We shouldn't have a patio on the street. However, as a driver, you should be able to see ahead of you that there is a patio and not crash into it. The driver most likely was impaired OR was driving quickly to go around and didn't see the patio until last minute and crashed into it. Either way, the driver is more at fault than the patio being on the street. Luckily, no one go hurt. But, it's better to just move the patio off the street because we have way too many inconsiderate, absented minded, fools in this world.

I work at night downtown. The bike lanes and patios are ridiculous. They're barely visible at night and I have upgraded my headlights because I work at night. If the city MUST put bike lanes and patios on the road they MUST make them easy to see at night. Plain and simple. People that have to drive at night already have to look out for pedestrians and dumb bike riders without proper lights and reflective clothing. Now we have to watch out for the almost invisible bike lanes and patios as well. So tired of all the stupid decisions that the city has made over the last few years. They don't think before doing anything at all!
