AFFILIATE LINK DISCLOSURE: Friends, making a quality Loloho video is kind of like making sausage - only slightly more violent. It's a ridiculous amount of work that typically involves high dollar camera drops, blue-screen-of-death computer crashes, and at least one angry shotgun wielding old man shouting, “Hey! Get the hell outta here!” Once the final video is posted, rewards here on TH-cam are few and far between (unless you are a masochist who enjoys being verbally abused by anonymous trolls). One saving grace is our affiliate links. JUST CLICKING THESE LINKS HELPS TO SUPPORT OUR LITTLE SHOW. Think of this clicking as like tipping - except that it doesn't cost you anything extra! If you eventually make a purchase via one of our affiliate links, we will receive a few pennies (and Sean typically invests these pennies in duct tape and video gear). Again, it doesn't cost you anything to click these links, and it's a great help to us. As always, safe travels, happy camping, and THANK YOU!

Glad you are having a great experience. I am on my third Traeger Scout and the temperature control is +/- 75 degrees from the set point. Sometimes it will exceed +100 before turning around.

I have owned Traeger grills for 10 years. I purchased the Tailgater for camping. I took the legs completely off. By doing that, it fits under the tonneau. When I want to use it, I either put it on the picnic table at the campground, use it on the tailgate, or put the legs on (if I am going to be at a campsite for a long time).

I have the first model put out by traegar and it's still going strong. Pecan pellets are my favorite, but cherry is a close second. You can smoke and cook meat like a pro. I would love to have that small portable one for camping. I have perfected briskets and pork shoulders.

Hey, can’t do the grill too big for my van. I just wanted to thank you so much for your videos about Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons. I entered the parks the day they opened and spent 5 days driving in and out of Jackson and Cody to see what I could during their restricted opening. Your advice about the blanket then the sheet was a lifesaver. I camped in NF outsides both parks and was very warm. Love you two!

Great grills. I'm on my second one, the Timberline 1300. Tip for searing meat: I use a product called Grillgrate that can be purchased for your particular grill. The Grillgrate gives great quality searing and grill marks. Love love these grills.

Bigger fan of Green Mountain WiFi Davy Crockett. It uses variable fan speed as an additional control variable (+/- 3-5 degrees) and runs profiles off my phone, sends notifications, etc. Profiles run off meat temp, smoker temp, and/or time inputs.

Sean, I had to chuckle when I saw the title. My brother has had a Traeger for a few decades and is on his second. I saw a guy at Costco on one of their special events, he asked me if I wanted him to tell me about them.... and I told him that my brother is a member of the Traeger cult. He just laughed! But honestly, they are a great product.

Watch your temps. I bought a Scout at Costco during one of Traeger's road shows to take with us camping. I had the temp set at 195 while smoking some ribs and it would climb to welll over 450 degrees and shut off. I took it back and got a replacement. I had the same issue with the replacement. I called Traeger and they said yeah it's a none issue with the portable grills. Too bad because the few times it did work, it was great. I returned the second one as well. I have a Memphis pellet grill at home and I love it. Nothing like getting that smoked flavor.

We love our Traeger. Best investment we've made although our's is too big for the RV. We've cooked beef, pork, chicken, turkey, fish especially salmon, scalloped potatoes, baked potatoes, soups, and even a cake a couple of times. Everything turns out perfect.
But here's one we heard about last weekend so we had to give it a try... Smoked Cheetos cheese puffs. I know, it sounds crazy but is incredible and very addictive. Just put them on a shallow tray or cookie sheet and smoke at about 195 for 30 minutes. You will definitely be impressed.
Also, the Grill Grates mentioned above are an absolute must have. They are versatile and improve the flavor of steaks and burgers. Without doubt, the best burgers I've ever had.

I just bought the wheeled version today the Tailgater, as I need more grill space for tailgating. The legs were not that difficult to fold up and put down plus if you load it wheels first it will roll. I have a shell on my F150 so I have the room. May never use the small gas grill that came w my Jayco again! Thanks for the demo, made my decision much easier. I bought at an Ace Hardware in Mt Washington Ky which is also a repair center. Thanks, not full timers yet, but will be come Feb 2023. We have owned three treagers and are down to two now, we have the Ironwood and the tailgater. Wondering if we should get the Ranger, would it be easier to travel with? We find the wheel fold up to be a bit of a hassle. We will be just the two of us, and a set up very similar to yours, ;purchasing an airstream this winter) although we may put a cab on the back of our truck? One thing for sure, we can’t live without our treager, we use it for everything!! (We also use it for baking) thanks for all of the great information you put out there! Have really learned a lot from your videos😊

A bit of power consumption data on my Trager Ranger: It pulls 240W at start up. It stays in that mode for maybe 10 to 15 minutes. Eventually it drops back to 23 to 43W ( it alternates between the two ). My *guess* is that the 20W difference is the auger running to feed pellets. At reasonable temperatures, the running power should average around 30W or so.

We have had one for about 3 Years and we make pizza as much as ever thing else combined. I like to smoke the pizza for about 15 min before turning up the heat to cook it. 😉

Green mountain grill has a 12v version and you can fit two racks of ribs on it. Also heavy.

12 volt is nice. 120 volt is also nice. Any power inverter that produces about 400W will run an 120 volt Traeger as well. Being that our Traeger Ranger has limited grill space, we have a rack that fits about 4 racks of ribs vertically instead of flat on the grill. Don't forget a holder for your jalapeño poppers. Happy grilling.

Have you ever had a problem with excess smoke in a campground? My smoker tends to put off a lot of smoke...I use a Green Mountain Grill, Daniel Boone. I am considering getting the smaller travel version, but I am worried about offending neighbors.

You should review the GMG Davey Crockett. It has wifi, legs that fold easy into handles and side tray. Also it can utilize 12v power. So for us rvers it is quite convenient.

You didn’t answer my biggest questions: is ranger easy to clean? Does it stink when not in use? Do you think traveling with it in cab is possible? Great vid otherwise. I especially like your stunt double.

Bought the Ranger about 2 months ago. Basically like the grill, but was having temperature swings of 40 to 60 F. Not sure if that was normal or had a bad controller. Returned it because I could not speak to a technical savvy Customer Service person. Customer Service is poor for the Ranger Grill.

I have 1 of the USA models and it’s a glorified oven not much of a smoker. But it is easy to just set it and forget it.

I saw these a year ago or so and thought this would be an easy choice until you mentioned the weight. As long as you don't have to set it on the ground I guess it would be all right. A lot of the grills mentioned in the comments are either out of stock/not in production anymore or just too big. I miss those $12 hibachi grills from my youth. They were junky but they did the job and if it broke it would cost $12 to fix it. Plus the covers were even cheaper a garbage bag. Of course not so great if you had a beard and liked to get up close and personnel during light up.
