Ana demonstrated her power potential right from the start, when she first interviewed Christian for the college paper. She basically called him a liar over his saying that there were people who knew him well. She doubted that to be true and told him so straight out.
This trilogy is about the maturation of both protagonists, mostly in good ways; but Ana demonstrates the greatest growth while helping Christian overcome his childhood demons and trying to maintain a stable relationship.

My gut is telling me Dakota will have a good performance but Jamie won't be up to snuff.
That may be true, but Dakota had a much easier role to play than Jamie did.
Ana was more or less a normal young woman who had decided to hold on to her virginity for a while until she felt the time was right, but knew what she wanted in life.
Christian on the other hand was far from normal, with deep emotional scaring and psychological issues. Very few actors/actresses can handle that type of role well, maybe someone like a young Al Pacino. Jamie did OK in most respects. Could a different actor have done a better job? Perhaps, but again Christian with his many weird traits was not an easy character to portray.

I think you need to watch the entire series to understand the transformation of both characters. Anna goes from being a girl into a strong woman and Christian also grows into a man and a husband in the final movie.

They both did a grest job...but playing Grey has to be much more demanding, I mean is practically an unreachable ideal of manhood (without the mental instability). That's why I think he still didn't get the whole Grey persona, but imo the dialogues were not well connected to show how the characters evolve. Have great hopes for the second one!

Sam Taylor-Johnson did such an amazing job with the source material. The first movie was the best. Her art background really helped bring the characters to life. She was smart enough to focus on character development with just a few key scenes instead of the plot-driven corniness of Darker & Freed. Those two films are so corny and almost unwatchable.

I was really enjoying the movie until the end...I mean the ending was good, but I was looking for more and did not like the way it ended. If there is a sequel or series lined up, then I wish you all would go ahead and release. I hate that I invested my money on the DVD because of the way it ended. I was like REALLY!!! I liked the way Dakota's character changed everything around on him, but why did you leave us hanging in suspense like that not knowing what's next and how long before we get to see some MORE???!!!

Welp, if people don't go to the theaters and financially support the film, there may not be a 2nd or 3rd. I'd like to see it, but I live in a town full of bible thumpers that literally foam at the mouth with religious morale. They utterly despise the idea of the film. I work with them and I could get fired if I bump into a colleague coming out of the theater. They'll cloud their reasons under a different pretense to avoid discrimination or workers rights violations.
Yeah, I'm also wondering how it will do after the Holiday weekend. It seems like everyone who wanted to watch it already did and the rest think the whole topic is taboo, controversial or plain abuse. And many are just downloading it illegally.

I recently watched the movie it's terrible. Where's the chemistry on screen? Fatal Attraction is better than this movie I'm getting the book. This movie Fifty Shades of Fuck up (my opinion).

No but it can't be compared to fifty shades then. Because the core concept is fifty shades of a successful person i.e. it starts with a side of him that world doesn't know about (a sadist) and ends with a side of him that he himself doesn't know about (a human who was sexually abused in childhood but still values consent and respect, although not perfect still). Now there can be a interesting story about the two characters you mentioned but there are challenges to develop scenarios like 50 shades for eg. helicopter rides, affording sexual luxury etc.
Totally boring if you have watched 9,5 weeks with Rourke and Bassinger, which real passion, fire this movie tries to compeet but can`t

I have lost faith in the ladies of the world. For years I've been reading that women are in fact the smarter sex, yet women have fallen for the 50 shades marketing bullshit from day one. Women too afraid or prissy to actually watch an S and M porno think it's ok to read a very, very badly written book about it and then go and see a Hollywodd movie about it. Ladies, this movie was a waste of time. What ever chance it did have was ruined by the ego of the book's aurhor. The film's director knew damn well how badly the book was written, yet was hamstrung by the EL James. Now that this obvious ego maniac has decided to work on the sequel, the director (the only hope EL had at making a deccent movie) wants out, as does Dornan. Let's just let this literary monstrosity die shall we?
