I like the Frostheart Phoenix because while I have no idea what I'm doing with it, neither does my opponent.
This is me on table top. It's always does SOMETHING but there's no saying what until it happens.

This was me for the first many hours of using phoenixes in multiplayer. I know it's good and useful, but I have no idea how! But get in there kid!
In the vs Norsca matchup, I love taking a unit of Sisters of Averlorn. They melt trolls extremely quickly and can defend relatively well against doggos

HE are so satisfying to watch, and they have a bunch of Tech-pieces that just feel more "fantastical* than many of the other factions' RoRs. Glad to see you bring them!
id still love to see all elite infantry have an extra 30% magic resist or even more instead of trying to balance magic. I think it would make the decision between bringing direct damage magic and buff magic a tougher decision too. it'll never happen tho
I think the coolest (albeit probably not gonna happen) introduction would be if you could spend Winds of magic on dispelling
but then what about units with magic missle or melee damage?
@@RanenJ this has been changed in tw3. I think what He means is now known as spell resist
I have been thinking that for years. Elite units just need magic armor. I would give all of them missile ressistance too. They should be only weak to arty and cav charges.

according to zerkowitch , swordmasters of Hoeth are the best heavy infantry unit in the game so far , subject to patching of course
Best at killing other infantry, yes. Arguably not the best overall though
@@silverhost9782 zerkowitch had them battle each heavy infantry unit untill the sowrdmasters were the only heavy infantry winner. so Id say it's the best heavy infantry unit vs other heavy infantry and infantry
They are quite good, but many variables go into what is truly the best! IE, immune to psychology, durability at all HP thresholds, match-ups, etc!
Yea, best is subjective. Absolutely nothing does as well as them in clean fair infantry engagements. They are undoubtedly very strong.
@@turinRTS ofcourse other factors paly into it. When aligned swordmasters did best of heavy infantry in a controled eviroment with no debuffs etc th-cam.com/video/sIqbke49DXA/w-d-xo.html this is probably out of date by now

I know you're not the biggest H.E. fan, but I think you really get what makes them cool - it's not the bows and magic, it's elite infantry and heavy cav. Question: How do you think the build would've held up if Yumi had brought any of the big vortex spells? Searing Doom took its toll over time, but seemed a lot more manageable.
Hey Turin! Long time watcher/lurker on streams! You and Legendoftotalwar are the reason I even got into total war, and even with 2600 hours of playtime I've yet to even touch multiplayer.
On that note, have you considered making videos on the subject of beginners to multiplayer? Something like armies for people who are bad at micro, or builds for generic use? It could make for good videos (knowing you) and there's a lot of content to cover with that!
Really cool high elf build and strat! Elite infantry are awesome and its cool to see them do well.
My head canon is that this build was inspired by my own featured on dahv's channel recently.

Looking at those silverin guard getting surrounded, I feel when a unit is guarding an objective it should be bracing in a deeper formation to gain the mass bonus. It might help reducing some of the enemy charge.
Frostheart phoenix is basically just like having an Articuno in your army.

15:50 you can use the bolt throwers vs armor they are really solid armor piercing vs infantry and even monsters with the single target option
Try fire caster with the flaming sword spell, can cast it anywhere in the battle to make any of your units win their engagement. Makes the norsca matchup so free. Don’t even need elite troops. Get some lions with their good phys and missile resist they ignore horse skirmish and troll punch while being affordable, fast, AP, and good in every stat
Daddy Turin spoiling us with these high level 1v1's off meta builds. Love the diversity in WHIII MP rn!
The frostheart bird is finally good, after so many years of suffering. The changes to the ward save, getting frostbite and looks like some MA (I distinctly recall 35 MA, lower than even an Eagle), have given the blue bird a place. Now if only they can make the blue (moon) dragon slightly more cost effective, but Im not sure I want HE to be a monster faction. I like where they stand right now

I love elite armies but they never end well for me. Getting shot to pieces or mortised down. But god I love to see it
Nice to see an elite army work. I like the frostheart aswell. It's worth it most of the time. To me the real mvp's of the high elves are the lothern seaguard, Never a waste. Just so hard to get rid of effectively. The only good way to deal with them is somehow getting infantry on top of them.

Great bat rep. That HE army felt very HE if you know what I mean. All it was missing is one bolt throwers, IMHO. (For theme, not for better performance.)

Where do you think the High Elves are at overall, like in terms of a tierlist? I remember in warhammer 2 that they were more in the middle of the pack
Funny that the Frostheart Phoenix is an off meta choice when in Warhammer Fantasy Tabletop it is the most OP shit out there
what would you say is more cost effective: reavers or skeleton horsemen?
Frost Phoenixs are really more Land Battle than Domination: in Dom, I'd rather bring the Omen, since it makes more of a difference in the few blob fights that happen.

I haven't watched yet but as the only norsca main in the world im going to be really mad if this guys gets away with using 3 trolls vs a faction that can shoot.

Can someone explain why in competitive we see such small, low tier armies? I want to see 20 stacks of elite late game armies going at it. Why is this what everyone wants to see?
Unit diversity, which increases the role of strategy (knowing matchups, technical picks).
Low tier / chaff infantry having a role (soaking up charges, ammo, capture weight) means people don't just spam the same elite stuff like campaign doomstacks
I don't super understand the rest of your question - gold caps? Turin did a high-goldcap tournament once a while back, was cool but there's a sweet spot for diversity vs having too much gold
@Neth I just think it would be more fun seeing high tech Backorcs going at it with Swordmasters with other high tier support than goblin spears and basic spearmen
Lizardmen need buff like high elves, I never see anyone picking lizard in online battle
but after undead nerf high elves is too good now, hard to beat them with factions have no artillery
silverin and sea guard spam win every battle while sea guard don’t even have armor piercing
And they just use one phoenix to ruin your army and wait for dragon prince summon

@@TypowyKubini their units are fine, but theyre very one note. they dont have the amount of options that all the other factions have. plus their campaign is a little dated. They need a DLC and theyll be perfect. One vs Kislev would be cool to see.
