He is right. I remove the alternator and got it to oreilly and had it tested. It was Bad. Replaced the alternator and the code went away. Thank you for the tip.
Also check the wiring and the connector to the distributor. The location of this harness exposes it to elements and the pins can be damaged, loose and can cause an intermittent misfire.
I have the same problem , I already changed the distributor and then I checked my alternator voltage is 14 so theres nothing wrong wiith alternator. My car runs good except on hot days when the temperature is over 70 degrees fahrenheit the chech engine lights turns on and the car starts to jerk. but as soon as the weather gets cooler the check engine lights goes off and the car runs very well again with no problem. Please help me and point me to what to do next. Thanks
Was the issue that u have pertaining to the car not starting I think I have that code too mine will not start saying timing is off and I just bought a new battery drove down the street got back home shut it off then try to restart nothing happened I have scan again
Check the distributor might need to replace distributor cuz theirs a sensor that was build and you cannot replace the sensor cuz it build into the distributor
If the car is having trouble starting, then it could be your alternator, but I wouldn’t think that I would die on the road because of the alternator I’ve replaced my distributor, my alternator, my my spark, plugs and spark, plug wires and still can’t seem to fix it

I had same code and also a huge jerk in engine shifting and tranny shifting. Code went away and also the jerk went away after replacing alternator
I did the same process but after I change alternator, a few weeks later the code came back😤😤😤

Naw p1381 Is cylinder position sensor.
I fixed all those in past year, plus new alternator, battery, ugh, all new. No idea about this code.
I thought p1381 can cause bad distributor??
I changed the Alternator problem gone ..... no more code p1381

My car dies on the road with this code though and then I cleared it and now it won't start. Could the alt still cause this?
