So, before starting my own time playing FF14, I watched no less than 5 different streamers play through the entire story. When I did finally play, the only thing I skipped was Stormblood, mainly because I knew that the story (which I had already experienced multiple times) just wasn't for me. But I made damn sure after buying the skip to go back and do each dungeon in Stormblood so I wouldn't be blindsided if I did get one of those dungeons in a roulette, and did a lot of practicing with my main jobs at the 60-70 rotations. And honestly, as long as you know what you're doing in the content, then I don't care if you skip or not.
If you've seen it on streams it's fine I guess. As long as you didn't miss out on events in the expansion
Jesus Christ Haru needs to chill a bit when he watches videos. The dude misses out on half the video by sscreaming "Yooo wtf!", reading chat and getting distracted with off topic subjects. all the damn time. Quick tip. Everytime you pause for whatever reason just hit the back arrow once to go back 5 seconds and continue. Makes reactions to thins a million times better....and maybe some ADHD medication. xD
I got used to that. The worst part is when he goes on a rant about high end mechanics that I couldn't care less about while the video is still playing lol. The amount of jokes he misses every video because he has to go on a rant everytime he hears the word machinist... still love him though
Yeah I was in Anamnesis Anyder and the Pally didnt know how to mitigate, didn't know its invuln didnt provoke after death had 5 vuln stacks on the last boss and so on and when told it was recommended they mitigate and read their tips they didn't do shit. So yeah one reason the pacing has to be that way
Skipping is a complicated matter, like, I like the lore heavy cutscenes, but there are some there are essentially "Hi, I'm person. Welcome" or arriving at the new location and the cutscene being like "Welcome to location. You're here.". I wish I could have a feel for when the scenes would be more lore loaded. That's why, call me crazy if you want, I'll make at least two character. One to rush through and experience the gameplay, and just take in on the next character.
You don't necessarily need a second character since they have New Game+ to play through again on your existing character. But I can see why some would prefer a wholly new character

But For me and my fiancee, we were simply very lucky to have met people who are simply just open about themselves, while we are just as open to others about ourselves as well.

Yeah, buying a story/levelskip to go straight to the meat and potatoes. I know at least 3 people in my FC is guilty of this. Hecc myself included at the beginning (DRG), untill I leveled WHM from the bottom up. I just wanted to run the Nier raids, as I am a pretty big Nier fan.
I rushed through the main story, while still watching the parts of it that were the movie parts. My friends were at Stormblood while I was in ARR, so I mostly skipped the side-content, and I just did all the main story quests.
Question:
Would it be wrong to comment "Should you fap to final fantasy 14? Well yes of course, it has Haru in it"? Or would it be okay to say that? XD

As a new player I'm only skipping cutscenes that aren't voice acted and don't involve recurring characters, so pretty much every little bit of fetch quest cutscene dialogue I skip.

There never has been a bad expansion of FFXIV. All of them good, just a matter of HOW GOOD are varying degrees of good between them
Stormblood is like the filler episode in every anime between two arcs xD

And yes, it is long. But it's good.
Also, the manga is decent if you want higher quality and no filler, but ofc you'll have to read you gremlin.
you can say stromblood is better than heavenwards not in term of story but so many things actually improved like dungeon for instance and isn't Ultimate fight introduce in stromblood?

ah yes, one of the people who generalize playstyles with their own preferences..,
(there are high parses who solely click, as well as hybrids.., everyones got their own way, as well as drawbacks.., some got small hands, or no reach.., i got reach.., but cant be bothered to macro the rest..,)
Having just beaten Stormblood in the FF14 myself. I can say the only thing i disliked. Was the guest created 24 man raids. And the fact nothing substantial happened regarding the overarcing narrative for the whole expansion. Maybe that changes in ShB or EW but i ain't got to those. So no spoilers.

try watching bleach its at around 300 to 400 episodes not THE best story but the fight scenes o the fight scenes are the best

When it comes to people that skip the story, I feel very sorry for them, and also disappointed, but shrug and say, "As long as you're ok with paying $15 a month + $40 for the Complete edition and $60 for EW, for just 20% of the experience, then ok. More money to the devs to make more of make it better is never a bad thing. BUT, if you advertise yourself as a story skipper, knowing how much said story is beloved by 95% of the fanbase, and then bitch when you get a hard time because of it? No sympathy from me. And if you boast about story skipping to troll others, then you're just a dick and the problem is you. And if you story skip and job skip as well, you better be ready to prove you know what you're doing, accept advice from those that do, or research the crap out of playing your class optionally and also research common game mechanics on TH-cam, otherwise prepare to be harassed to high hell for it, deservedly so. The MSQ is two fold: there for the story, and there to pace learning about your job and game mechanics in a gentle way to make sure it's beaten into your noggin so it becomes muscle memory when you hit current content.

I think the story puts weight into dungeons and raids you may run hundreds of times and that makes those runs that much more satisfying, to me.

Except at the end of the day, he seemed to have enjoyed the game, just not the leveling.
Which is WHY he ended up just macro-snoring through it, most likely, as the other option was just not getting through the grindy bits.
He also clarified that he stopped using macros when - and I quote - "got some actually interesting buttons to press".
So to translate the meaning of his case in full - He found leveling so boring that he rather spent time with a sub-optimal method while being able to just select a target, press a button and do literally anything else than sit through the process.
