When did you film this? Obviously not this year, that walkway under the street was renovated recently. You have similar underpass walkways in basically every big European city, its not always entrance to the metro. Belgrade also have several underground stations, but for city railway. That is TEMPLE, not cathedral (name used only in Western christianity). That mosque is definitely not among communist style buildings since its located in the Old town area, where 90% of buildings is built in pre-ww2 era.
Hi! Thank you all for this information and for helping us understand all better. Yes it was filmed last year :) It was new for me to see the underground walkways !
@@yourtravelfriendanna no prob, just i saw by that walkway that something is off since now they look much better, they were a big problem for years and rundown.
In English it translates as church, temple would be a literal translation. Cathedral which is a greek word isn't used only in west Christianity. We say Saborna crkva so we wouldn't use a foreign word.
Things to visit: 1. Kalemegdan fortress - there is an army museum there and also you can book a catacomb tour 2. Saint Sava's temple 3. National museum 4. Nikola Tesla museum 5. Saint mark's church 6. Skadarlija street in the evening for some great music and food 7. Knez mihailova street 8. Take a walk next to the parlament and the city parlament 8. Zemun with gardos tower Also, takw a day trip to Novi Sad with the train. It only takes 30 minutes to get there and Novi Sad looks very different from Belgrade, there you can visit the city center, Matica Srpska museum, The national museum od Vojvodina and Petrovaradin fortress. Have fun!

Dušan Stefan Nemanjić, the Strong, was the son of King Stefan Dečanski, king of Serbia from 1331. He was crowned emperor of the Serbs, Greeks and Arbanas in Skopje in 1346. During his reign, Serbia was at the height of its power, stretching from the Gulf of Corinth in the south to the Danube in the north and from the Adriatic in the west to the Aegean Sea in the east. He regulated relations in the state with a collection of laws (Dušan's Code), which was published in 1349 and supplemented in 1354, and which historians consider the constitution of the then feudal Serbian state He mysteriously died in full force at the age of 45.

There is no Ottoman influence in Belgrade. Ottomans came from Asia and were picking up food and customs, even clothing from other nations. They didn't bring anything.
@@yourtravelfriendanna No, they didn't because they didn't bring anything. They invaded and placed those that collect taxes (new term) and they used to come back when people were uprising, when they were steeling children and when they went to invade further Europe. If you see the architecture, it is all European and Byzantine (Eastern Roman). They forced Islam on some people mostly in Bosnia. They also took women. That was the case not only in Serbia but other Balkan countries as well as Ukraine and Russia. Current Turks are mixture of various nations. Bulgaria forced Muslims to go to Turkey, Yugoslavia allowed them to go to Turkey and cancelled their Yugoslav passports and naturalization. According to some reports there are about 10,000,000.00 Serbian people that went to live to Turkey or were forcibly taken during the ottomans such as about 3,000 families to construct and maintain sewer (I think this is well documented). They preserved their language and largely their customs and now they have all adopted Islam as their religion. I am not sure whether their church still exists in Istanbul. As a result of Ottoman rule and them taking taxes, Serbs developed farms to raise pigs because Ottomans didn't eat pork meat. They became the biggest suppliers of pork meat to Europe.
@@teamacio9043 Ottomans came came from Asia, where do you see Asian food? Turkik tribes were adopting food, clothing and words from people they were coming across. Some words were used by Serbs to describe that Ottomans were there ore went through or that they took over some building or region. Doesn't mean they created it. Stop making up.

You're entitled to your opinion but please respect that part of visiting a new destination is doing my best to absorb what I can of history, present day life, culture and understand as much as possible. My experience of western education does not go into fine detail Serbian history, however the reverse could be said about Canadian history for Eastern European schools.
We have LOTS to learn about one another, and my video only shows a portion of what I learnt + experienced during my short visit. I have since been back to Belgrade...twice already + have much more to understand...always!

Thank you...❤
Thanks for being here!
Welcome beautiful 😊🌸
Hvala!
Ti si jako lepa devojka 🥰
✌🏻
you visited during winter it’s more beautiful now !
Always summer represents a city best!
@@yourtravelfriendanna here it’s probably spring or fall. Summer is beautiful but insanely hot !
Our Serbia iz beautiful country.
Yes, some unique areas to be discovered
Would you recommend it for Solo travel? As a girl?
Yes! Spring - fall would be better for more daylight, however I was a solo female traveller + "survived". Join a walking tour or hostel to make friends!
Serbia is a nice country!
It was a pleasant surprise!
Thanks for showing us, well, I suppose your face. I'll check out some Belgrade videos on youtube I guess. The people there are beautiful also. We wouldn't know from this video. But we can see clearly the style of mascara you have on :)
Sounds like you’re interested in seeing more of the surrounding area?
I went to visit serbia in July 2024
This sounds like an awesome idea! The patios will be buzzing, and walks along the river will be so nice!
Gradili su arhitekte iz Carske Rusije, najlepsa zdanja koja su jos i dan danas ..
Hi! Thank you all for this information and for helping us understand all better. Yes it was filmed last year :)
It was new for me to see the underground walkways !
I am from India 🇮🇳
Welcome!
That question when you entered Temple 'Where im I in what country?' You just entered Kingdom of God and his Church. Home.
Perhaps!
Hi, do you plan to visit any neighbouring countries next?
Hey! I’ve continued to explore the Balkans and have a whole series of videos on Montenegro up!
The way you pronounced the currency is really off the wall.
Yes...there's room for improvement! Other people's comments have helped me understand the breakdown better
Have u been in Paja Jovanovic museum during your stay?
Ah no I didn't go! What was it I missed?
I like serbia girl but I am from India 🇮🇳 😊
Sounds like you need to visit Serbia
Welcome
Merci!

Did you know that the relics of Emperor Dušan the Great rest in the church of St. Mark?
I didn't! What was Emperor Dušan the Great known most for?
Dušan Stefan Nemanjić, the Strong, was the son of King Stefan Dečanski, king of Serbia from 1331. He was crowned emperor of the Serbs, Greeks and Arbanas in Skopje in 1346. During his reign, Serbia was at the height of its power, stretching from the Gulf of Corinth in the south to the Danube in the north and from the Adriatic in the west to the Aegean Sea in the east.
He regulated relations in the state with a collection of laws (Dušan's Code), which was published in 1349 and supplemented in 1354, and which historians consider the constitution of the then feudal Serbian state
He mysteriously died in full force at the age of 45.

Hi can i request go to the vladislav ribnikar elementary school, btw i like your travel videos😊
Hey! Why do you recommend visiting this school? I'm glad you've enjoyed them :)
@@yourtravelfriendanna Because I want to see what the school looks like, and I want you to know the story of that school.please🙏🥺
@@yourtravelfriendannahe is a sick person that hates Serbs. He recomended that school because there was a massive killing of children last year, when one psyhopat boy (13 years old) shooted 12 students from 11-14 years old. Anyway that is very good school, where children learn franch language from the first grade, english from 5th and italian from 7th. They are getting there great education, and it is sad that now it is known because of the tragedy that happend instead for having a great students and teachers.
@@yourtravelfriendanna The first school shooting in Serbia happened in that school, when a ''student'' killed 9 students and a member of the guard, on May 3, 2023. There are sick people everywhere, regardless of whether they are in Serbia or in the world. "user-mh6mj1wo9f" knows all this information, but she didn't write it to you. She wants you to go and take pictures of the school (there are a lot of photos of that school on the Internet). As I said, there are sick people everywhere...
Next time you arrive in Serbia, contact me for Serbian food and history tour.
Ah do you offer vegetarian food tours? I understand this isn’t traditional food but perhaps the dishes that are veggue
@@yourtravelfriendanna
Sorry, but food without meat or dairy products are not traditional Serbian dishes. It need to be consisted of meat. That is traditional. But there are some vegetable dishes typical for our country that are used in the months of fasting prior Christmas and Easter. Also traditional.
Ah yes, I've become familiar with Posno dishes. And have really enjoyed some of the side dishes that are typically served with meat :)

And yes.As far as I can see,you glave problems with the Serbian language. 01:20 min....😁Ok,no big deal. The Serbian language Is actully very easy to read, because you literally read and pronounce every letter. So just pronounce "dinar" easily ....😏😁
Ah, thanks for the correction!
It's the A's that give me trouble, however the tip to breakdown and pronounce every letter most definitely has been helpful as I've continued travel to Crotia and Montenegro too.

There is no Ottoman influence in Belgrade. Ottomans came from Asia and were picking up food and customs, even clothing from other nations. They didn't bring anything.
Do you think it'd be accurate to say when they arrived, they influenced the architecture + culture?
Kalemegdan, Dorcol, Karaburma, Topcider, Terazije, Tasmajdan... ottoman names. Bajrakli mosque, zavod zastite spomenika building, ? kafana... -ottoman buildings. Cevapi, sarma, burek, baklava... -ottoman food...
