I feel you should consider redesigning it to add some sort of safety backup. Too much is dependent on the strap not slipping off the heel. Serious foot injury can result if the dumbbell falls on your foot. Perhaps you can have another strap (or the other end of the strap you cut off) attached to the dumbbell itself and the other end to a belt around your waist or even just held in your hand? Great to see innovation! Keep it up!
My idea was to sew some strap to each side of the original loop, by the heel, and then use an attachment mechanism like a push-button or something to attach that to the part that's above the top of your foot.
That's a very clever solution, but here I thought humans had evolved past monkey feet. I'm not sure if it's on topic for the channel, but a deeper dive in how to remain in proper form for the various exercises shown here could be really helpful. I have always been super bad about getting that sort of thing right from just visual clues.
