Bro, all these guys with travel videos are doing it wrong, the best thing in Serbia are the clubs and the night life. I mean food is great, and if you are into churches, whatever, but make sure you go out at night, find a rock concert, or go bar hopping. Have some local take you around.

We visited Serbia last year and we absolutely loved it, from north to south (including Kosovo & Metohia) - Subotica - Belgrade - Nish - Prizren were all amazing

I lived in Serbia at Belgrade for a month on holiday from Australia. I had a comfortable appartment just near The Temple of Saint Sava. Every day I was able to be out and about using public transport to feel the city and see the landmarks. The Belgrade Fortress and Beo Aqua Adventure Parks were some of my favourite places. I look forward to going back and exploring Serbia more.

The Uvac gorge, Tara, Grdelica gorge... are simply astonishing!
However, what makes Serbia amazing is the people! (Nikola Tesla, Mileva Marić Einstein, Ivo Andrić, Novak Djokovic, Nikola Jokić....) Perhaps the most hospitable in the WORLD! ✌️🌍
Nikola Tesla has nothing to do with Serbia. He visited Serbia once, for few Hours and thats all.

His favorite poet lived in Serbia and Tesla co-published a book of translated Serbian poetry. His ashes, papers and personal effects are in Belgrade. His will gave his belongings to his nephew who lived in Belgrade at the time of his death.
Greek American, next time I go to Greece I want to go to Serbia before. Belgrade and Novi Sad. Half of the time I drink here in Chicago it's with a Serb anyway.

These 3 cities are the largest cities in Serbia apart from Belgrade, and are incredibly rich in culture and tradition, especially my town where I was born and grew up which is Kragujevac, I look forward to seeing you visiting them. I was always impressed with how you guys from abroad see our country Serbia, and our beloved Belgrade. When I see that you're so pleasantly surprised I have a kind of mixed emotions. On the one hand, I am happy to see that some "foreigners" can feel and enjoy the full beauty of my city. And than again it makes me sad when you're surprised how nice is our people and how beautiful can be our city, reminding me that before coming, you might had a serious misconception of what and who we are... Guys like you are more than a precious showing at least to some circle of people the real picture of Serbs and Serbian cities, like Belgrade.

The way you eat burek is, you take a bite and then take a sip of yogurt while the burek is still in your mouth... I never thought it was a strange concept, but foreigners always seem to get it wrong.
But they know the concept when they eat burger with cola, so it is not that they don't know how to mix it. But I think they are simply not used to yogurt, they think it should be something sweet, and they are confused when they discover that yogurt is not sweet, so they are not familiar with the concept of mixing salty and salty.

@@nusproizvodjach Anyway, they did not get yogurt at all. To be honest, yogurt in Serbia is sth pretty unique. Its different from what they call yogurt in Germany, Hungary or Turkey. But they missed it out completely, cause they were not prepared for that.

With yogurt, my dear - Burek and yogurt compliment each other! Actually it's yogurt-drink or Buttermilk as we called it in the States (but I could be wrong)! Food is basically what I miss the most from my native Serbia/Yugoslavia!

Now I know why my mom always drank buttermilk in North America. It's not really yoghurt. And the pavlaka is sour cream. But we never ate burek because it seems to be street food in Serbia. We always ate gibanica (a cheese and egg phyllo dough pie) or pita (not like in America where it means the round flat bread). Usually our pita was made with feta cheese. Sometimes with added spinach, and sometimes just sauerkraut.

For the Saint Sava temple fun fact, the head in the dome is 4m from ear to ear 🙂

Welcome to Belgrade, Singidunum, or as J.R.R. Tolkien's Minas Tirith.
Belgrade is much older than 2000 years - at least double that. Celts built first settlement on where is Kalemegdan now (Singidunum), but it has been razed to ground or destroyed and rebuild 44 times. And you might be in luck to prove that yourself - there are current building works near national parliament building, that you will surely pass by as visitors, where new Roman-times buildings are discovered just days ago.

As you rightly pointed out, Serbian cuisine had many different influences over centuries. For example, the Burek "pronounced Boo-rek" is a legacy from the Ottoman presence.

My proposal which places you should visit in Belgrade: In addition to Sveti Sava church visit Russian church on Tasmajdan, Belgrade underground caves, candy shop in Gavrila Principa Street, Konak Kneza Milosa in Topcider, Kosancicev venac , Skadarlija.

Great video guys! Good job with the breakfast and the lunch. You should try our coffee - domestic or turkish coffee as it's also called (but ask the waiter to explain you what to drink and what not).
The desert I recommend is baklava.
Some other nice places in BG are:
- Gardoš fortress in Zemun
- Ada Ciganlija (Belgrade beach)
- Splavovi (floating rafts usually bars, restaurants and clubs on the Sava and Danube rivers)

The Ukrainians and Russians who are settling there to escape the war/draft or for political reasons are making the city much more expensive.
