Dude, you did well with him. Especially the grooming. VERY FEW people realize how important it is to groom their dog as a pup and throughout their life. ESPECIALLY a newfie!!
Mike's like the perfect guy. He's a dog person, likes Friends, has a job, and is nice to look at. He's also a bit silly. Mostly because he's such a good dog dad.

I work at a dry cleaning business. We have two customers that always come in with their puppies and there is one that just plops him on the counter because he is still so tiny. No matter how busy we are, we stop everything to give the puppies love!! They make my day every time!!!!🥰🥰🥰

That is exactly what happened to my fur babies leg. I adopted her after she has surgery at the shelter. A few days later I noticed the foot was in bad shape and took her into the surgeon who did the surgery on her ACL. he was bold enough to blame me (I didn't put the bandage on, he did). He said she wasn't worth keeping as she is a rottweiler and no-one wants a three-legged dog so I should just put her down. I said, "well I do" and stormed out. I took her my vet and at 5 years old she had her back right leg removed. She did amazing and at 12 years old is still going strong and has a wonderful quality of life. I wish I could have pre enter this from happening,I'm just grateful I caught the problem when I did or myvet says she would have lost her life. I am thankful you shared this video, hopefulkytjis will prevent more dogs (or other animals) from suffering the same fate our babies did.

Newfies are such good dogs. I have one myself. His name is George. Seeing the way Bear runs and the way he lays on your lap reminds me of George so much. I am typing this comment right next to him now! Bear is an amazing pup, I can tell. I literally clicked on this video because I saw a Newfoundland on the cover. They’re just amazing. And to anyone who doesn’t want to get one because of their size: Although they look big and scary, they’re really just big, fluffy bundles of love. They are great for young children and always want to protect their owners. Plus they LOVE cuddles.
I want a newfoundland really bad but I don't know if I could take care of a dog that well so it's a bit intimidating lol They really seem like such great dogs
@@kiiturii They totally are! They are little bundles of joy. Mine is usually sleeping all the time, but there are times when we take him swimming and running around in the backyard and through the sprinklers, but that only lasts up to thirty minutes. They will always be willing to cuddle and give/get lovings as i call it. At first you’ll have to go out with them when they have to go out, but they are quick learners and after putting an invisible electric fence up that connects to his collar, George totally knows where he can and can’t go. They are very intelligent. Mine knows how to wait to eat his favorite treat until we say okay already and we’ve only had him for four months. Sure, sometimes they’ll be a bit bitey, but if you teach them Crate Up”, they’ll run straight to they’re crate. Then let them out when they lay down. Always keep treats near you in case you need to lure him somewhere or something like that. Vet trips don’t last too too long either. They will wake you up at night once or maybe twice a night to go out, but it won’t take too long. I advise you to get one!

Corgis are NOT chill lol. They are herding dogs and need lots of exercise or they will destroy stuff. They were bred to herd large cattle and they have a ton of energy. They are super smart dogs that even when well trained sometimes just decide to be sassy and not listen. Our corgi murders his toys constantly (he always goes for the eyes) loves to chew, loves to bark, and runs like the wind. 🤣They are fun sized chaos potatoes and it's an absolute blast!

3:05 My dog always seems to know when my anxiety is high because she gets my attention and licks my face. It’s like she’s washing away my anxiety and after only a minute I feel better.
So sad what happened to Roxy. It's unthinkable that veterinary surgery can still be so barbaric especially with the cost attributed to it. There should have been more test to determine that the surgery would certainly risking her losing a leg. They could have just performed other methods to shirk the sarcoma prior to surgery or advanced imaging to determine the best approach to surgery. She should have been monitored in the vet hospital of her progress day by day too like modern post operative care.
Could you imagine how freaking adorable bear would be with a baby kitten!!! The snuggles. The baby would make biscuits on bear all day long!!!

If I lived in NYC, I would love to have you as my physician because, when a person treats an animal this well, you know he's also going to treat a human with utmost care also. I really appreciate your dog training, grooming and medical advice too, especially regarding what questions to ask before agreeing to surgery. I loved this video. Dr. Mike , im a rescue doggie mom and my pup has the best compatibility with me, normally when you go adopt they let you meet a bunch of doggos , in my case i saw my pup and immediately knew we were meant for each other , also they usually tell you about the dog’s personality when meeting them

Seeing Roxy like this makes me so sad I got teary eyes. My Husky passed away early 2022 and I still cry very easily every time I think about him and because he have stroke from the complications a few days after his surgery.

He is a European Doberman, so they naturally bond with one person. He is always there when I need him. Wherever I go he goes.

We see vlogs about a day in your life. How about Bear's? He must have a dog walker or go to doggie day care given the hours you work, right? As a dog advocate, I'm always excited to see how other dogs live day-to-day. Especially in the city.
Some of the content is a repeat but Dr. Mike- I love you and your pups. I hope Roxy is doing well since her leg amputation.

I was a foster dog volunteer and now have my own “foster fail” pup. Look for a foster dog from a REALLY good rescue. When the dog spends quality time in a foster home the foster parents can evaluate the dog’s personality and teach manners. Then, with time, the rescue team can match the pup with the new family. ❤

Dr. Mike, many dog rescues know their dogs’ personalities pretty well and will match them up with a home where the dog and family have a great fit. The rescue I volunteer for, Carolina Poodle Rescue, has a long Lifestyle Questionnaire, so they know all about the applicant’s lifestyle. There are so many wonderful dogs in rescues. Many have bad baggage from their past life and need an experienced dog person to work with them on those problems. But there are also many that are healthy, lovable, well-behaved and ready to fit in with a new family. And it’s not just mixed breeds. There are lots of pure bred dogs at rescues and shelters. I would be so happy to see you get a new dog or puppy from a rescue. I love your videos and your sense of humor. And Bear is so gorgeous! 🥰

I'm s dog-lover who learned a lot from this video! I enjoyed seeing how he cares for "Bear". I also enjoyed the view from the Doctor's apartment, as well as the doc's physique. I would tend to be apprehensive about getting a cat in this situation because of the extreme difference in size. I've seen many dog/cat pairs that are best buddies, but usually the size difference (while definitely there) isn't this great. I'm actually amazed that the apartment/condo management in this obvious tower situation allows a dog this large. By the way... I'm a huge Japanese Chin fanatic.

I had a landseer newfie who was a visiting dog. We went to hospitals, nursing homes, schools, many places and the people loved him. He loved the attention and looked forward to our visits and he also took long naps when we got home. Newfies are the best.
