Hullo! I wasn't really sure what to do for Dream initially, but I guess that's how this original series has been going so far with each of these characters (｢･ω･)｢ I knew I wanted to do something with bells, a harpsichord, & piano somewhere etc, but I didn't want to write a track that was too mellow, at least not for these first attempts. An uplifting progression was a natural choice, but I didn't want something that was too "happy go lucky" cheery as this track included part of Malevolence's melody (and could be a bit out of context if I were to style this track to be rainbows and unicorns, per say). I styled the drop at 1:00 to have more "2010 pop-sounding" lead with a lighter bassline, as I wanted the focus to be on the instruments rather than the bass in my other stuff. Overall took about 15 hours & am very happy with the result!◝(⁰▿⁰)◜
THANK YOU FOR NOT GIVING HIM AN OVERLY CUTESY THEME. I love his character and this is perfect for him, great job! It’s a great contrast with malevolence, too!
@@annie.d3026 Yeah, same here. Most people seem to forget he basically abandoned his brother and he felt he had no other option/nothing to lose from eating the apple. This theme is still light and happy but there's still that hardcore part. Everyone seems to forget he's not entirely innocent and its refreshing to see one like this. I should expect no less from the breadstick queen :p
I love how this song portrays Dream's positivity at the same time it gives the listener a feel of the weight and despair that Dreamtale's story has. It really fits Dream's character in the responsibility he carries on his shoulders as a protector of hopes and dreams to the entire multiverse, and the despair that must come with the fact that he's fighting his own brother.

The melody you said you "accidentally stumbled on" allowed us to have a bit of a taste in the last song. The benevolent breadstick queen has allowed us all a full bite of that breadstick. And it is fucking awesome.

This song is so beautiful. I kind of want to play both this one and Malevolence at the same time to see how they fit together. I'm also happy that you didnt make Dream's theme overly childish or sweet, that character doesnt deserve to be treated as a naive child. If you want suggestions for a next theme, maybe Ink sans ? I mean, although I love Tokiovania, you never said it was INK'S theme, so maybe another music with a bit of Tokio in it ? Otherwise, maybe you could do Reaper Sans or Geno sans ?

Ya know when I first heard Malevolence the two distinct melodies in the song just made me think of both sides of Nightmare. The rougher one at the beginning reminded me of his corruption but the smoother one in the middle made me think of who he use to be. The abused guardian who loved his brother and just wanted to enjoy his books in peace. This song with the light and slightly peppy melody for dream along with the smoother part of the other just made me think of the brothers when they were younger and happy together, and I absolutely love it!!
This song means more to me than people can probably understand. I've been using Dream as a vessel for myself for years and years, completely rewriting them and putting every ounce of my own person into a character I can write for. I've never liked themes for them, sense the character became so personal to me that I couldn't relate any of the songs to the person in my mind. Despite having been a fan of Shara sense 2015, when this song released, I was uninterested. I usually listened to Shara's songs, but I skipped out on this one sense I thought that I wouldn't care much for it. Several months later, I was incredibly sad. I wasn't able to figure out what to do, and I wanted to listen to some music, hesitantly, I clicked, and the song brought me to tears. This is what hope sounds like to me. The light instruments but used in such an intense way make the song sound like it's screaming that it will go on. It's not cheerful, it's a battle. It's hopeful, but not in a light way. Hope doesn't mean pretending nothing's wrong. It's about keeping on going because no matter how horrible things can get, your only savior can be your own hope that things will get better one day. This is the only way to hang onto that. I listen to this song only at my darkest of times to help me remember what hope feels like. I've never been able to describe the experience I have listening to this song to other people, but I can understand it myself. Thank you SharaX.

I absolutely love it. Though I've been thinking, Ink never really got his own song. I mean, everybody keeps thinking Tokyovania is his song, but it really isn't, it was for Sans and Papyrus. And then "An Inking Mistake" yeah that's partially his song, but it's more of an Ink VS Error song. I think Ink deserves his own TRUE song by now to be honest, don't you think? Edit: Oh, Nyx came out with Brushwork huh? Sounds great! Though, I still want to see what Sharax could come up with. Nyx is pretty great too, but I would love to see an original song by Sharax for Ink, just like Sharax did for Error, Dream, Nightmare, Fresh, ect. I think it'd be pretty fair if Ink got one too! That good ol' inky boi deserves one! ^^ Plus, I feel like Brushwork gives me a vibe more of the whole "kanji" type of thing. It feels more focused on the brush, and less on Ink himself.
Although, yes, Nightmare is able to feel Dream's feelings and emotions, Dream has to stay positive as Nightmare feeds off of negative energy to grow stronger. Another thing is that why the hell would Nightmare care? I mean his main mission is, well, is to kill Dream. This may be irrelevant but somewhere I read, Dream has to stay away from Nightmare because his negative energy is too overwhelming and powerful to the point Dream is physically weakened by it. So how can Nightmare feel his negative energy if he's too far away? This may not be canon though, but I read somewhere on a website that says this is canon so I'm just referencing to that. Edit: Also, just to let you know if don't already know, Dream isn't a God. Dream is a *replacement guardian* .

Cause personally I see Ink's emotions as theirs, it's their natural response -they just need something to help them do so.

Everyone speaks about the drop at 1:05, including SharaX. In my opinion tho, the "drop" at 0:35 is also pretty cool. The "ai" (xD) voices reflect Dream's past, together with the melody, showing his braveness and hope. The drop at 1:05 is also awesome, like the entire song, but that part just rocks.
I'm sobbing and I don't know if it's because my emotional attachment to Dream and Nightmare and (love but) hate them fighting, or the song is really really fricking good and I have a feeling it's both-
The comic just shows how close they were how nightmare always cares for dream and even hiding the fact that he gets abused by the townsfolk when dream is away physically abusing him But in the end he really have to eat the fruit in order to Survive because he was about to get killed
I love how Malevolence and Benevolence use the same sort of leitmotif, perfectly fits. It also weirdly reminds me of something that feels quite nostalgic or melancholic.
Dream is not just about good vibes and radiant positivity, beneath that shimmering smile is a warrior looking to try and make things right with his emotionally scorned brother. It's my birthday today and not gonna lie, I've been in a pretty melancholy state all day but seeing the notification pop up that SharaX uploaded and posted an amazing new song really helped cheer me up a bunch. Been around listening for around 5 years now and SharaX's music and art has the power to put a smile on my face every time I hear or see it. Thanks for existing, SharaX.
In this video, you can see that Dreams cape is yellow, this is a slight nod to the fact that I was listening to this while eating a cup of macaroni and cheese
It was a good call not making this song overly peppy, because I think in spite of Dream's intents and purposes, he's not really as over the top. He misses his brother and hates that they can't go back to being children that love each other. Thank you for this surprisingly mature track, SharaX.

It makes complete sense that Dream's and Nightmare's songs would have the same melody and underlying feel to them. They are brothers, after all. I like how the melody sounds more hopeful and optimistic in this version, where in Malevolence it sounded sad and, compared to this version, corrupted. I realize you probably want to move on from DreamTale, but I am curious to see a blend of Malevolence and Benevolence, in Dream and Nightmare's battle theme.
I absolutely love how there's that melody from Malevolence, but has a totally different theme. I love these bros, and the themes you've made for them. Keep it up, Shara! ❤️
Last month i relisten almost every your song, and i've gotta say that this is one of my favorites. The idea of an eternal fight for saving the balance, of an infinite exhaustion feels in this song, and so does motif of hope and light, rising with the dawn. It's an amazing song, amazing in it's sad and happy at the same time mood.
My guess is bc he was stone for 494 years so he hasn’t mentally aged so I’d probably still acting and looks like a 6 year old but he is a really cool and badass character

From the characters of Dream and Nightmare, the name of the songs being Benevolence and Malevolence being intertwined with their traits, and just the tone of the two songs antagonizing each other just creates a blend that I really enjoy. Great Job.

Corrupted Dream! There's an amazing AU for that where Dreamtale is reversed and Dream's the one that gets corrupted instead and I really wanna see you do something for that! Everyone speaks about the drop at 1:05, including SharaX.
In my opinion tho, the "drop" at 0:35 is also pretty cool. The "ai" (xD) voices reflect Dream's past, together with the melody, showing his braveness and hope. The drop at 1:05 is also awesome, like the entire song, but that part just rocks.
I'm sobbing and I don't know if it's because my emotional attachment to Dream and Nightmare and (love but) hate them fighting, or the song is really really fricking good and I have a feeling it's both-
The comic just shows how close they were how nightmare always cares for dream and even hiding the fact that he gets abused by the townsfolk when dream is away physically abusing him

I love how Malevolence and Benevolence use the same sort of leitmotif, perfectly fits. It also weirdly reminds me of something that feels quite nostalgic or melancholic.

It makes complete sense that Dream's and Nightmare's songs would have the same melody and underlying feel to them. They are brothers, after all. I like how the melody sounds more hopeful and optimistic in this version, where in Malevolence it sounded sad and, compared to this version, corrupted.
I realize you probably want to move on from DreamTale, but I am curious to see a blend of Malevolence and Benevolence, in Dream and Nightmare's battle theme.

Last month i relisten almost every your song, and i've gotta say that this is one of my favorites. The idea of an eternal fight for saving the balance, of an infinite exhaustion feels in this song, and so does motif of hope and light, rising with the dawn. It's an amazing song, amazing in it's sad and happy at the same time mood.
