I think remakes are fine to be nominated for GOTY if they are built from the ground up like RE4R was. Remasters should have their own category. DLC should not be nominated for GOTY. To be fair, Sony didn't require already released games to be pro enhanced. This is on the devs for raising their hands to release a pach and then failing to deliver an acceptable update. All enhanced first party games have very solid upgrades, and responsible studios like the ones for Stellar Blade and Lies of P also did great work with their updates. The hardware is not magic, it needs the software to properly implement the enhancements.
FromSoft needs to re-remaster the original Dark Souls and bring it up to modern standards like was done with Demon's Souls. I don't really think Dark Souls 3 needs a remaster. I just played through the entire game about a year ago and it looked amazing still.

Maybe it's just me, but if i'm spending $700usd on a console, i expect to be able to boot up any game in my library and get the full benefits of the new hardware out the gate. Not to be relying on developers to patch games to take advantage of the hardware.

The reason I didn't buy Kunitsu Gami is because there was no physical release. I won't buy something I'll never own unless heavily discounted. Regarding the Game Awards, as far as the awards go, in my opinion they are irrelevant, it's the mainstream media that is the jury on what gets nominated and if for whatever reason they don't want a game, because of something outside the games gameplay or looks, (Hogwart's Legacy) being a typical example, then it won't get nominated by the media shills. Hogwart's Legacy was the best selling game in the US and the second best in the UK and Europe yet because of JK Rowling it wasn't even nominated. You cannot take the mainstream media serious, they'll pick what suits their own agenda. There's no way any dlc should be game of the year. That should go to a standalone game created. It should be easy enough to create a best dlc/expansion award. Gamers are only making upto 10% of the choice for game of the year which is too low.
I installed my 12gb 3060 yesterday. I cannot believe i waited this long to make the jump to PC gaming. My computers have always been used for production. I liked the convenience of console gaming. But the difference in the experience is incredible. I just so happened to have Skyrim installed on my PC and fired it up. It was like I was playing a different game. The cost of PC gaming has dropped so much it just doesn't make sense to go console unless you are an extreme example of a casual gamer. Also, i sold my Xbox series X to upgrade to the 3060 12gb. Never been happier with a purchase decision in my life.

We're talking remakes Age of Mythology retold should have been up for Game of the Year ..that was one of the best releases this year because the Sim strategy genre isn't as mainstream as it used to be it doesn't get its due ...but I'm telling you that's one of the best releases this year ..I've spent more time in that game than all those other games combined.. it was an incredible remake with great quality of life features and brand new DLC... they did such a great Justice to the original probably the best game to release this year overall

I am okay with remakes getting nominated for Game of the Year as they are new games. Especially if they make changes to the gameplay and/or story and are not just visual and audio upgrades. Remasters getting nominated for Game of the Year is a stretch, even if they are so good as to look more like a remake. A great example of that kind of remaster is Diablo II: Resurrected. It graphics (note: I am speaking of graphics not art style)t looks better than Diablo III despite still being based on the Diablo II engine. DLC and expansions are not even a stretch. They are flat out illegitimate inclusions for Game of the Year.

TGA I was rooting for The Finals for Best Multiplayer Nom hard but totally get why the industry didn’t have it top of mind. Overall I actually kinda side with the large majority of the awards. Now if one wants to blame Geoff and the board for “allowing” it then fair. I see this as a 50/50 thing where it’s always been a non existent rule (confirmed by Kinda Funny today) and just cuz of that DLC are not always nominated. It’s just if they overwhelmingly were thought worthy by media outlets/journalists around the world. Wu Kong easily has to be the game of the year!!! It was my most anticipated game of the year combat looks phenomenal, story seems very interesting/ambitious if they're going all in on Journey to the West, environments look gorgeous and soundtrack is MAJESTIC. ...but I'm so freaking annoyed Xbox failed to get it on their platform, i was ready 20th August to buy it but simply couldn't. I've really had to hold back on watching any further gameplay from those initial trailers but from the new content I've seen it looks truly amazing. I'll be surprised if it doesn't win as it has to be FF7 Rebirth, Astro Bot would seem off/rigged a good game but i don't think it's beating the two mentioned prior.
So far I'm not seeing any killer app that makes me feel like I'd need a Pro upgrade. That may change. As long as games play at 60fps, I'm good. I don't care so much if it's high fidelity too. Yes it's nice, but I'm good with 60fps performance modes.

I had zero intentions of buying the PS5 pro but it was gifted to me as a birthday present so I've been playing around on it and I got to say some games do look noticeably better and the performance is better as well but then you have some games like Jedi survivor that looks worse because of PSSR so I'm kind of mixed on it but hopefully they don't force pro users to use PSSR and gives you an option to turn it off..
I'm fairly positive the early issues will be ironed out. Allegedly the games that are having issues may be using an old version of PSSR. Plus, PSSR is only in its infancy stage. It will get better over time

There are alternatives to VGA. Granted not as glamorous and imo not my favorite TH-camrs/grfity showrunners but “The Real Game Awards” by sidescrollers is a thing. Theyve made some good decisions and funny categories that are bound to piss off some of the media but cool to have alternatives.

I had to see the game for myself and yes I agree with you, it was underrated and the "woke" hate was 100% overblown by youtube gaming grifters. It was a fun star wars game and it genuinely felt like the original trilogy at times. Not GOTY material but it was fun and I enjoyed it.

I believe they said the problem was the games were on an older version of PSSR. It will most likley get patched fairly soon.

Imo, there should be more games nominated and available to be voted for in each category because some of them I'm forced to pick the best of the bunch shown, when I don't think any of them are worthy.....I had other games in mind !!
Also, games that are released towards the end of the year are never included because they're not out or are coming out around the time of the awards.....So, imo, they should either move the awards to the start of the new year, so as to include ALL games released in the year OR allow those games to be included in the following awards.....Basically I'm saying that ALL games should have a fair shot at winning !!

Why is Balatro a Game of the Year nominee? That is a card game, not an actual AA or AAA game that is typically awarded for Game of the Year. I think Balatro is a "Protest Nominee" because none of the DEI games got nominated.

Stalker 2 missed the awards deadline. You pretty much have to come out in October at the latest to get a nomination.

We're talking remakes Age of Mythology retold should have been up for Game of the Year ..that was one of the best releases this year because the Sim strategy genre isn't as mainstream as it used to be it doesn't get its due ...but I'm telling you that's one of the best releases this year ..I've spent more time in that game than all those other games combined.. it was an incredible remake with great quality of life features and brand new DLC... they did such a great Justice to the original probably the best game to release this year overall

I am okay with remakes getting nominated for Game of the Year as they are new games. Especially if they make changes to the gameplay and/or story and are not just visual and audio upgrades. Remasters getting nominated for Game of the Year is a stretch, even if they are so good as to look more like a remake. A great example of that kind of remaster is Diablo II: Resurrected. It graphics (note: I am speaking of graphics not art style)t looks better than Diablo III despite still being based on the Diablo II engine. DLC and expansions are not even a stretch. They are flat out illegitimate inclusions for Game of the Year.

TGA I was rooting for The Finals for Best Multiplayer Nom hard but totally get why the industry didn’t have it top of mind. Overall I actually kinda side with the large majority of the awards.
I don’t really like defending or ragging anything, but regarding Erdtree it’s just the industry as a whole that’s deciding that. Now if one wants to blame Geoff and the board for “allowing” it then fair. I see this as a 50/50 thing where it’s always been a non existent rule (confirmed by Kinda Funny today) and just cuz of that DLC are not always nominated. It’s just if they overwhelmingly were thought worthy by media outlets/journalists around the world.
If one wants to focus entirely on the awards with much stricter rules then Dice Awards is more that speed.

Wu Kong easily has to be the game of the year!!! It was my most anticipated game of the year combat looks phenomenal, story seems very interesting/ambitious if they're going all in on Journey to the West, environments look gorgeous and soundtrack is MAJESTIC.
...but I'm so freaking annoyed Xbox failed to get it on their platform, i was ready 20th August to buy it but simply couldn't.
I've really had to hold back on watching any further gameplay from those initial trailers but from the new content I've seen it looks truly amazing. I'll be surprised if it doesn't win as it has to be FF7 Rebirth, Astro Bot would seem off/rigged a good game but i don't think it's beating the two mentioned prior.

I had zero intentions of buying the PS5 pro but it was gifted to me as a birthday present so I've been playing around on it and I got to say some games do look noticeably better and the performance is better as well but then you have some games like Jedi survivor that looks worse because of PSSR so I'm kind of mixed on it but hopefully they don't force pro users to use PSSR and gives you an option to turn it off..
I'm fairly positive the early issues will be ironed out. Allegedly the games that are having issues may be using an old version of PSSR. Plus, PSSR is only in its infancy stage. It will get better over time

There are alternatives to VGA. Granted not as glamorous and imo not my favorite TH-camrs/grfity showrunners but “The Real Game Awards” by sidescrollers is a thing. Theyve made some good decisions and funny categories that are bound to piss off some of the media but cool to have alternatives.

Outlaws is one of my favorite action adventure games of the year. I don’t expect it to win, but it’s a very fun and underrated game, IMO.
I had to see the game for myself and yes I agree with you, it was underrated and the "woke" hate was 100% overblown by youtube gaming grifters. It was a fun star wars game and it genuinely felt like the original trilogy at times. Not GOTY material but it was fun and I enjoyed it.
