I remember being shocked to see American cars stepping off the plane. They looked like they were made with t-squares and protractor's, limited to 45 and 90 degree angles. A prime example being the 3rd and 4th generation Caprice Classic's. Designed with a straight edge, like the 80's Lincoln Town Car, not one rounded corner other than the wheels. Plus they all looked huge, epically the 70's cars that were still common then. But I diverge, interesting ad from the 80's indeed.

Judging by the inclusion of the Z28, this ad was produced between 1982-1984. Z28 introduced in 82 and was dropped and replaced by the IROC-Z in 85.
