Did the house have electricity from a land-line source, or run off a generator? Your videos are always so interesting, largely because you research the property and know what you want to show your viewers. Was the property accessible by land (I presume so), or by boat? Would there have been fish or shellfish to eat?
This is the most stunning homestead and church. I cried through most of this episode. I pray it's restored, cared for, and treasured and honored for years to come.
I have a picture on my old laptop of your channel when you and Jordi only had 2k followers; I’ll have to find it!!! I’m so thrilled you finally have the viewers you deserve. Hope 2024 brings you a half million more! So proud of you.
Guys!!! this one was special. The way you presented the story was exquisite. I especially enjoyed the way you both took turns presenting. The lives lived here were blessed to be able to live in such a mythical, magical place, and blessed to be able to spend their eternities buried behind that precious little chapel on their farm. What an existence. What a story. I actually felt honored to see it. Thank you guys!
Hey dear Lesley this was really an absolutely outstanding documentation about the turf houses in Iceland. I also hope, that especially the farmhouse with the diffetent barns is going to be preserved, because I had the impression walking with you through a museum, as everything was so well preserved and left behind in exactly the state, after the last owners have sadly passed away. - The turf church was fascinating to see, and I was so touched, when listening the deep reflections from you and Danny about the trees growing from the graves. - The countryside views are spectacular and with that mist it had a very mystical atmosphere. - You and Danny did again a brilliant job with filming and documenting this remote location in Iceland. - I also loved listening to the historical background facts. A wonderful explore video, which I very much enjoyed watching. Respect, bros! Wishing you all the best, stay safe, peace and kindest regards from Switzerland.
This was a great one, guys! This was a large, spaced-out property in good shape, considering it's been abandoned for years. Seeing Danny in front of the camera was fantastic, and he did an absolutely wonderful job! Thanks for a great tour, guys! Can't wait to see what's up next for y'all!
This is one of my favorites 🎉. They should restore it and give tours once again. Absolutely incredible photography and documentary 🎉 Awesome job 💯 Lesley and Danny!
Can't blame you for standing in awe of the beautiful scenery. If it had been me, I wouldn't have been able to film at all. I love the little grove of trees in the memorial and behind the church. I could spend days just looking around and it still won't be enough.
Right?!!?! ..i love it all too, and want to hike up that mountain so badly! But i really loved that secret clearing with the big boulders, as much as the church grove.. so timeless... :)
Narrator, that is a manual pedal organ. The gentleman who lived in that room was smart keeping it in his small bedroom to keep it warm. The way one makes it play is by pumping the pedals with your feet then play the keys with your fingers. Very excited to see these two brothers had this fine instrument to keep them warm and happy!
I'm sure I'll never visit Iceland, so thank you so much! Danny did a great job of videoing this for you. I hope you appreciate his companionship. Safe travels to both of you!!
If people ever want to know how to survive 'of grid', even in extremely harsh conditions, then an inventarisation of the tools in these barns is a treasure. It surprises me though that these iron roofs of the houses are so poorly insulated, compared to the barns and walls. Maybe in the early days they were also more covered? You two documenting these unique places is so dear, and changing the camera and the storytelling makes it even more lively! Marvelous!!! And me too do hope the Icelandic government will understand how much these places are worth to preserve, in the most original way, with all these belongings of the inhabitants. This is a real world-treasure!!!
The subject was wonderful, but the videography was absolutely stunning and of course I always like seeing you guys! I am so happy for the people of Iceland that they can live in a peaceful place and live long lives.
That is a pump organ. You have to pump those two pedals to build of the air to force the air through the pipes. We had an old one in the Lutheran church in Sitka. We children used to love playing it. The sewing machine upstairs was also manual -- not electric. You would push the treadle and that turned the wheel on the side (like even electric machines have) and that would move the needle up and down through the cloth. So these two items were from before there was electricity to the house. That farm is in one incredibly beautiful spot!!!
This was an ASTOUNDING and BEAUTIFUL documentary of this place! I am completely impressed with your research into the location, the people and the history of all of this. Your exuberance while filming made me feel like a kid again, a kid who loved to explore places just like this and image what it was like living and working there! So much awesome, you two! Thank you again for a wonderful video!😀
What a wonderful, magical place. It literally transports you back in time. Every time I say this is my favorite place the you’ve explored, you take us to another spectacular one, but this my friend may be hard to beat! I hope they never make this place public as it would get ruined by constant traffic. That tool you were holding is called a plane in English and is still used today in the U.S. Thank you so much for letting us travel the world with you!
I have no words!!.....thank you for this tour. One of your best!!. I was unable to keep my eyes away of those MAGICAL mountains, the fog, that little church and the story about the trees...and the house!!......thank you again. Love from Dallas, Texas USA.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Absolutely gorgeous, breathtaking and spectacular. Wow, I could live there no problem. The mountains are, well there are no words for the beauty. Thank you for sharing.
I could feel you guys’ energy in this one, and I was got so excited watching this. Had to be my favorite one! It looks like a place from another world, another dimension. Man, I would love to live there like a year it looked so peaceful. I know it gets cold, but that house was cozy. No wonder Icelandics live so long. I live in the US and people are nice but sometimes they drain the life out of you. Love you guys.
An amazing, interesting video. This place is special and you honored it by the respectful way you show it off. All those who lived there in that beautiful place surely appreciate you honoring it. Spirit never dies.
my goodness. How amazing that farm truly is. I've never seen anything like it before. Its so clean and tidy and well kept. I totally agree with you, it needs to be kept as a museum for all to see and understand how people lived back in the day. Thank you guys so much for sharing this amazing place to us. That mountain view it also stunning. no shortage of water for the people and the farm.
The inside of the barn is amazing! You would never guess it was so big. I love the trees in the graveyard! That's what I want. My daughter wants to visit Iceland. It's amazing. Thanks for this video.
Thank you for sharing these Iceland explores , they are amazing ! The beautiful hillside seemed so alive with wonder the whole explore! 💜 Great documentation!
The wood scraping tool is better known as a plane or planer. I believe the one shown may be a plane because of it's size, certainly larger than my father possessed, but the real answer would come from a wood artisan :) The saw reminds me of one of my father's. I'm 75 & my dad, though an engineer was more like men of old, who were multi-talented in many things because if nothing else, they repaired rather than replaced. I have saved his old tools & my mom's kitchen artifacts (in memorium of the goats shown here, hehe)
Hello, Lesley! It's so nice to watch another video about people's life in Iceland! Amazing scenery and a surprinsingly tiny church!😍 Thank you for sharing the beauty of this special place ,once again ! I wish you a happy New Year and that all your dreams may come true!🎉🎄❣️
I’m new to this channel and have been binge watching all week. This is the most beautiful landscape I have ever seen. The colors are absolutely breathtaking. I wish I could go there and live in that house. I’d leave the USA tomorrow as we now have an open border with terrorists literally coming across daily. I’d feel more safe and peaceful in Iceland. Amazing video Lesley and Danny. 😊❤
вельми дякую, хлопці. це була одна з найліпших локацій, представлених у ваших відео. цікаво, загадково, незвично і просто офігенно! натхнення вам, бо ви надихаєте. greetings from Ukraine.
Fascinating! I love all your videos but Iceland is my favorite, so far. You brought the history alive and made me a part of it. What an incredible history, and breathtaking view! Thank you for the tour.
Buongiorno a voi Lesley e Danny Stupendo questi paesaggi .. l'Islanda è affascinante .. I am so thankful and speechless. That is the most beautiful place in the world. You do such a great job by showing people such places and taking the past alive. I wish I could see this place with my own eyes. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. It really touched me.
I tried to find my earlier comment, written before I saw the automobile, so I could delete the part in which I asked whether the property is accessible by land. I always enjoy your videos and the enthusiasm with which you present them.
Hi guys! I love your videos and don't believe I've missed any yet. I used to loved exploring abandoned places when I was younger, and have to admit that I still do on occasion with my husband. Keep up the great work and please always stay safe my dears. Leslie, you're absolutely adorable!
Utmost respect for those living in this harsh environment stunning beauty …the landscape much reminds me of the Isle of Skye Scotland thank you for sharing this corner of the world …
A fascinating tour! You both do an excellent job researching your locations and presenting them. I understood Iceland had no trees whatsoever. But you found them!
Very well done video, and very interesting! The organ in the bedroom is called a reed organ, and you pump the bellows with your feet to play it. Requires no electricity.
Just Wow! I loved this one so much! Learned so much. Also got a great peek into a world I could never have experienced. Great job. Thank you so much!!!
I am from Iceland. This house is used as a museum. And it is well looked after
😂that's great
I am so glad to hear that.
More history needs to be preserved before it's all lost and gone.
That's brilliant
I was wondering about how well kept it is. But mold is starting in a few spots, so the roof hasn't been seen to lately.😟
i love the respect these men have for the places they explore
Yes, but feel that the old things were handled too much. Care must be taken as they are very fragile.

Grazie.
Ma vorrei sapere perchè,
in Islanda, non ci sono alberi.
Forse sono stati tagliati ??
This home has such a warm vibe. It must have been amazing to have these views everyday. So gorgeous!
