    First, I am truly amazed that while most other YTers are basically just giving specs, you’ve already got an actual (albeit first look) review out. Great overview. Sad to see the rotating bezel go away! I've had almost all the iterations of Samsung watches since their very first watches and have always been happy with them. Earlier this year I got an Epix 2 because finally Garmin implemented an OLED screen and now I love it to pieces, especially when I use it with GPS for activities and I still get a whole week without having to charge it! I got sick with COVID recently and was not able to work out for 3 weeks and I never had to charge once!, which is crazy! Is it way more expensive? Yes! But it is worth it to me. Now Garmin needs to implement a rotating bezel and it would be golden!

      I think the removal of the bezel was necessary to make a more rugged watch. Less moving parts means less room for breaking and damage. Plus sand and dust could get stuck under the bezel. The bezel was very satisfying to use and nice when the watch was wet though! But I'll take the durability and the battery life.

      @@paterpater100 I've been wearing a watch 4 LTE since it was available to buy. I had it on my wrist while digging holes, using drilling machines, working in rain and dirt and so on. Trust me, I had absolutely no problem.

I ordered a galaxy 5 but only because Samsung offers pretty slick trade in deals for their top end watches. I can tell you the battery life on the galaxy 4 classic was abysmal even after taking measures to reduce drain. It had to go on the charger every night and sometimes sooner if GPS was heavily used.

    How does this Samsung do in terms of AOD and battery?

    Hey DC, I wonder if you could make a video comparing the general android Vs apple ecosystem for health metric tracking and fitness recording etc? I am pretty out of shape and looking to lose weight and build fitness. Currently am using a 3 year old iphone and have an old Fenix 5 but haven't used these items for years and am looking to get a new phone and a watch to help me on my journey with the help of a few apps too. With the iphone 14, the apple watch 8 and samsung fold and s23 coming soon and the fenix 7x solar I was wondering if you could take a bit of a look at the two ecosystems and hardware for the general user who uses tech to motivate and track food intake and calories burned and general fitness improvements over time... I would be super excited to see this from you. Thanks
    p.s. I was thinking of going with Garmin 7x solar and an iphone but it appears that garmin does not sync accurately to apple health and looking at garmin forums garmin have no interesting in remedying this... apparently, feeding garmin data to strava, and then syncing strava with apple health works, but strava have already stopped this function once and reinstated it so moving forward may not be a long term solution...hence my difficulty at deciding which way to go down

    I'd be very interested in your findings regarding the SOS and fall detection. I was able to get the SOS to work only one time and never got the fall detection to work. I have spoken to Samsung tech support at least 100 hours, still the issue remains. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or it's the watch.

    Hey does anyone know if there are differences in battery life between the Bluetooth and LTE models . I currently don't really need the LTE model but I thought it might be worth it to spend the extra money to have access to that feature in case I want to connect it to my plan in the future. I know in years past the LTE versions of watches typically had poorer battery life even when just using it on Bluetooth mode. Is this true for this version?

    A massive benefit over Garmin will be the ability to get the LTE version and safely run without your phone at all. That means being able to call for help and actually talk to the person you call. Garmin's LTE and call features are such gimmicks since you need to have your phone on you and it will still only send pre determined messages.

    • @Dcrainmaker
      @Dcrainmaker  ปีที่แล้ว

      Garmin’s FR945 LTE doesn’t require a phone. But I do agree more generally.

    • @badgerboyEA
      @badgerboyEA ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Dcrainmaker That's true - that watch can send pre-determined messages in an emergency without your phone. But I was surprised to read that even with LTE, the FR945 can't do custom texts, calls, or voice functionality. I can think of many times where I'd want to communicate with my family while running without scaring them with Garmin's SOS message. I'm looking forward to the day when we get a combo of Garmin's HR and GPS sensors and really functional LTE.
