  • This video tutorial talks about large CNC router vcarve projects and how to make them efficient by using the right v bit(v-bit, vbit). We will cover the 120 degree v grooving bit on the Longmill 30x30 CNC router. In this video, you will learn how the right bit with the right feeds and speeds can make a project go extremely fast when carving with v-bits. This works with vcarve of projects and text. This project was done with Vectric vcarve pro software.
    Get your 120 degree v-bit here → bit.ly/3av2mS0
    We will run the Longmill CNC router with the gSender software
    You'll see why there are limits to 30 degree, 60 degree and 90-degree vbits.

    WOW! Garrett that is awesome, I LOVE it. That is one of the bits I received from you a couple of weeks ago and haven't had time to give it a spin, we'll today is the day. I had the same issue with the lacquer spray, uhhg, what a pain that was curled up all the edges of the Oramask, so urethane spray or shellac it is. Also love that you passed on the vexed website, looks great to. Those bits you sent me are AMAZING! The 120 vee I can hardly wait. Thanksgiving weekend end here in Canada so I get to have some CNC fun today. Have an great and awesome week.

    Another great video. I use a laser engraver a lot and one of the things we can do is "FRAME" which is just like this "OUTLINE" function. We can see the path via basically a laser pointer mounted to our machine. I'm sure there would be an easy way to add a pointer to a CNC router machine to get a better reference the machines path when running the "OUTLINE" function. Don't forget about me when ya make some money on this idea. ;)

      @@IDCWoodcraft Tried USG, it is a bit flaky on my main 64bit OS, gSender works better on a new uSD with old Buster OS. Nice to have alternatives, better than TurboCNC on FreeDOS anyway. Also trying LinuxCNC on Pi's. So many ways, the Longmill guys had a path select app, FreeCAD and Inkscape, which is the path I had already installed. The plugins for those are amazing, 3D boxes etc. The home CNC community is huge.

    I am a hobbiest. If I can make money doing something I enjoy it is a win win. I enjoy carving (free hand). I have done many small carvings and in particular have several wood gnome like creations that I enjoy doing. My son wants a chess set done with the wood gnome theme. My question is: is it possible to do something like that using vector aspire, where I would import the picture of the gnome(s) and then cnc the front half of the gnome. It would speed up the process, make the matching pieces actually match and maybe even find a market for the set. I am completely new to Vector but as a computer analyst my understanding of software is usually good enough to ensure a shorter learning curve than many. My Longmill CNC will not be ordered until I have completed my move to West Texas and have set up my new craft room. I am watching all your tutorials and trying to get a gist of what I can and can't do. Thanks for any advice.

    • @IDCWoodcraft
      @IDCWoodcraft  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Dan, I couldn't agree more it's absolutely a win win! You could definitely make gnome themed chess pieces. I would recommend making the front and the back separately and then bonding them together. If you wanted it to be one cohesive piece, this would get tricky! I think you're right about having a smaller learning curve with your background as a computer analyst. I bet you could probably teach me a few things on the Vetric software!
