The part when Cindy tells the grinch that she wants him to help her mom made me tear up. The way the grinch reacted to it really showed this growth. His heart kind of changed when she told him that.
I really liked the movie too. As someone who’s introverted, I totally relate to feeling uncomfortable in crowds and being around other people especially ones I don’t know. I also liked your comment about reviewers not being fair towards certain animated films. Though did you find some critics who didn’t enjoy the Grinch felt their criticisms were fair regardless? Good job, Stefan!
If somebody didn't like how the story was extended, wasn't invested in Cindy Lou Who's subplot, disagreed with Benedict Cumberbatch's decision to voice the Grinch with an American accent or didn't find the jokes funny, those are fair criticisms. I would disagree with them, but I could understand where they were coming from.
I will admit that while I'm not that big of a fan of this movie, I will defend it as the better Grinch movie for the following reason: It doesn't mess up its message with a villain that destroys the universality of the message. Plus the backgrounds are gorgeous and Cindy Lou's plot was neat. I'll still say the best versions are the book and Chuck Jones cartoon, but I can't get negative at this movie.
I’m personally not a fan of this Grinch or Illumination in general but I’m glad you like it, you even made some points I never really thought of before good review
My favorite of the Seuss adaptation films will always be Horton hears a who. Though the Grinch definately comes Second. And I’ll say The Grinch is definately my third favorite of the illumination films under the two Despicable me films.
Thank goodness your video came by after that terrible review by that so-called Nostalgia Critic. What I just don't get is that he didn't like the 2000 version for being too adult and now he nitpicked the heck out of this version for being too juvenile? It is so hard to please some people.
I actually watched this movie on Netflix recently and was surprised by how good it was. While not as great as the TV cartoon, it is a VAST improvement on the live-action film. Definitely worthy of annual holiday viewing.
I actually really enjoyed the ending to this movie. It was relatable to me as someone who is more introverted than others.Nervous about what other think of me, worried about saying the wrong thing, looking like a fool, starting conversations. The movie is not amazing by any means but I actually admire that the movie didn't just try to tell the same kind of story the original or the Jim Carrey film did. Sometimes you gotta see a movie for what it is, rather than what it isn't.
This is very good and neccessary film to be exist, there is nothing wrong with it. This version totally respects dr.seuss book. People said so negative to this version, they just don't like it.
Mr.Coat have you ever heard of the wubbulous world of dr Seuss? It’s a show made by the Jim Henson company that’s based of Seuss’ works and it ran for two seasons.
Mr. Coat both seasons of the show are completely different, season 1 played out like an anthology series and featured stories focusing on different characters such as horton the elephant, yertle the turtle, the grinch and many more while season 2 played out more like a preschool show, the second season had a similar format to bear in the big blue house.
❄️ I love Dr. Seuss' The Grinch! I first saw it in theaters and fell in love with it and it became my all time favorite Christmas film and it's the most respectful Dr. Seuss film adaptation I've ever seen I grew up with both book and the cartoon short It's so sad that this film got mixed reviews (while I except others' opinion) I'm glad that there are people who love it It's a great, beautiful, funny, emotional and relatable film Happy 1st Anniversary for the film and Happy Holidays!❄️
I actually think that an animated adaptation of sussical would be a great idea. A childrens book is only a few pages long, but a stage musical is a two act experince that may have a lot more potential going for it.
I wanna see him make a look back at that series myself. That's seriously one of my favorite shows of 2019. My dad and I are almost at the end and he loves it.
I greatly enjoyed "Green Eggs and Ham", especially the hand-drawn animation, the character development with Guy-Am-I, the voice acting, the music and the way they incorporated the elements from the book into each episode.
I agree that the IDEAS you mentioned are in the film, but I would say the idea of the Grinch's introversion and his motive for wanting to get rid of Christmas in this version are not really "explored" so much as they are briefly alluded to and lightly tapped on. And maybe I'm missing something, but the Grinch's actions at the end don't make sense to me in light of his stated motivations. In the TV special, he stops hating Christmas because he realizes that it "means a little bit more" than just materialism upon seeing how it still brings the Whos (Am I spelling that right? I don't know the right way to pluralize the name of the who species) together even when they don't have presents. In this version he apparently hates Christmas because of his painful memories of feeling left out during Christmas. If that's the case, shouldn't finding out that Christmas "means a little bit more" make him feel worse and thus make him feel even more inclined to dump the toys off Mount Crumpet? I don't understand why he still returns the toys after hearing the Whos (still not sure if I'm spelling that right) sing. Also if Cindy Lou Who wants a break for mom, couldn't she take a lot of the time she spends on other things - including trying to trap Santa Claus and give him the letter - and spend that time helping her mom out around the house instead? Do you think I'm missing something? I'm legitimately curious to hear your thoughts on what I've said. Right now it looks to me that there were indeed better ideas in here than most people give it credit for (and I'm glad to hear that Cellspex and I aren't the only ones who see those ideas), but the ideas weren't executed that well. The filmmakers seem to have simply dropped the ideas in and not written the characters in a way that logically follows from those ideas. Or to put it another way, the ideas imply things about the Grinch's and Cindy Lou Who's motives that don't match up with how the Grinch or Cindy Lou Who behave. But again if you have a counterargument to that I'm genuinely curious to hear it.
I think the Grinch assuming the Whos are more interested in the material parts of Christmas remains in this version, as shown when he mocks Cindy Lou Who for what he believes are "demands to Santa" and his surprise when she asks him (in Santa guise) to help her mother rather than for gifts. When the Grinch has his change of heart, him not dumping the things he stole is him doing the right thing. It's still a crime he committed, even if the Whos aren't too upset. The Grinch is still someone with morals. This is also shown earlier when he returns Fred the Reindeer to his family, even though he still desperately needed the animal to pull off his heist. Sure, dumping the Who's possessions would make him feel a little better, but only for a short while before he feels guilty.
I disagree with you I think I illumination the grinch A bland forgettable movie i’ll take the original Chuck Jones Grinch And the Jim Carrey grinch for my any holiday season

I really enjoy this movie as well when my family and i watch it at my sister's apartment!

Nice work, Mr. Coat.

I think this film is decent
I liked the movie
My Verdict - Not as good as the Jim Carrey Version, but better than 2012 Lorax.
I respect our opinion,
They judge the movie cus is ilumination and the previous adaptarion.
also did you like the netflix series green eggs and ham?.
