Some people say that fight was staged, if it was they really sold it. Also don't feel bad for the guy getting pounded in the groin, he was sent to jail for r-pe and killed his cell mate, so he absolutely deserved it. He also played Random Task in Austin Powers.
Frye talked about it in an interview, the match was real but the other fighter approached him beforehand and they agreed to go all out to make a spectacle. Unfortunately, the opponent got the worse thrashing in the exchange. Frye was clearly the harder and more powerful pugilist

Best opening to the show so far. Charlie killed it.
I'll throw my 2 cents in. This was the first episode I ever watched, I was hooked instantly! I got the tone and it was perfect. It's episodes like this that make a fan x
This episode led me to dress as the Birds of War on 3 pro wrestling cruises lol. So thank you for the shenanigans guys. Da Maniac loves you.

I just discovered this. THANK YOU! These are incredible. Always sunny is one of my all time favorite shows. Amazing. Love it. More more more haha
Also Jake the snake had a KING COBRA not a python. Thing was a monster.
The Maniac's kids scene is my 2nd big laugh from Sunny after Nightman, especially the chestnut line
Genuinely had to pause the episode after that because i was laughing so hard lmao
Charlie saying fuck Giants, they have it all literally made me burst out laughing
Its one of my favorite episodes Piper played the role so well as the washed wrestler with mental problems. The scene that always killed me was when Dennis asked oh you got kids Maniac? Maniac smirking for a second before totally changing moods and with a pause No...not anymore.
That's a bucket of chestnuts...is he foraging for his food? 😂
Charlie is the reliable friend we all need 😂
"We used to openly slay giants." Can't wait for next season where Charlie and Frank read about that in history and bring it back in the episode "Frank & Charlie Slay a Giant!"😂
"you can hardly slay anyone!"
Lot of gems in this one, especially this quote
I love how it's so quiet in the cold open you can hear Charlie move his mug across the table 😂
I live for cold opens with missing cast members - never getting tired of it haha
“Am I ever gonna get to finish off one of these guys” - Glenn 😂
I’ve been waiting for this episode since you guys started recording the podcast. It did NOT disappoint.
"I wish I had a good antidote..." When he meant anecdote, such a Charlie thing to sayyyyy 😂
this was the first episode of sunny i’ve ever seen. i’ve been waiting a while for this 😅
I think the gang goes on a road trip is a perfect first episode for someone trying to get into the show… it was the first episode I saw and I loved the characters immediately and never stopped watching ever since!
This podcast is very innovative to add a new host each episode, started with just this Charlie guy, then they got Glenn and now this Rob fellow? Incredible.
Love you guys and love your work 🫡
I’ve turned so many friends onto this show from showing them “The Nightman Cometh” 😂😂😂 It’ll always be my favorite!
Charlie day talking to himself is amazing i could watch 1 hour of this lol
Just rewatched Season 12 Episode 8 & I gotta say, when Mac brings in the crate & gets real genuine & sweet, it brings such an authenticity to the show. It’s so heartwarming & sweet. So Rob, if you ever see this, you didn’t latch onto & ride the coattails of more talented people when you made this show like you claim, you found a group of sweet, amazing, genuine people who are just as talented who helped you realize your potential. I have a lot of respect & admiration for you, & hope you continue succeeding in all your future endeavors. Wrexham & Sunny forever baby ✊
I wanted so BADLY for there to be a Charlie musical intro but god damn they made something amazing with literally nothing.
On a rewatch of the podcast and this is one of my favorite episodes y’all have done in this series!
Watching these just before bed is so sweet
This is one of favorite episode of Sunny of all time. Trash-man is my favorite Frank Reynolds creation ever.
I think that the song being off beat works really well for the scene - i always assumed it was intential because the crowd isn't enjoying the song and the costumes are so funny
i love the late bits. reminds me of being in high school clubs or inside jokes with projects with people. feeling a part of yours is so welcome
I like Robs shirt in this one. Looks good tucked in. Charlie looks good too. He’s rocking the beard looking like a dad lol.
It's funny that Rob says that you have to know the show to get this episode. This was actually the first one i saw and absolutely loved it instantly. The Birds of war stuff grabbed me right away, havent stopped rewatching the show in the seven years since. If im introducing somebody to the show i normally go to this one pretty early. It's one of the few episodes that truly has all the characters at their 100% best
Boys, I just gotta say, thank you for doing this podcast. I rewatch the show every year and I always wanted more. I'm a day one with the podcast and haven't missed an episode in 18 months. Thanks again
I will never get tired of you guys giving each other shit for being late
As a former troop, Cricket and his general apathy towards the troops is comedic gold!!!! Also, it's pretty rad y'all have the Apache picture at the bar as a former army aviator myself!
Oh and here's to hoping getting a Ben the soldier episode for Veterans Day 🍻🍻🍻
For what its worth I love the fact that the Birds of War song is off beat. It just makes it seem like Charlie, Mac and Dennis didnt really prepare much for the song, which is consistent with their charcaters and the rest of their performance in the wrestling match.
