My favourite abandoned railway is the Great Northern & London North Western Joint Railway from Nottingham via Melton Mowbray to Market Harborough - the latter, southern section runs through the Leicestershire Wolds and had some lovely viaducts, one of which is now gone, the other may well be gone soon too. Hurry while it lasts.
If u want to know some historical train stations that no longer exist come to a little island called the isle of Sheppey and there is a total of 5 translations which have been transformed into other things or are still abandoned
I’ve always loved the journey from Leeds to York via Harrogate. Doing the walk from the Asda Car Park in Harrogate to Knaresborough is very picturesque. I think there is also a manually operated crossing on the route.
Excellent video again Dan, the comment about being hit by a car has shades of Auto Shenanigans and Jon's style of humour, something you deliver well with your well spoken tones, extensive vocabulary and deadpan delivery. Remember all of us early fans when you are a famous influencer.
Absolutely stunning mate! Honestly mind blown by your videos and the way you talk, the nice music in the background. You’re accent definitely makes a difference 😂 But keep up the great work, you’re like the younger version of David Attenborough.
This was a really interesting video. Thank you for taking the time to make it and for making it very interesting. I think what I love the most about your videos is the way you present them. I used to live in Waterbeech and I am sure that Botisham is somewhere I used to play as a kid.
I very much enjoy your rambles around the countryside, and the bits of railways history you add to the commentary is very interesting. Great research and presentations. A Happy Christmas to you and your family as well.
Thanks so much for favouring us with a full length video (I don't watch shorts). Until the 1920's, this line will have been busy not with passengers but with farm produce for market, wagons full of mangle wurzels and sugarbeet. Then came the smelly diesel lorries. Of course you're right, it could never support itself off passengers only.
My Mum used to go on this line when she was a teen. She also used Shippea Lea Station, another of your clips. I've cycled out along the line a few times and it's getting more accessible bit by bit. Nice one! *Shippea Hill, doh! Old brain fog. Mind you, spot the hill.....?
@OnlyTheRightTrack I was a schoolboy in England at the time of the Beeching cuts. Many of the closures caused rural communities to become even more isolated than they were already.
Thanks! By the way - do you know the work of John Betjeman? He was a delightfully eccentric old character last century, amongst other things, a railways enthusiast, and made some wonderfully atmospheric films on the subject. You might appreciate this one: th-cam.com/video/A2NZU3S-0iM/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared
Another amazing video! Getting one of your Berney Arms t-shirts for Christmas - one of my favourite tiny stations; I’ve loved visiting it on the two occasions I’ve been there - I once walked from Reedham and once from Great Yarmouth. However the new e-ink departure board wasn’t working when I visited…
Thanks so much! It means a lot haha. It is truly a marvelous stop, incredibly unique too! I've done the great Yarmouth walk and would love to do the Reedham one in the future haha
I enjoyed that, up to your usual standard. I found it very interesting. Constructively - "This is me" sounded a bit abrupt, maybe "Hello I'm at.." or just "Hi everyone" but of course it's entirely up to you. The other thing is that with your clip editing, some of your lip movements towards the end didn't coincide with the words I heard. That happens when you do a still overlay to your speaking, or when you change the speed of a visual clip without also linking it to the audio. I find the clip editing (for my films) very tedious at times, but for me it's a challenge to overcome it which I enjoy. You are very professional and I am sure you can work on that. I like the t-shirts by the way.
Very entertaining and slick presentation, made this Aussie want to watch through what at first glance seemed a dreary topic! You’d have an absolute field day in this country!
Another good Video, Although others have written about The Mid Suffolk light Railway part of which is now a heritage railway there is still much of interest to be written. Also the Bentley to Hadleigh (Suffolk ) branch with its Raydon Wood & Hadleigh Stations preserved . Little known is the intended branch from Mistley to Walton On The Naze (Essex) which although never built does have a bridge over the road from Mistley to Bradfield & a cutting for about a mile as far as Mistley Heath. It is well possible a contractors line was built to remove the spoils of the cutting.
Merry (just about) Christmas! Really good job with the editing as always. This must've been quite the nice little bit of scenic line back in the day, how interesting.
I love this. I only discovered your channel a few weeks ago. Please continue. How about a trek across the Cambridge to Oxford line as it’s being reinstated? This may take a while of course… Season’s Greetings from Basel.
Swaffham Prior looks to have a very interesting looking church or churches with the interestingly designed towers, that were behind you in that shot. Did you get chance to explore more off camera?
You have been likened to Geoff Marshall. I think I will go one better and say you are better than he. Your presentation is slick and well coordinated, no "ehs or ums" but well rehearsed dialog. Keep up the good work I hope you have a Happy Christmas and Santa brings you something really nice.
You proper cool making these videos my school mates think I'm weird but I really like yah videos coz I'm into trains me especially steam trains plz keep making new videos soon 😎👍😍
Sooo.. I just got my ivory t shirt with your design and it didn't disappoint! However! I'd like a logo of Thr Right Track on that too 😊. Great video! Are you driving?
Me too! I once found myself in Bottisham and lode wanting to get home! Station road brought excitement but there were decidedly no railway tracks or trains haha.
There are a LOT of disused rail sites ( up that way ) ... one , most famous is the abandoned northern rail yard of March ... this is now a HYPER top security : category A prison .. HMP Whitemoor 😝... Heh - Heh ....... DAVE™🛑
@ Yeah I totally feel you I just finished up all my exams if you want to do it today I can totally do that but yeah I also don’t have anything to do next week either so we can figure out a date
Merry (just before) Christmas everybody! I finally finished this video and I do hope you all enjoy! Where should I head to next?
I'd love to have caught a train to Mildenhall

Helmdon viaduct closed line in the 60's by the treacherous Richard Beeching's

Definitely the next Geoff Marshall - this is brilliant mate!
Thanks so much for all your kind comments! I greatly appreciate them haha.
@OnlyTheRightTrack It's great having someone my age who enjoys these things - I greatly appreciate your videos!
@geofftech2 should definitely see this!
Excellent video again Dan, the comment about being hit by a car has shades of Auto Shenanigans and Jon's style of humour, something you deliver well with your well spoken tones, extensive vocabulary and deadpan delivery. Remember all of us early fans when you are a famous influencer.
Hi Simon, thanks for the comment! I do appreciate it! I'll make sure to keep you in mind haha

Another interesting video that must take allot of time to visit & research these different locations.

That’s pretty interesting. These station videos are pretty cool. The longer videos are nice.
Glad you like them!
Truly putting the rest of the fandom to shame with your dazzling work!

Glad you enjoyed it!
This is great! Reminds me of this documentary I’ve been watching on TV.
Amazing! Enjoyed watching it :)
Nice this is right in my local patch, as a resident of Swaffham Bulbeck we often walk along the like on the Quy to Lode stretch as well
It's certainly a lovely walk, still remarkably rural too!
At last we get to see the vlog 😁 interesting as well 👍
1:41 Nice use of some abandoned railway!
Merry (nearly) Christmas! 🎄I really enjoy your videos: always interesting and informative 👌
Thanks so much Nigel! I appreciate all your comments haha.
My Mum used to go on this line when she was a teen. She also used Shippea Lea Station, another of your clips. I've cycled out along the line a few times and it's getting more accessible bit by bit. Nice one!

i live rlly near the old didcot to stadhampton line
love walking it despite the fact that the tracks are gone the station buildings are there!
Another fascinating video! Are you sure about cause and effect at 4:40 ?
I reckon it's a significant factor. The line saw incredibly little use and the rural location of it played a part I would guess
@OnlyTheRightTrack I was a schoolboy in England at the time of the Beeching cuts. Many of the closures caused rural communities to become even more isolated than they were already.
There's something so sad, and yet so atmospheric, about abandoned railway lines. Thanks for your videos, and have a lovely Christmas! 😀
Thanks for the comment, Laurence! You have put it marvelously, these places truly have an atmosphere unlike any others, Merry Christmas to you too!

While it's a shame seeing the old stations like this at least Quy is still looking great. Great video, nice merch, and amazing not dying 2:49
Thanks very much! Quy is certainly a little gem haha. Appreciate the comment on the merch, I'm quite happy with it lol
Awesome vid & greetings from Australia looks so cold there, its hard to believe trains used to run through those isolated parts
Very entertaining and slick presentation, made this Aussie want to watch through what at first glance seemed a dreary topic! You’d have an absolute field day in this country!

Love this vid keep up the great work you are so well spoken, you could be the next Michael Portillo i love his railway adventures
Merry (just about) Christmas! Really good job with the editing as always. This must've been quite the nice little bit of scenic line back in the day, how interesting.
Thanks very much mate! I appreciate it, the scenery there today is quite lovely. I'd have loved to traverse it by train haha
3:05 that's my old house 🙂 Great video.
Awesome! It's a nice little spot for sure
A fun and informative video!
Hadn't heard of this line before.

Great suggestion! I'll look into the feasibility of that (the first part should be simple enough as i use the redebeloped busway often)
Your content is on areas local to me so find your videos very interesting. Keep up the good work!
Thanks Tim! I appreciate it haha
And now, I'm about to get hit by a car. Well, that's a bit random in a conversation about merch 😂
Merry Christmas
AHH. So this is where your profile picture comes from! Nice channel and nice profile picture!
Thank you. Great research.
Swaffham Prior looks to have a very interesting looking church or churches with the interestingly designed towers, that were behind you in that shot. Did you get chance to explore more off camera?
I always say that Britain would be a much better place if all the railways reopened, the loss of them is such a waste!
Nice to see proper video.

Liked the succinct style.
He’s younger than me and has a successful TH-cam channel and merch. Good show man
Sooo.. I just got my ivory t shirt with your design and it didn't disappoint! However! I'd like a logo of Thr Right Track on that too 😊.
Great video! Are you driving?
Awesome! Thank you!
You should explore the old Cambridge to Haverhill (my hometown) route
I enjoyed the video and you well done😊
Thank you!
Decent little video mate.
Brilliant! (Personally, I'd love to have caught a train to Mildenhall!)
Me too! I once found myself in Bottisham and lode wanting to get home! Station road brought excitement but there were decidedly no railway tracks or trains haha.
can you visit Norfolk's lost railways? kings lynn to hunstanton line
Tons making a *great discovery?*
(hah)
Practically Great Waterton
excellent history
Thanks very much Joe!
why can i almost see the whole line being a heritage line
orthow the housing estate and the main line level crosing may be a problem
I don’t there is a lot of trackmasters
There are a LOT of disused rail sites ( up that way ) ... one , most famous is the abandoned northern rail yard of March ... this is now a HYPER top security : category A prison .. HMP Whitemoor 😝... Heh - Heh ....... DAVE™🛑
I'll have a look at that one! Sounds fascinating haha
Nice video. With the podcast we were supposed to do?
Thanks! Next week I'm free for quite a bit so do send a follow up haha. I've had exams and things now you see
@ Yeah I totally feel you I just finished up all my exams if you want to do it today I can totally do that but yeah I also don’t have anything to do next week either so we can figure out a date

Ngomong ngomong kalau didaerah indonesia ada banyak jalur kereta bekas peninggalan belanda semasa kolonial di Batavia👍
How old are you? I'm just curious. I was quite surprised when I saw how young you look.
15 but practically 16 haha
