On Saturday, December 2, in Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, we had the self-titled solo project of Till Lindemann, the frontman of the world-famous rock band Rammstein, which was enjoyed by a large number of people. Unfortunately, the press photographers of Lindemann's production company were not allowed to capture the concert. one of the albums "Zunge" was released recently, and even though the album was not released yet, it went from the last place to the first place in the German ITunes chart in one day. I was at the concert and I was very happy!
I was at the first concert in Leipzig in Germany this november. ( best concert by far) Rammstein is great but thats the real Lindemann. This solo album is a another masterpiece! the video NSL (Nass Schweiß Lecker) is a banger!!
As I see it first it's grief, (rain-soaked arms might mean the man is crying, holding his face with his hands in grief and despair), when it changes to realisation and acceptance of the fact that his dear person is gone (the wind holds their name firm with its strong arms up in the sky) and then comes anger and determination (the wind now blows his name and holds him here firmly with thoulsand arms - probably chores, responsibility and bonds to other people and things he must continue doing here, not letting him follow and reunite with the person he loved). As we can see from the official video, this song is dedicated to a certain Thomas Rothe - I don't know ecactly who that person was, but, apparently, he was Till's good friend (or, maybe, his teacher). Unfortunately, Till is not getting younger, so he starts losing friends and loved ones due to age and probably realising he has not much time left here either, so this song is the result of his good friend's passing and his reflections about all this.
I think you got it spot on, at least from the English translation. However, today was released the official video for this song. Very different but amazing too.
Some of his songs are quite provocative and sick, but there are also some like this one that really get under your skin. Poetic, emotional, brilliant... he wrote this song "Übers Meer" for a friend who had died happily. In the official video, "Für Thomas" comes right at the end.
I think at the end of the song he committed suicide because of the loss of his love… the wind now whispers his name and holds him up there with thousand arms… beautiful song and nice reaction!
Till, one of few people who can have emotional, almost-ballad like song that easily pulls on listener heartstrings and then also something about murder doing drugs and fat people having sex. He's truly a treasure, we're lucky he's still giving it all - he is old/accomplished enough to rest on his laurels in retirement but he keeps giving us wonderful music
