I had my car on a workshop today, they told me to change the front lower arm right side + lower back right side. Are those two the on you did? Or is the back one on my back wheels? 1999 passat 3b estate
@attofarad32 In the torque tables we do remind viewers to reaplcxe nuts and bolts if required by Audi in factory repair information. Thanks for the feedback.
good afternoon to all and on the pneumatic Audi A6 /S6 sedan III 3.2 FSI quattro how to adjust the angles of the upper levers.what is the distance to throw off the pliz diagram Height for the front lever … Height for rear lever …
I just took a look under my A6 and it looks like there's very little space for the bolt that holds the rear lower arm, especially on the passenger side. Are you sure the subframe does not need to be lowered?
You should be able to wiggle the bolt out once you remove the nut on the other side. There should be some “give” from the plastic bit that seems to be in the way of the bolt coming out. I never considered lowering the subframe.
I had a front control arm set (8) with links (2) and tie rod ends (2) outer installed in 2008, now with only 30,000 links went bad and lower control arms are bad. Is this normal wear?
Anyone know the nut size/type for rear lower control arm where it joins the wheels hub? The end that has the bolt already fitted to it where it meets the wheel? :) Also is that bolt replaceable?
Sadly as informative as this is they dont show WHAT TO USE FOR THE FRONT LOWER BALL JOINT REMOVAL! STANDARD REMOVAL TOOLS (PICKLE FORK, TIE ROD WEDGE WHATEVER NAME YOU KNOW THEM BY) WILL NOT WORK!!!! EITHER FABRICATE A SHORT PRONG SHARP INCLINE FORK (ABOUT 15/16) OR BUY A SPECIALTY TOOL WARNING MY EXPERIENCE WITH SAID SPECIALTY BALL JOINT PRESS DID NOT WORK THANKFULLY FAMILY HAD ACCESS TO SHOP. WARNING WARNING WARNING!!!!!!!!
nerd made from the 80s you are correct i have an allroad and they completely glossed over the fact that that is the hardest thing to remove on the car!!!
probably should have said this in the beginning but im actually a former a.s.e. cert mechanic. when performing this repair please bear in mind that i had 0 corrosion. i literally had to use an air hammer to get the ball joint to pop out. if you didn't have to great good for you doesnt change the fact that it didn't work for me. this is just simply my 2 cents and a helpful warning this video lacked.
lower arm needed replacement thanks great video help me so much it was klunking on brakes fixed now
handy vid , others forget to pre load the suspension , then bonded joints wear very quickly.
@mie2222 There is a tool that will separate the ball joint if you plan to reuse it. Check your Bentley repair manual for the tool number.
nice, all How-To video needs to look like this. very professional and informative.
Thanks this video really helped just got done doing mine!
Great job...thank you very much for the video ...keep the good work....
if dont have a ball joint separating tool you can hit the spindle with a hammer on the side to loosen them
