I've owned 15 of these bloody things since my first one in 1993. I still own 3 of them. Some more things to look out for..... *The wiper mechanism will break the ends off the rods going to the wiper arms. There is a rose joint mod to fix this. *The diffs wine. They just do. It's an inherent problem with the Borg Warner 78 differential. They are bitches to shim properly, and finding a decent diff technician to do the job is tough these days. *The hosetail rb30 injectors always leaked. Check around the injectors and fuel rail for fuel.....hell, you'll smell it before you see it. Easy enough to fix these days with an o-ring style fuel rail and some modern injectors with adaptors. *The odometers rarely work anymore. This is because people try to reset the trip meter while the car is moving. It strips the cog. Replacement cogs can be purchased on eBay.....but keep in mind, if the odometer doesn't work then the Kay's are definitely not correct. It could say 150,000 but could be 500,000. *Heater box under the dash can leak coolant into the cabin, either from a leaking core or perished hoses. Check for damp carpet under the dash and a funky sweet coolant smell. Also, cars with leaking heater boxes will have a slimy haze on the inside of the windscreen. Have fun ripping the entire dash out to fix it. You will definitely invent new swear words and cut yourself 17 times doing this. *The diffs still whine..... *If it's a wagon check the tailgate lock.....it's most definitely broken and hard to open/doesn't lock. *The auto boxes are a RE4R01A made by Jatco. If it's flaring in gears, it's fucked. The clutches are rooted. Don't waste time with new fluid and a filter....it needs a rebuild. A better option is to find a RE4R01B from a R33. It will bolt in. They have better valve bodies, larger oil pumps and stronger clutches. *Apart from the handbrakes sucking donkey balls.....check the actual handbrake cables themselves. The rubber boots on the end perish and split, allowing the ingress of water and dirt causing them to seize up. Good luck finding replacements.....making deals with the devil or selling first born children won't even help you get new ones. *Check the power steering rack for leaks. If you look at doing a S13 front conversion, try to get the S13 rack as well...or find a R32 rack. These are known to be more reliable (less leaky) than the Aussie ones. *The diffs whine....fucking deal with it. With all that said...are they good cars? Yeah. I love them, always have. Would I recommend someone buy one? NO. Absolutely not. Especially you young guys wanting a cool car.....save yourself the headache/heartache. Parts are hard to find, prices of stuff is fucking stupid at the moment. They honestly don't handle that good unless you throw a bucket of cash at them. They are very easy to break into/steal. In all honesty, you are best off forking out the cash for a 180 or s-chassis car....or an R32. Better suspension, better diffs, better brakes. Are they boxy cool like a 31? @@ksap1587 both the Skyline and Pintara are R31s. Same chassis prefix. And you can't just 'plop' a rb30 into the pinny.....the engine cross members are different. Also, the gearbox cross member is different.....and the tailshaft....and the diff. It's easier to just get a Skyline to begin with. I'm not saying it can't be done, it can....but you need the entire driveline and wiring harness/ecu out of a Skyline to do it. I need help with my skyline that I bought for $500 2 months ago and I don’t know much as I have been into cars my whole life and I’m so greatful because this is my first ever car and it runs I need a muffler and I need tail lights and my engine has that ticking thing it’s really loud it’s all I hear while driving if you see this and get back to me that would be great thank you!
Hey man how bad is the ticking? Is it excessive? Might need lifters replaced
@@Marc180sx yeah it’s really excessive it ticks faster when I accelerate
I would say it needs to have lifters replaced and see if it has good oil pressure going to the head! Oil pump may be weak also
@@Marc180sx where can I get someone to fix it?

Wheels?
Subbed bro, looking at getting one as I'm watching this
Thanks heaps bro! Hopefully you get one 🙏
Great video bro keep it up brother
Cheers mr duddles 👌
@@Marc180sx no worries brother
Hi bud great vid, i just got a 31 as well its an auto with the 3.7s/3.9s not entirely sure. I want to convert to 4.11s lsd not locker, what diff do i buy? Thanks bud love the 31 content
Nice man and cheers! You want the pintara diff centre man, they are the 4:11’s
Just the centre won't work. They are 25 spline axles. You want the pintara crown wheel and pinion, then fit them to a bw78 LSD centre which has 28 spline axles.
Hey bro just brought a silhouette but I love your mag setup what size and offset are your wheels and does the 31 need rolled guards to run them
Hey bud cheers and congrats on the silo,
My wheels are 15x9 0 offset and all guards are rolled and lipped 😁
Could you therotically Swap out some parts for a r32 like the trans and even maybe a engine
Yes sir all RB’s from all the skylines will bolt in if you use the rb30/20 mounts and brackets and all gearbox’s fit :)
With s13 fronts does it feel nice and tight like a s13? Obviously different chassis
i want one so bad but dont have the spare money
They’re sick man save up for one!
They look nicer then r32 and 34 imo 👀
When are you gonna supercharge the qu
Not for a while I still want to enjoy it the way it is plus need to fund it 😅
Hey mate love the vids just wondering what length is the one piece tailshaft is?
Hey mate cheers! I can’t remember from memory it was a long time ago haha, I just took the standard shaft with me to a driveshaft joint and the made me up one
my r31 is having a problem misfiring from 1.7k and lower, i cant find why its doing it
What year liberty are the side skirts from and I’m assuming their off a sedan?
Hey, I'm trying find one of these to drive on my p's, I'm interested in drifting it, have you got any advice for the s13 front end conversion? because this is going to be my first car where I actively work on it and I'm excited but a little nervous to incase I do something wrong.
Hey man they’re great drift cars, s13 front end is pretty straight forward just use all s13 stuff and use n14 pulsar rack ends and s13 tie rods
@@Marc180sx do I need any adaptors to fit the s13 coilovers in the 31 strut tower?
Only if you do rears the fronts bolt straight on!
@@Marc180sx thanks
Just drill an extra hole to fit the S13 rear struts 😏
where did u get it the projector?
How have the peedingrods lasted you? I really want to get some low for my car but I'm broke and cant drop a grand on suspension
They’ve been great man I’m 3 track days in on them and they’ve help up fine, also been sweet on the street
as a 14 yr old in australia does anybody reccomend how to buy a “cheap” skyline and where from, any tips?
You could look at a Nissan pintara
have you ever had to replace the weather stips or belt stips on the windows if so how
Nah haven’t replaced those yet but have taken them off other cars they’re pretty easy to do
@@Marc180sx have seen them at the wrecker but there all stiff as a rock any way to make a new felt lining for them or something. Thanks for the reply
Nah bro, I wanna buy a Kia Stinger
Fk yeah up the stinger 😍
Me reading the comments while owning a 88 skyline for three hours … send help😅😅
You forgot about door sag 🎵
Yeah good one! More predominant in the coupes and pillarless ones
Anyone know what rims he's got?
wish this came out like last year lol fuck
Ahh damn hahaha
Look like Hong Kong taxi in the 70s
What engines are Nissan pintaras ?
Ca20 2.0ltr 4cly
What are your thoughts on a Nissan pintara?
Pintaras are great to begin with, ca20’s aren’t the fastest thing but you can always plop an rb30 in it
Marc180sx Ye thanks I was looking at Nissan pintara do you know if you can put r31 parts on a pintara. I have tried to do some research but can’t find anything
@@ksap1587 mostly everything will fit but the engine stuff is all different
@@ksap1587 both the Skyline and Pintara are R31s. Same chassis prefix.
And you can't just 'plop' a rb30 into the pinny.....the engine cross members are different. Also, the gearbox cross member is different.....and the tailshaft....and the diff.
It's easier to just get a Skyline to begin with.
I'm not saying it can't be done, it can....but you need the entire driveline and wiring harness/ecu out of a Skyline to do it. Then you have the hassles of changing the engine numbers on the rego, which will need a full blue slip check, and maybe even an engineer's report.
Just bought it at 17 and I need so much help aha him if anyone can help me out ahaha 😢😅😅
Hmuuuu
stop calling em equips, cheers
Sorry mate, love your 31 by the way been following it
