During the time of the Umayyad Caliphate, the Muslims entered Samarkand as a military deception. Its people said in your religion, we are given a choice for three days to enter Islam, tribute or war, and you did not give us the choice.
The army judge ordered that the Muslim army be expelled from the fortified city
The commander of the Muslim army hated that because of the difficulty of winning when leaving
Certainly you know the leader, and he is the leader Qutayba bin Muslim Al-Bahili, one of the greatest Muslim leaders who conquered Central Asia
As a result, its people entered Islam because they found justice

@@treehigh5156 Name me hindu king in this archipelago that were forced to convert due to losing wars. If this is truly how they've been spreading the religion in this region, there's bound to be historical record/surviving accounts of this.
There is no compulsory in embracing religion, but as a muslim it is compulsory to spread the message. Whether they like it or not, it's up for them to decide. And if some of them don't like it and decide to migrate away, then it was their decision.
If it's true that Islam is a religion of which its followers are required to spread the words with swords, in Indonesia, then there would be no Bali that we've seen today

@@gunting you can look up the Majapahit empire. Iskandar Shah, the son and successor of Hindu King Sri Maharaja is one.
what islam says and what muslims do today and have done in the past are often diametrically opposite. for muslims, from what i have seen, the ends (conversion) justify the means (force, etc) even if islam prohibits it.
many people don't like the message of islam (too many reasons to list) and want nothing to do with it. you can have your jannah, i have no issue with it. would you like it if LGBT people spread their message to you peacefully LOL; i doubt muslims like you would allow that.
Bali is a separate island so that could be a reason. another reason is the muslims who won had no interest in going further east to bali. i never said it spread ONLY by sword just that the islamization of INdonesia/malaysia was not entire peaceful as muslims like you claim.
islam has an appeal but it is far from universal.

Islam helped Europe escape from dark ages due to church's originally anti science position. Renaissance would not have been possible without Islam. Europe tasted a real multi faith tolerance and multicultural environment, where for example Jews flourished and reached Golden Age in Europe, was under Islamic rule in Spain. Previously life was dire under Visigoth. Unfortunately, Islamic rule in Spain didn't last, and Europe was back to dark age for minorities. Observe Inquisition and fast forward Nazi. If only whole world embraced the spirit constitutions of Medina drafted in 622

On a second full listen, I’m thinking how your analysis of the “fixations” of certain types of assailants can cause them to become almost mindless in their senseless mobs of violence. Once fixation happens, only Allah can change such assailants trained to hate groups of people together. The blessed New Zealand leader’s knowledge of coexistence is indeed an exemplum for today.🌿
“To rediscover” our Faith-I have never met anyone who forced Islam on anyone-not among thousands of Muslims I have known. (Reminders of prayer? Sure. My mom would remind us--but never forced anything on us). Ameen. Perhaps many Faith families might decide to follow through on their own prospective faith commandments-so essential for maintaining good ties with God Almighty. InshaAllah.

There is a significant different between "Islam spread by the sword" and "Islamic rule spread by the sword" and there is no doubt that Islamic rule did indeed spread by the sword. Even Yasir Qadhi admits as much, not to mention Abdal Hakim Murad.

To those who said Islam did horrible things in Africa: How is it possible the richest person in the world was an African Muslim, Mansa Musa. Can't say the same thing when Europeans came to Africa to spread their religion and well yes, exploit their people and resources. Oh 'slave' in Islamic terms means who you have to give them clothes the same as yours, they have to eat on same table with you, you can't overburden them, slaves are your brothers, you can not resort abuse (not even VERBAL ones) and freeing slaves are noble deeds. It practically abolished slavery. It abolished chained and whipped slavery the world knew and relegated slaves as your very own family whom you should take care of. But i don't think King Leopold of Belgium would agree with this. Look at his treatments to the Congolese.
Anyway, Prophet last sermon (632) says" All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a White has no superiority over a Black nor a Black has any superiority over a White except by piety and good action". But if you read Darwin Origin of Species (1859) says "and some ape as low as a baboon, instead of as now between the negro or Australian and the gorilla"

Even if you take the anti Islam connotation to paint Islam negatively, unlike the crusaders Muslims opened the doors to nations that were imprisoned under unjust empires. Muslim fought to spread justice and tolerance. Unlike the Crusaders, lands that were opened by muslims retained their cultural identity, kept their wealth, prospered, had freedom to not only practice their religion freely but also their religious practices flourished and religious identity secured. Muslim opening closed unjust empires did not steal its wealth and take it somewhere else like the Crusaders did and still doing. These are FACTS.

The earth happens to be at the right distance from the sun to make it habitable.
The percentage of oxygen in the air is just right.
The pull of gravity is just right to support complex life on Earth.
The gravitational pull of the atom is just right to keep the elements intact.
The moon is the right size and distance to stabilise the Earth's axis.
The Earth's magnetic field is strong enough to deflect the radiation produced by the sun.
Naturally there are more examples, we've only talked about the habitat and not the inhabitants.

This was poor as it doesn't address the real issues. While its true that there wasn't forced conversions (generally speaking) its also true that Islamic rule did unquestionably spread by the sword. The early Caliphs conquered Arabia, Syria, Palestine, Iran, North Africa, Spain, South France, parts of the Byzantine empire, Afghanistan and eventually India. That's the historical reality and it was required by Islamic law. Once a territory was conquered for Islam then a relentless social pressure was brought to bare on the non-Muslim peoples of that territory and many would capitulate as a consequence. Islamic _rule_ spread by the sword; and if you doubt that then you know nothing about history.

  • @mohammedfaisall1651

Was spread of Islam peaceful or forceful?
👉 The beginning spread of Islam gained a great boost by series of battle victories which made Arab Muslims conquer non Arab lands(from Spain,Portugal till pakistan).
The early Muslims did spread Islam by conquering lands , but never forced there religion on the local people(approved by historians).
👉 After few centuries the Mongols began to start their barbaric conquest from central Asia and estimatedly killed millions of Muslims marching till iraq.
The vast Mongol empire was divided into 4 parts and a descendant of chengis khan accepted Islam by inquiring the Muslims about their religion when they had stopped their journey for prayer.
After the Mongol ruler accepted Islam then later on the other 2 parts of Mongol empire also accepted islam and the 4th part of Mongol empire remained in their old religion.
Historians say this was the first ever case of the conquered rulers(mongols) accepting or adopting the religion of their slaves(muslims).
The descendants of Mongols that is Babur began conquering the land of Indian subcontinent and were later called mughals.
👉 Spread of Islam in africa first by the conquest reached north africa , later on by the trading of Muslims reached east and west africa and also to central africa and beyond till Mozambique.
👉 Spread of Islam in the Indian subcontinent (India,Pakistan, Bangladesh) where in South India Islam reached by the Arabs coming for trading and the local people impressed by their character and conduct eventually began accepting Islam. Interestingly the oldest masjid of karnataka, Tamil Nadu and kerala were established in the 6th century.
In North India Islam was spread by a network of sufi preachers that began gaining converts by performing miracles and sharing love. One such example is Khwaja Muinuddin Chishti (Rahmatullahi Alaih).
By the early Muslims being just and honest in trading made Islam popular and gained mass conversions to Islam in Indonesia and Malaysia.
👉 Forceful conversions were very unlikely and very rare to be seen in the spread of Islam.
So in conclusion majority of non Muslims that accepted islam was by free will.
So the spread of Islam was overall peaceful.

It is true that Islamic history is complex but it is also true that classical Islamic law required relentless military action against unbelieving peoples and we can see how that was enacted historically by the Caliphs. Just consult the different schools of classical Islamic law!

Anyone who try to spread islam by force is not a Muslim himself because he's not following teachings Allah and by not following Allah all he is doing is spreading wrong.
    Islam does not tolerate forced conversion;
"There is no compulsion in religion, the right way stands clearly distinct from the wrong way."
    -Quran 2:256
"Oh you who believe! Why do you say that which you do not do?
Most hateful it is with Allah that you say that which you do not do"
    -Quran 61:2-3
    Islamic way of spreading islam by logical arguments like wise people;
"Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction, and argue with them in a way that is best."
    -Quran 16:125

A very enjoyable talk once again. Although my interest in Islamic history is not new, my elevated level of attention to it is, thanks to your channel here. So, please accept my comment as from a newcomer. Is it not so that the Quran calls for the execution or dismemberment of "infidels"? Sura 5:33, 9:5, etc. Also, I believe many understand the prophet Mohammed to have been a military leader, if not a war lord. Wasn't his conquest of Mecca accomplished through military coercion? Did he not lead battles of conquest in Arabia? Your take on these notions would be very helpful, I think. All religions have regrettable histories to one degree or another, it seems. But the historical actions of the Mahammed himself misunderstood or not as an example to followers is relevant, I'm sure.

_[Allah] said, "Then indeed, it is forbidden to them for forty years [in which] they will wander throughout the land. So do not grieve over the defiantly disobedient people." (26) And recite to them the story of Adam's two sons, in truth, when they both offered a sacrifice [to Allah], and it was accepted from one of them but was not accepted from the other. Said [the latter], "I will surely kill you." Said [the former], "Indeed, Allah only accepts from the righteous [who fear Him]. (27) If you should raise your hand against me to kill me - I shall not raise my hand against you to kill you. Indeed, I fear Allah, Lord of the worlds. (28) Indeed I want you to obtain [thereby] my sin and your sin so you will be among the companions of the Fire. And that is the recompense of wrongdoers." (29) And his soul permitted to him the murder of his brother, so he killed him and became among the losers. (30) Then Allah sent a crow searching in the ground to show him how to hide the disgrace of his brother. He said, "O woe to me! Have I failed to be like this crow and hide the body of my brother?" And he became of the regretful. (31) Because of that, We decreed upon the Children of Israel that whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption [done] in the land - it is as if he had slain mankind entirely. And whoever saves one - it is as if he had saved mankind entirely. And our messengers had certainly come to them with clear proofs. Then indeed many of them, [even] after that, throughout the land, were transgressors. (32) Indeed, the penalty for those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger and strive upon earth [to cause] corruption is none but that they be killed or crucified or that their hands and feet be cut off from opposite sides or that they be exiled from the land. That is for them a disgrace in this world; and for them in the Hereafter is a great punishment, (33) Except for those who return [repenting] before you apprehend them. And know that Allah is Forgiving and Merciful. (34) O you who have believed, fear Allah and seek the means [of nearness] to Him and strive in His cause that you may succeed. (35) Indeed, those who disbelieve - if they should have all that is in the earth and the like of it with it by which to ransom themselves from the punishment of the Day of Resurrection, it will not be accepted from them, and for them is a painful punishment (36) They will wish to get out of the Fire, but never are they to emerge therefrom, and for them is an enduring punishment. Thanks for the video. Surely I and many have thought about this. And it has been a long time looking into this. The conclusion is or how we know is simple. Those nations that changed their "language" and perhaps custom were forced by the sword, as there is no other way one can change a nation of its language. Other countries for example India and China, I slam went there by peaceful means, as they, just say India maintain more than 20 languages and culture and monuments. So it is imperative to ask questions, about how can the language of a nation can be changed, and the mechanism used by invaders. Period.

As Muslims, we must all condemn the conquest of Constantinople by Mohammad Al-Fatih. It was unjust and against the rulings of the Quran. Mohammad al fatih disobeyed god and threw away the Quran. Kosovo is the heart of the monasticism world that is very important for orthodox Christian’s. You should all check out “Imran Hosein - Constantinople in the Quran” Imran hosein is a brilliant Muslim scholar and thinker who has transformed many Christians and Christian professors and scholars themselves into believers of the prophet Muhammad and also believers that the Quran is the word of the 1 true god. May god bless Imran Hosein.

Soon brother Paul will run out of topics to discuss. LOL! He is leaving no stones unturned.
    Short comments about the subject:
For almost 5 decades from the rule of caliph Marwan until the accession of Umar Ibn Abd Aziz, conversion to Islam was actually discouraged by the state. Migration to Muslim cities (such as Basra & Kufa) was blocked, & Jizya tax was not dropped even if one converts to Islam. It is not to say that this was an acceptable practice, but the myth of "spread by the sword" could not be more ridiculous.
Jizya is a yearly poll tax on adult militarily able free male for exemption from participating in defense, thus excludes women, children, elderly, poor, slaves & the sick (probably 80% of the population). According to the different mathhabs, itIt ranges from 1 to 4 dinars per head ($250 to $1000 in today's money) for lower, middle & upper class respectively. In other words, between $50 & $200 per capita counting the entire population (since probably only a 5th pay). We know from tax reports from Ibn Khaldun (& others), Jizya actually makes only small share of tax revenue in the empire (dozens of millions dirhams from around 500 million dirhams).
As to Devsirme (aka Ottoman conscription system), regardless of the un-Islamic nature of the practice, it is still a more superior practice than modern conscription. Devsirme were, effectively, the ruling class of the Ottoman empire, the officers, the admirals, the generals & virtually all grand viziers came from devsirme. Being recruited to this order was the highest honor in the Ottoman empire. Muslims & Turks were not allowed to be recruited. In fact, recruitment in devsirme was so sought after that families would offer bribes to officers to chose their children, for they know that child will grow to have status in the empire & help his family rise in the socioeconomic ladder. Every empire in history uses conscription -for obvious reasons, else will cease to exist. The US is notorious for conscription too, though not in defensive warfare like the Ottomans were conducting at their borders, rather in offensive offensive warfare, like the Vietnam War & the Korean War... The other difference is that Ottoman conscription has the aim to defend the faith & the people, for they recruits are instructed in the Islamic legal, theological & sufi tradition. Unlike in the West, where recruits are taught to obey orders without question.

1- they are our greatest allies
      Or
2- they are the only "democratic" country in the middle East.

Is it not true that the “fifth Rashed Caliph” Omer ibn AbdulAziz stopped the expansion campaign (Futohat) and essentially was against such empire building? Is it also not true that the Ummayiad and other rulers who were involved in such empire building were essentially more interested in collecting Jiziya from non-Muslim subjects than in encouraging people to become Muslim since that meant more money that those rulers had access to? And is it not true that many of these rulers were in violation of Islamic teachings in many areas and therefore did not represent valid Islamic practice?

One of the many reasons Islam spread fast is because many people already believed in Islam instinctively (worshipping the One Creator) and were still resisting and had not succumbed to the enforcement of man made State Religion adopted by the unjust paganistic Empires of that time.
