    I see you have the vacuum going. But alot of dust was shooting along the table top. From what I have seen on these, looks like most of the dust is on the table top and getting pushed along instead of getting sucked up. Is that really the case? Would be nice to know how much dust is on the top vs what actually got sucked up. I saw this because I have a dust collection system, not hooked up and do not have pvc runs going from tool to tool yet. But if the dust collection basically sucks on this table the I would not waste time running extra pvc and ground that additional pvc just to not pick up much.

    • @code3imagination441
      @code3imagination441  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I use this a lot. There is two dust collection points. From what I have found it you can hook up to both at the same time the dust is kept to a minimum.

      @@code3imagination441 Understood. Thanks. I have not tried the dust collection at all with my Bosch MRC23EVKS. I have only been using it freehand and only twice for something quick and short. I have the Bosch straight edge accessory that has a dust port too that I think may work alot better when using the router freehand. We shall see. Thanks for the video.

    just got the same one for the wife...neither one of us ever worked w/ a router...now it's easy. All the contractors we talked to said just get a handheld one...I respectfully disagree now...I'll take the bench table w/ the shop vac hose every time!

    I just got one Bosch router table RA1171 also with a lot of router bits included and its used but I had a good deal . Im happy with the performance and been doing some practicing on various routing ideas. Oh by the way it has also a Dewalt DW618 PK ( a fix base and plunge router combo) inluded, $150 bucks. I didnt complain at all.

      Harold Rull awesome. I need to get a new router. My depth adjustment froze up on me. I would recommend that you clean out your router frequently so this does not happen. I did try to take it apart to try to clean it out but unfortunately was not able to free the adjustment mechanism.

    Just bought this because of this video. Quick ?, I noticed you used the round over bit freehand at the end. Would I be able to continuously route around the entire outer edge of a cutting board? Say cedar. I guess my question is there a problem with switching from the long grain to the end grain in one pass or multiple shallow passes? Thanks

    • @code3imagination441
      @code3imagination441  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have used mine to round over cutting boards also. With some of the harder woods I took several passes to get my desired finished look. I would recommend practice on a scrap piece and see what it does.

      Freeman Grace I had the vacuumed attached to the cabinet. You can attached a vac behind the fence. The only thing I would have liked to see, and would have paid more for it, is an adjustable height setting on the top of the table so you don’t have to keep adjusting the bit height on the router it’s self. Other products off that feature

    • @code3imagination441
      @code3imagination441  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      wrecked4life unfortunately you have to adjust it from the bottom. A slight inconvenience but for what I use it for it doesn’t bother me. I know Steve Ramsey has a good video on making a table with adjuster on the top.

      Code 3 Imagination thank you, I don't really need it that bad either.. I'm just fine going under the cabinet to adjust the height.

    • @robertknowles3677
      @robertknowles3677 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@coastalcreekwoodworks8795 If you get the Bosch router MRC23EVKS you can adjust it from the top using this exact router cabinet. I have the model I just mentioned and wanted to put the router into a workbench I am making that will also house my table saw. I was going to buy a plate and fence etc and when I saw how much it costs to buy the individual pieces I said I might as well buy this bosch table and drop it into the custom workbench I am building. I am not sure how many of the other Bosch routers may allow for you to adjust from the top using the plate that comes with this router table.

      Check page 16 of the manual (www.boschtools.com/us/en/ocsmedia/r00287v1.pdf#page=16) Over-table height adjustment is available for the Bosch 1617 series and several others. For the Porter Cable 892 and 895 and the Milwaukee
      5615 and 5616, some additional modifications need to be made.

    Just be careful-lots of sharp edges and the table top is prone to chipping-would go with a phenolic or cast iron top for longevity next time.

    • @code3imagination441
      @code3imagination441  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hiaruga I agree a metal table would a better choice but for how often I use it couldn’t beat the price and portability.

    • @sly9263
      @sly9263 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A cast iron or phenolic top is only beneficial for someone who uses their router table often. I don't think your average woodworker puts a router to frequent use. I'll spend $500-1,000 on something that I'll get mileage out of... not a router table I'll use a few times a year.

    Thanks brother for the info and the heads up. Even with its limitations, it will probably suit my small piece needs. Also, I may not be seeing it as it actually is from here, but the metal plate 'appears' to be slightly recessed below the table surface. If this is true, how does one run pieces through the bit that are shorter than the length of the plate? I want to router short stuff. Is this a problem for you? Also, concerning the nonadjustable table height issue, here is one solution, but it requires spending more money. Thanks again.....see video attached. m.th-cam.com/video/hOkrotvpPDA/w-d-xo.html
