tip for dumb quarbit: other finished plans for the 3 factions in the remnant disaster give small bonuses (like the expansionist side plan gives you 24 yearly tax income and some colonial bonuses) if you dont go with their main plans, i myself tend to go internal reclamationist plan with expansionist side hustle cuz the reclamationists give 1 free hold level. however i see no reason to go with the citrine/diamond/amber/[insert dwarven culture name here] guard's plan over the other ones. Addendum: i think you expanded too fast in the start, burning your manpower with strong natives, thats why you coudnt beat the rebels as well. With better mil tech though the natives go from equally strong armies to vanilla eu4 natives - annoying at worst. Funny: if you send mercenary regiments as manpower in expeditions, and revert the decision, they suddenly become normal regiments!
“Serpentspine diamonds” is an event that drops the price of gems by HALF globally. It’s a bad event for all dwarves that get a ton of gem provinces. If you read the lore, you are essentially creating artificial scarcity of diamonds outside your holds by refusing to sell any gems except a pre-set amount. You are literally pulling a DeBeers.
Fun little fact. You can actually send manpower from a merc company to an expedition. When they return they’re added to your manpower or are regular infantry units. It makes it so expeditions are no longer a drain to your manpower but increase it.
Gnolls has the demonic crack-selling pirate republic of Mykx. Elves have Chaddar. The tigermen have the very complex Raj, but personally I think the country that starts as the vizier of the Raj is fun as hell. Halflings have New Shire, where they turns to druidism and accidentally create an army of ents. Each race has some wild content is what I'm saying.
Look, once he gets to the hobgobbos he's either going to have to play The Command, AKA one of like 2 tags which is *specialized* for world conquest in the game (along with Jadd the Chad) or install the Northern Hobgoblin Submod for content, both of which would be amazing.
Your anbennar phase has kickstarted my own anbennar phase and now my sleep schedule is wrecked because i stayed up until like 3 am stackwiping everyone with my gnomish space marines, so thanks for that
It’s so good! If you haven’t already, you should try the “Dwarven Knowledge” mod, it adds a bunch of new stuff to dwarves for runes, metallurgy, and research.
There's a criminal lack of people doing Anbennar playthroughs who actually take time to think about the lore of the setting, and I've just subbed to you because of your stuff. I have basically no interest in watching Vanilla EU4 (I find Vicky 3 playthroughs more entertaining), but I can't get enough of weird magical mapgame. Keep it up!
the dwarves are actually unfinished, there is still the semi final and final nation state, so for instance a united north dwarovar and then entire aul-dwaroval which is going to have a crusader kings style dynasty/clan/parliament system, no idea when it actually gets made but the explanation is on the discord and in excel files Also dwarves ruled ALL serpentspine and had enough advanced technology to fight a defensive war against a defensive war against a stellaris style space capable race, the precursor elves. So yeah, they were pretty advanced.
Tip for anyone else playing as a remnant hold: If you only ever support a single awakening faction, you'll only have to deal with the beholden once. If you "eh, why not?" and give any other faction any readiness, you'll have to fight the beholden more times. If you don't want more secondary buffs, then focus only on the one faction you're looking for. If you *do* want buffs from the other factions, they have to also be fully ready.
To add to your points, focusing on one faction gives you great bonuses on their aspect, while focusing on two or all give you the watered down versions of each of them.
Just FYI, infrastructure is a really good idea set for dwarves because the increased build speed affects digging, and digging holds faster = good. Innovative first I also usually do as dwarves though, it's just really good for them as a first pick.
Why inno first? I’m playing annbenar for my first time as the isolated dwarves all the way north, and opened explo-> defensive, planning to drop explo for inno after the first mission group disaster ends. How do you deal with minorities? The pop ups are super annoying, so I purged the goblins, but now I’ve got orcs and trolls too. Do you change which you’re purging or dedicate diplomats to purge more?
I've reached the point where "normal" anbennar dwarf are not enough and i'm thinking about adding the dwarven monument mod and try the amldihr mission tree mod. Basically my anbennar is not enough so i want to put more anbennar into it.

@@KingoftheWelsh a sort of running gag on this channel to put it in a concise way. Tho I think it might have come up mostly or even exclusively in streams now that I think about it.
I'm loving the Anbennar phase for this channel. The Hoardcurse is a very fun disaster to deal with. I hope you enjoy it in part 2. Diamonds are unbreakable after all
I had my own Arg Ordstun run recently and it went about as well as yours... until the disasters. The Hoardcurse, the Obsidians and the secret mysterious third one all messed with me to no end.
A trick i can give you for hoardcurse is when you start at the same tick gove away every monopoly and remove merchants for less icon meaning less of an impact on the economy, also take loans and focus on the banks first so you don't get inflation then you easily get rid of the curse within the time limit
couple notes on the beggining disaster: every faction can give you an extra bonus on top of the one you pick, but you need to get them to full readiness (and it's rarely worth it given you'll lose time and have to deal with more beholden) the reclaimers are usually the best choice to focus on, they give you a free hold level
If you are still going to play each race I recommend Goldscale for Kobolds, very fun MT and insanely stupid attrition stacking, I was able to take down the #1 GP by like 500 dev more than me by just attritioning their army to death
So a general tip for new players wanting to know which country has the most fleshed out mission tree: if you go into the mission folder in the mod folder, you'll see a file for every mission tree in the mod. If you sort by file size then you'll get a decent idea of which countries have the longest mission trees by looking at how large the file sizes are. This also works for any other mod as well as for the base game.
Also thanks for the subscription reminder at the end, I watch you so much (and follow you on Twitter) that I was completely convinced that I was already subbed but apparently the TH-cam algorithm has just been doing its job exceptionally well.
So for a bit of lore about that one mission with Tellum: they're one city in the Empire that specializes in town criers. Having +100 relation and sending them a gift is basically an Anbennar equivalent of paying major media company for announcement
When you play in the serpentspine again you need to keep in mind terrain bonuses. This becomes FAR easier when your army is sitting on the colonized tile and taking defensive +2's.
@@onespiker Nah. Monuments give another great layer of identity to each hold IMO. Also, Very Hard Anbennar (especially with Xorme) goes hard. Command often grows to field 2-5M man in the early 1600s. If you want a challenge turn up the difficulty. AI has an easier time snowballing and more space to do it in compared to vanilla.
For an even better Dwarf experience , i suggest installing the Dwarfen Knowledge Mod ..... it makes the expeditions more interesting and you can use dwarfen knowledge for really cool stuff
I would love a long series like this! I want to watch your livestreams but they are lengthy that it's hard to find time to watch them. This seems like an amazing way to get more anbenar in a more manageable time frame!
I love playing anbennar dwarves (tried all of them) so this is a treat. This probably isn't very exciting to watch for non-serpentspine-addicts though tbh. Sadly. Edit: hopefully some people get curious about the very different play style.
I once played a game as the Imperial gnomes and united my home region and dev'd every province to 45 and expanded... Only then did I go and conquer the provinces to form the gnomish hierarchy. As dessert.
You should definitely try Nortiochand when their mission tree eventually releases, they're like the Black Demesne but with gnomes that do evil artificery in the new world
Ahhh, seeing your struggles with the remnant mechanic brings back some memories. You always want the reclaimers because they give you a free level 2 hold and you never have enough manpower to fully use the expansionists. NOTE: the more fully planned out factions you have, the more buffs you get.
So not to spoil things *too* much, because I'm a filthy Dwarf Enjoyer (my first playthrough was Ovdal Lodhum, second went into Escann as Corintar, then I went back as Amhldr refounded by adventurers), but *to my knowledge* there are 3 big 'dwarven disasters' outside the Godwake: The Hoardcurse, which you're starting to edge up on, and is basically 'so I heard you like Loans' the disaster, and two Whole-Serpentspine ones, Serpent's Rot, which is caused by digging into a strange cave at random iirc, and is just agonizing devastation and stability hits, along with *I think* dev hits until you randomly get the cure unlocked, and the Obsidian Legion, which I believe *any dwarf* can spawn, which creates an invader army and causes a disaster for the one who cracked it open, though I don't know if it's locked to the Player country if they're in the serpentspine, and you *can* avoid it, though I won't spoil how. I will also note that the Assembly of Holds is actually *really important* for Dwarfs late-game, since holds start adding base local autonomy after I think rank 3 at 5 per, up to 30 local autonomy at max hold rank, meaning you *need* that reform in order to get the most out of your holds, the hearts of your power, moving into mid-game. Also worth noting that most Dwarven nations that I've seen the MTs for don't really focus on reclaiming Aul Dwarov, the super-formable for dorfs in the mountain, mostly because usually by the time you can start thinking about forming it, you need to murder the command and their puppets for holds in addition to the Jade Gemstone for the crown, which you *also* need to form Aul Dwarov. I'd also really recommend getting GUIbennar, it's a mod that tweaks the province layout so that you can see all the minorities of a province, and their tolerance levels, without cluttering up the modifiers list on a province, and it has a button for holds that can show you a lot of information. Current Hold Level and effects, all *future* hold levels and *their* effects, as well as the maximum hold level for that given hold (iirc it can range from 7 in Gor Burad because Active Volcano to 10 in most holds, then 11 for the big super-hold capitol Almdr), as well as letting you dig from that interface.
i think there is atleast a fourth disaster that can happen. a goblintide or something. basically all over the nation goblin rebels start pop up until you have beaten them all. but i dont know if that still exists and what causes it
@@huntre111 very different thing. That's just a modifer. The goblin disaster was a thing in the past atleast but I think they deactivated it for a while now.

It matters if you appease all three factions during the awakening, you can get 1 primary bonus and two secondary. you were very close to having all three appeased. its rarely worth it to rush as there's not much to do in the early game other than waiting for points to dev
Gnomes next, but I would recommend Reveria; human administration but it still counts. You can swap to gnomish mil, and you get artificers and lots of gnome stuff in the MT
Just so you know, Natives in the serpentspine are vicious. Don't bother fighting them until tech 4, and you'll still loose a lot of manpower to them until tech 6. Ferocity on them gives them a lot of tactics, and being at 9k of them means you can hardly even outnumber them. And, Danger Level doesn't matter, ignore it. Length is what kills expeditions.
I'm in the midst of playing a dwarf campaign and making beautiful holds give benefits by sometimes firing events that give you like 260ish crowns, prestige and something else.

oh, i didnt know arg-ordstun had an mt, i thought they were still in dev. Love to see people playing anbennar, its such a good mod. I recommend you play in the ynn region next, vels fadhacai would make a good narrative for a video
The reason the Basalt dwarves mission said it was empty was because in their mission tree there's a mission where all the dev of the hold get transfered to the rest of the country and the hold fills with lava so everyone abandons it.
I know you've played the harpies recently-ish, but you should try Varamhar (directly south of the harpies) you literally get to create a god-emperor iirc. But it's a pretty involved process with hidden bonus requirements to missions
Hordecurse is expensive but not awful, the obsidian legion is ass cause they take your best provinces and you still have to get 100% warscore or else they stay there
@@bshorrar You should have never gotten to that point in the first place. When I say "don't let them out" I wasn't being coy. Simply do not set them free by digging through the Strange Calcite Layer and nothing will ever come of it.
@@bshorrar the event that causes them to arrive is avoidable. The x layer with a warning sign, that doesn't give you dig speed. Refuse to dig there and you will be alright.
Hordecurse is a lot worse for unprepared players than for prepared ones. Obsidian legion is quite easily defeated especially if you take military ideas.
I'm here to say that, if you do continue and do every race, I request you play Balrijin for the Kobold nation. They are my favorite nation in the mod, despite how they're in a... less than ideal starting situation
The trick of playing dwarves in Anbennar Eu4 is ... to not play them yourself let your favorite TH-camr play them for you so you don't have to deal with all the mid-game hassle :) thank you
You know, the Lore and reactions from the other dwarves do kind of make me wonder if the Diamond Dwarves aren't quite all they imagine themselves to be. Usually you have to do 'something' to keep having everyone work against you. Still, from the point of view of the Diamond Dwarves they seem to be well intentioned... to an extent. Aside of just idly conquering others over a marriage refusal, or because they want to control all the serpentreach, artificial scarcity of gems to increase prices and other such things...
Damn the Ruby Hold!!!! They Stabbed all of the Aul Dwarov in the back!!! Those damn dirty Khromium Dwarfs those fools chose to abandon us for a Shiny Ruby from that sham of a hold!!!!

Quick tip for digging holds, you can use the Aid Constructions spell from the Mage's Estate for up to 30% Construction Cost and Speed bonuses (bonii?)
I am so hyped to see you have fun with the hoardcurse!
QUARBIT RELEASE A PART TWO AND MY LIFE IS YOURS
its time to start the anbennar a-z series.
not the worst idea in theory, but I know I'd die before I get to finish it
We need a second part if not for the mission tree then for the disasters. What are anbennar dwarves in the serpentspine if not a disaster simulator
Here for part 2, loving the Anbennar phase!
Gnomes next, but I would recommend Reveria; human administration but it still counts. You can swap to gnomish mil, and you get artificers and lots of gnome stuff in the MT
Lol should have used the submod that gives you every single dwarven mission tree. Yes, it is as insane as it sounds and it's wonderful.
Make the second part AND play gnomes!!! Anbennar is pure mod gold, delightful to watch AND it hasn't a lot of other channels covering it
I emjoyed this, soothing and interesting - I'd be interested in a part 2
I'd love to see continuation of the playthrough to see how you try to survive Hoardcurse and Serpent's Rot!
I'm in the midst of playing a dwarf campaign and making beautiful holds give benefits by sometimes firing events that give you like 260ish crowns, prestige and something else.
löve this möd! I even böught EU4 because öf this möd. My first playthröugh was as öne öf the dwarven explörers up nörtheast. Explöred and migrated tö the ancient dwarven capitöl, where I settled. Förmed that kingdöm and eventually settled and cönquered every single prövince öf the serpentspine. Restöred the cröwn, förmed the empire. And vassalized the dwarves öutside öf the möuntain, för there öwn gööd öfc. 150 höurs playthröugh (exactly)! and I löved every minute öf it. I deffö want tö see a full campaign öf this where yöu restöre the entire empire. Subbed in anticipatiön =)
oh, i didnt know arg-ordstun had an mt, i thought they were still in dev.
Love to see people playing anbennar, its such a good mod.
I recommend you play in the ynn region next, vels fadhacai would make a good narrative for a video
This ain't even the wildest thing the dwarves can do! For that, you need to play the Wine Dwarves!
The reason the Basalt dwarves mission said it was empty was because in their mission tree there's a mission where all the dev of the hold get transfered to the rest of the country and the hold fills with lava so everyone abandons it.
Man, I remember last time I played Anbennar, I played Black Demense. Was so fun.
Gor Burad is a great dwarf tag as well!
Very hard tho but unique. Or Hul Az Krakazol in the east if you'd like
Love the video!
Hope my long ass twitter suggestions were of help in deciding. Diamond dwarves are an amazing first choice 🙂
I know you've played the harpies recently-ish, but you should try Varamhar (directly south of the harpies) you literally get to create a god-emperor iirc. But it's a pretty involved process with hidden bonus requirements to missions
I played these dwarves, they're pretty fun, also love watching more Aebennar!
Hordecurse is expensive but not awful, the obsidian legion is ass cause they take your best provinces and you still have to get 100% warscore or else they stay there
Obsidian Legion is 100% avoidable, just don't let them out.
@@AlienFromBeyond how? The investigate rumors takes too long and only lets you do one at a time.
The best dwarves are the company of Duran blue shield
Nice video dude!
Arg-Ordstun is an amazing mission tree...I loved every second of playing it, and I'm sure you will too! Some real goofy shit happens later on!
In my experience rushing the Expansionists and the Reclaimers is the way to go for Remnant Holds
I'm so thirsty for all anbennar runs to finish. Goblins, Ogres, Gnolls, etc
Cant stop before the pain of repeated dwarf disasters. Go in blind for maximum torment.
a fun the dwarf disaster will be fun to watch but will be pain if you dont deal with it properly
I'd love to see more of this!
I'm here to say that, if you do continue and do every race, I request you play Balrijin for the Kobold nation. They are my favorite nation in the mod, despite how they're in a... less than ideal starting
situation
mmm dwarfs, yes. I like the brewer's hold near command, and the goblins with the lich.
This is a certified Serpantspine classic
Would love to see you try out the Escann region! The mechanics are so cool and there's so many different formables.
Fully getting the other dwarven factions ready at the start gives insane permanent bonuses, a shame you did not do that.
sometimes you just have to guess at how mechanics work ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The trick of playing dwarves in Anbennar Eu4 is ... to not play them yourself
let your favorite TH-camr play them for you so you don't have to deal with all the mid-game hassle
:) thank you
I love playing the dwarves and the crisis events are hard. Endgame reforming the empire requires you to fight the command
Its worth mentioning that i have never given the party any shre and it has always worked out for me
You know, the Lore and reactions from the other dwarves do kind of make me wonder if the Diamond Dwarves aren't quite all they imagine themselves to be.
Copper dwarfs are fun. They are all about cannon.
However they have the obsidian legion.
I'd love to see you complete this playtrough
The Gnomes would be a great time as well I'm sure!
Love the anbennar videos!
I would love to finally see somebody else suffering through the hoardcurse instead of suffering it myself.
*eagerly waits his struggle with some of the dwarven disasters*
The Dwarves WISH it was only millions of orcs and not hundreds of millions to billions.
Always a pleasure to see Dwarves.
Dude i NEED a part two!
We need more! For Rock and Stone
Need a part 2 if only to see that insane disaster fire once you get to 150 income/month
Arg-Ôrdstun was the first nation I ever played in Anbennar. It didn't go too well, because I'm not very good at EU4.
Don't worry quarb, you can get out of hoardcurse for the low low price of 50 trillion crowns. It'll be fine.
Gonna be fun when he has to fight the command for the last crown jewel
Yooooo. More Anbennar! I love the dwarves!
I mean if you want to showcase the dwarves you kinda have to play at least until the disasters right?
