Jc looks so Happy... Cool. I'm picturing a background potluck sorta thing... Mrs. Jc and family, wives, kids, neighbors cook along... Ofcourse I'm also picturing fans, mechanics, fabricators, etc. Parachuting into the driveway hoping for a chance to help... Sad part is I couldn't do it if I wanted to. But the thought made me smile. Be blessed, hsppy to hear Jeff doing well...
The pump is a midship pump. The transmission output goes to the pump transmission. There is either an electric or air shift. The pump transmission operates like a transfer case on a 4x4, except the rear drive shaft gets disconnected when in pump gear. After the pump shift is thrown, you put the transmission in drive. Most of the time on an Allison transmission the 4th gear lockup is used. If it is a 1250 pump (pumps are rated in 250 gpm increments) there will be 5-2 ½" outlets. There will also be 3 to 5 inlets on it too. Usually 2-6" and 3-2½". One of the inlets is called a tank to pump and is usually just a 2½". That will limit the output of the pump to about 400-500 gpm. Make sure that when the truck is driven, until the pump is removed, it stays firmly bolted to the frame. All the torque from the engine goes through the pump transmission.
Boardman a truck manufacturer Hale,Darley and Waterous are pump manufacturers for Fire trucks. The pump panel should tell you what the manufacturer of the pump is.
There seems to be a epidemic. Dump truck drivers seem to down right scarry You are a person. I think I know a solution. If you put a microswitch normally closed when the box is down . Once you lift the box the switch becomes open . Once open it sends a signal to the governor li.itiing the the speed to 10 miles a hour. ?. I have never worked on trucks. I hope you may be able to help, or know someone that may Regards Brian
