*True Story:* My late best friend named her kitten Martha Focker a couple days after we saw this in the theater. My friend passed 9 years ago, but that little Focker lives on.

Meet the parents is a certified classic. It's in the same league as Father of the Bride. Movies that you watch when you're young and laugh, then watch when you're older and cry.
I'm a male nurse in a trauma center here in Denmark and it's true.. Not a lot of nurses are men, but they are highly wanted. But we was 32 in my class and we were 2 guys the rest was women. But hey, we didn't complain🙂
Men in nursing is actually becoming more common at least in the US and Canada; though a good plenty of them are other medical professionals (like paramedics) who moved into nursing because it's a more stable environment and the pay is like triple.

Uh… no. This movie wasn’t in the least bit funny. Ben Stiller is terrible… his only semi decent movie was There’s Something About Mary. And even that was crap for the most part. All he plays in his movies are these “down on his luck guys” who constantly get into unfortunate situations in his relationships. It’s like you wanna feel bad for him, not laugh

My husband and I have been married for 18 years. We started out as best friends and I met his mother. She is the one that told my husband, "You had better marry that girl or I'll never speak to you again" LOL I loved that woman...RIP. She ended up being my best friend as well. So, yeah I think it's important to have a good relationship with the parents of your spouse. But, I don't think it's necessary to jump through as many hoops as this guy did.
I think it's important too and I'm so happy you were blessed with a great MIL, but I can not stand my mother in law. I love my FIL but the MIL is my husband's step mom and she's a horrible, jealous person. They live about 10 minutes away and my FIL has to sneak to see us when he's out running her errands. She's never met my twins and they're 5, hasn't seen my teens since kindergarten and first grade.

My then boyfriends mother, when I met her told me. (In the most snide voice) "dont go thinking he's ever going to marry you" I didnt even respond and I'm rarely without words..i was shocked. Were married and let me tell you. It didn't get better, it got so much worse. I think I could write a book. I'm glad & jealous when I hear about inlaws being great.

As far as asking her dad first, its all about respect to the other most important man in her life and having her dad give them his blessing.

(Also: If you liked Owen Wilson and Ben Stillers fine chemistry - check out the comedies: "Zoolander". It's a BOMB! You will love it! Also "The Royal Tennenbaums" and "Starsky & Hutch", maybe they've done more together, these I knew right away...)

I remember seeing this for the first time thinking that it would be a cheesy romantic comedy and was surprised how insanely funny it is.

I worked for a major Canadian airline back in the early 2000's. A plane arrived in Whitehorse with a cat carrier and a dead cat in it. The cargo guy was upset about the dead cat but had a brilliant idea. Go to the shelter and find a lookalike. He did. He replaced the cat but when the owner came to pick it up he said, 'That's not my cat.' The cargo guy said, 'No, no, that's the only cat we had come in this morning, yup from Edmonton, this is the one.' 'That's not my cat.' the guy said again. The cargo guy said, 'Ya, Ya, that's your cat.' The owner said, 'No, my cat is dead.' The guy had shipped his dead cat to bury in Whitehorse where he got the cat. The cat that was picked up at the shelter became the hangar cat :). So lucky cat that he looked like somebody else.

Oh YES! So glad you reacted to this -- one of my favorite comedies ever, without a doubt. The second one was great, even though it wasn't as superb as the first (they almost never are though, to be fair). I'm pretty sure I watched the third one, but it was over a decade ago and I don't remember anything about it, but I don't recall disliking it at all.

And this movie, and it's sequel, were like good comfort food on a lazy day:) If you think of getting a cat watch Jackson Galaxy's youtube channel for an idea of how to treat cats and how much cats can enrich your life. They are totally different than dogs but all of the cats I've had have been very affectionate and playful and sometimes incredibly goofy. Their body language is completely different. My friend thought my cat's tail swishing back and forth meant she was happy - nope. Irritated lol.

Focker is a real last name that is common in the Netherlands (popularly known as Holland). I am into airplanes and Fokker with two k's was the name of a large plane manufacturer too until it went of of business in 1996, but they made some popular planes used around the world last century too and of course were based in the Netherlands and named after founder Anthony Fokker. And its no wonder why its known for its weed and drug legality. But there is no problem saying it on here since aviation people say it in videos often enough.
A lot of this would have been avoided, if like a normal person, he went and bought a couple days worth of clothes immediately after finding out his luggage was lost. I understand there would be no movie at that point... but anybody who has lost luggage would have called that out.

It's their way of comforting humans. They're just more reserved than most dogs, but they can be incredibly affectionate. I grew up with both dogs and cats (and several other animal species) since I was born, so I had the special opportunity to know what it's like. I am so grateful to my parents for that.
