It's always fascinating to hear a non locals take on our city. You did pretty well, for a second visit, there was plenty of information in there, excellently presented.. There are of course many things to see slightly off the tourist trail, a little off piste, however, you did a great job giving an overview for the day traveller. Thank you for your kind and gentle words about our home.
Thank you so much 🙏 I’m glad you enjoyed the video. I’m no expert on Lincoln but I do love the city. I can’t wait to return for another visit. I’d like to film a little bit on bomber command and that area too!
Thank you for that fascinating video. I visited Lincoln during my last UK trip. I came across a house that was once home to George Boole a famous mathematician and father of Boolean Algebra (used in digital logic design). Having spent almost 40 years teaching that algebra it was a great thrill to walk the streets that he had in the 1800s. It would be almost 100 years later that his Algebra found an application.
You mentioned wanting to go to the Lincoln Christmas Market, unfortunately the council in their wisdom decided to cancel it after the huge crowds post Covid, much to the anger of the locals, many of us want it back. However I would recommend visiting in the August Bank holiday weekend when the Steam Punk festival is on.
It looks interesting, but I’m sorry there are many much more medieval looking cities in Britain than Lincoln , and if you want to see more go to Germany which is a real paradise for medieval cities !
@ why not York ? Yes Canterbury , maybe Salisbury or Chester or Winchester … and in Germany : Regensburg , Rothenburg , Tubingen , Bamberg , Dinkesbuhl , Esslingen …and many others ,which have far far more medieval charm than Lincoln … And by the way I am British , but have to admit that , inspite is terrible ww2 damage , the Germans do much better than us in building harmonious cities ….although there are of course exceptions to the rule like in everything !
@ only because York is too busy! I’ve made. Videos on both Chester and Winchester both great places but thanks for the suggestion on Germany I’m planning to go next year!
@@andrewemmerson Wernigerode, Quedlinbourg ,Goslar,Nordlingen, Celle , Erfurt, Schwabishe Halle , and more ! + Germany’s « half timbered house route », which speaks about over 2 million half timbered houses … Some of these places are just out of this world …when I visit them with my wife we use us very quickly our hand phone cameras !!!
Thankyou Andrew.
Terrific Post.
Many years ago I stayed in the White Hart hotel close to the cathedral
Woke to the Peal of Bells.
Beautiful
Thank you ! Yes I saw the White Heart, looks like a beautiful place to stay.
Lincoln’s great, love the hill with all the little shops and galleries.

As someone who only goes to Lincoln like... 2-5 times every 2 weeks for business stuff... I hate that hill. More accurately, My car hates that hill.
