I am so sorry for the loss of your daughter. I really appreciate your honesty and vulnerability. So many financial content creators are very judgmental about debt and encourage paying off debt at all costs, even before an emergency fund. I had an emergency expense this year, and if I had not had the emergency fund, debt would have gone up exponentially to cover that cost. Now I'm balancing reducing debt and building the emergency fund back up. I am so grateful we had the emergency funds.
Thank you so much. Yea, there are a lot of strong opinions out there when it comes to paying off debt and building an emergency fund. I’m glad you had your emergency fund to cover that expense. I definitely think it’s the wise course.
Someone once suggested I talk to and about myself like I would a friend going through the same situation. Would I berate them for making a simple mistake? Would I call them names? Would I tell them they could’ve done better? This shift changed my relationship with myself and how I handle inevitable shortcomings. I hope it helps someone else struggling with their own self worth 💙
I agree! A big financial lesson is to give yourself some grace. Some self love and self forgiveness is in order for your past year. The death of a child gives you an awful year. Just getting through it is a priority, the financial goals, could, and should take a backseat at those times. Dear, you did the best you could. It’s ‘normal’ to check out of routine life things during grief. So just tell yourself that year was a financial bust, and that’s ok, that that financial part is gone now, so take a breath, put last years financial journey to rest, and give yourself a new start for the new year. Bless you, and so sorry for your grief.
For #3, while yes it might've been a mistake, you went through an incredibly traumatic event (and still in it 💜). I would almost call it a lesson instead. So happy to hear you both are in therapy, continuing to send you healing vibes 💜
I just wanted to say that I'm sorry for your loss, but I appreciate your transparency and opening up to such a personal part of your life and owning up to your mistakes. The good thing is we can always get back on track which is exactly what you're doing. God bless you.

Kim, this was a great video. I'm so proud of you, I was worried about you. Sometimes we need a break when tragedy happens. Life can be so cruel, but I am glad you are recovering emotionally. God bless you my friend. Your year is going to be 2024!
Thank you. 🥹 You’re right about that. Sometimes we do need a break. You’re so sweet. I am trying to get out from under this dark cloud. Thanks for caring!
Sorry for your loss. I wish you nothing but the best in 2024. I know that may sound silly after your loss, but I hope God grants you peace about it all.

Hey Kim!! I still think what you saved and accomplished in 2023 and up to this point is commendable!! Then to deal with grief and how it impacts your life is something no one can truly prepare for. You and your husband are in my continued prayers. What a blessing if YT can be a great source of income!! I sure hope so!! 💜🙏🏾
Hi Imani!! Thank you so much my friend. I really appreciate your prayers l. It’s been a rough year but yea on the positive side, a lot was accomplished. All thanks to God ❤️
Kim I don't know how I found this video, maybe it found me today. I am sending much love to you for the courage to talk about the loss of your daughter. I lost my son almost exactly 3 yrs ago and I don't think I have heard someone talk about the mental spiral that comes with that. I related to you putting everything on pause and getting off track. I just started getting back to my goals in the fall. Thanks for the inspiration, I am now liking & subscribing.
Oh Nikki! I’m so sorry that you’ve also been dealing with the excruciating pain of losing a child. It’s such a struggle. Thank you for the love. And I’m sending some right back at you. I really hope this year is a great one for you.❤️
Hi 👋 I'm new here but I wanted to say thank you for sharing your life with us. I'm so sorry u lost your daughter. Grief is horrid but I have learnt be kind to yourself & what u can't face at one point, u will be able to at some point in future. Don't compare yourselves to others. 😘 On a different note u are incredible to save $20,000 for an emergency fund so well done! Sending hugs 🫂 & prayer 🙏 from Australia 🇦🇺
Hi there!!! Thank you so much for saying that. It’s extremely hard on my husband right now. He was raising her alone until I came along. So he feels like his heart was ripped out. It’s unbelievably sad. Hopefully, in time, the pain will ease up. 🙏🏾 Thank you for the hugs & prayers. I really appreciate them ❤️
I appreciate this types of videos about money but I can never find single parents ❤doing this financial journey hits different for us. God bless enjoy your 2024
Thank you!! You as well 😘 It is different for single parents. There’s quite a few single moms on here documenting their journey. I’ll try to remember to let you know who as I come across them.
Thank you for your vulnerability! I learned a lot! I would suggest praying against generational curses/inheriting depression. God be with you in 2024! ❤
My mistake I want to learn from it is stopping using my credit card, I keep paying it all and I done so well this year but I keep using it and I am back to so more debt now 😮😢😮 Like you one of my diagnosis is depression so I do struggle with the emotional side as well that is way at times I can’t care about been consistent and just let it go and then debt increases. I have tried so many different meds and done different therapies 😔😞 Thank you again for your honest and open confessions I feel you the most trusting person here on you tube that I can definitely relate. You not trying to be perfect all the time but you keep working hard and keep doing one step at time, very inspirational. Thank you so much for been you Kim 💗💙💗 you very strong lady 💗💙💗
Cris, you are definitely one of my faves.🩷 Thank you for being so open with me as well. I feel like we have a number of similarities. Depression is the biggest hurdle right now for both my husband and I. Everything you said resonates with me. It’s amazing how Bible principles can help us in any aspect of our life. I recall that Jesus said something to the effect of: if your right hand makes you stumble, cut it off. (Figuratively speaking) So if the credit card is a reoccurring trap that we fall into, we can cut it up.
Yea, that was my thinking too. Then I learned how to get all fancy with debt to avoid interest 🤦🏾♀️ But I’m done with the whole game now. My goal is to pay cash for everything 🙏🏾
Gosh, you’ve had a traumatic experience with the loss of your daughter. You’ve done so well under the circumstances. We have to extend grace to ourselves when we’ve had such loss to deal with. Here is wishing you all the best on your journey.
God bless you! I’m so sorry for your loss and your pain. You are so strong to share your story even through your grief and healing. I really admire and appreciate you and I’ll be following along with your story and your debt free journey. Wishing you a very happy and blessed new year! ❤
Thank you so much for leaving such kind words. ❤️ I can’t tell you enough how much I appreciate your comment. And thank you for supporting me on my journey
I just happened upon your channel. I’ve been watching a lot of financial and organizing videos and I guess the algorithm felt I needed to watch your channel too! Condolences on the loss of your daughter, I pray that you will feel a little stronger everyday. For 2024, my goals are to increase my emergency savings, pay off the rest of my credit cards and no more buying , clothes, shoes etc. this year. My ultimate goal is to retire next year so I’m on the launch pad now! Peace to you! ❤️
Thank so much ❤️ You’ve got some great goals. I need to join you on the no more buying train. I’ve wasted so much money recently on clothes and boots that I didn’t actually need. I’m going to be cheering you on as you reach your goals this year and next 🙌🏾 Retire in ‘25!! -has a nice ring to it🎉
Hi Kim, I'm sure 2024 will be a prosperous year! I can't wait to see more of everyones journey. I'm excited. I continue to pray for you along with Ms Lady Di now. Thank you for being here and inspiring others, even with all the life curve balls and brakes, we come back and keep on trucking.
Thank you! I know we both truly appreciate your prayers. I’m excited as well to see how everyone progresses on their journey. Thank you for being here with me! ❤️
Give yourself grace! Blessings for 2024! My mistake is not having enough money in my emergency fund. I would like to have between 20-50K. I hope to be able to find a new job in the next few months because I will be laid off the end of Feb 2024. sigh!
Oh wow, I really hope that you’re able to find employment soon. 🙏🏾 I know how stressful can be. Thank you so much for your well wishes for me too. I hope 2024 is full of blessings for you as well💗
Hi Kim.. We have similar similarities.. As in I need to learn what an emergency is over learning to wait.. With the tragedies we experienced as a family.. I too went on a shopping spree.. But it didn't last.. Thankfully I had saved up for it in my Splurge sinking fund.. But I did go over budget.. On the other hand.. I admire how you have these real talks with us.. About your healing. What you're going through is very real and very tough. Have grace on yourself. So great to hear that you and your hubby are holding on to each other during this time.. God definitely is the strength that will get you through.. Really appreciate you taking about this topic 🫶🏼
Hi Gillian❤️ Yes, I noticed the similarities between you and I. That’s why I connected to you from the beginning. I’m so glad you had that splurge sinking fund. That’s a brilliant idea. Thank you so much my friend. Your words are always comforting to me. Love ya lady!!
I'm deeply sorry you lost your daughter. My beother died when I was 12, loosing someone so loved eeally fucks you up... I'm sorry you are going through this 💔
I know people always say "the pain always stays it never truly gets easier." That's not true, in time you will heal but by bit, hearing her name will hurt less and seeing photos. It will take time but you will be happy and you deserve to be again ❤
Thank you. Oh yea, it’s definitely difficult. I’m sorry to hear about your brother. That is so painful. My big brother died when I was 17 and I struggled for a while. I’m so sorry that you went through that too. And thank you soooo much for your comforting words. I truly appreciate it.💗🤗
@@debt2none thank you for your reply 🙂 you're very strong and smart, and I'm sending you all the hugs and positivity. You got this, you can handle anything and I believe in you
@@debt2none I'm sorry for the loss of your brother too, we may not be able to see them but as big brothers they'll always want the best for us and somewhere they're rooting for us! Love and connection never dissapears ❤️ even when memories fade, how you feel in their presence will always stay safe. We remember always how someone makes us feel, they will never truly be gone because we know their light never dims in our hearts 💕
As long as we continue, they are alive in us. Our lost loved ones want us to live as free, content, and happily/enjoyable as possible, because they loved and cared about us too just like we did them and we all at some point want what's best for eachother 💓
I hear that! I can understand how having someone else control the finances could be considered a mistake. I really hope you’re able to work everything out.
Thank you for sharing, I love your take on finances and your voice is so soothing! I am so sorry for your loss and truly your ability to speak about your personal life, your honesty is so inspiring. I really agree with the debt thoughts if you don’t have anything saved for the big oh crap moments the circle of financial debt will never end. It is something you really encouraged me to focus on and plan on getting a nest egg aside so I can first and foremost stop accumulating new debt. Take care and thank you for videos!! ❤
Thank you so much ❤️ I can’t tell you how much your words just made my day. This is so encouraging. Thank you Thank you!! It really means a lot to know I’m able to encourage you with your financial journey. That’s everything for me. I wish you all the best on your journey💗💗💗
Welcome back! Do you have separate savings goals for your 1099 income. Not sure if you still have your cleaning company but TH-cam income over a certain AMT is taxable. I removed the escrow from my mortgage and save money in a high yield savings acct for the qrtly tax due & also the home owners ins. The acct is separate from other savings accts
Thank you! 🤗 Yes, I’ve been saving a percentage of my income from cleaning and YT in preparation for taxes. I want to completely remove my escrow too. That was smart of you. I only took out the homeowners ins. but not the taxes. I think I’d be better off saving it in my own high yield savings account rather than leaving it up to my mortgage carrier.
Kim i am so happy to see you! I'm happy to hear i will see more of you. Ive missed you so so much . I've made mistakes bad money mistakes but that is behind me now. I have changed my mindset regarding money. My mistake was spending money when I'm out and about a lot. Coffee treats fast foods and treating others. I went home and wrote it down. I said to my self.... are you crazy.. you have all this stuff at home. And it's free. Stop wasting money. Once a week is ok but 2- 3 x a week is now out of the question. So the last 3 months i have been wanting to save any or all of my rollover. By the end of January i will have fully funded my Emergency fund of $2K. I don't need much more than that. I live alone. No big expenses. I just am in this crazy save mode. I rarely buy anything other than groceries. I'm also working on my one month ahead trying to reach 3 months ahead. My last goal is a personal savings just for me for anything i want to do to live a better life. Caring giving sharing and maybe a short holiday. Personal savings amount for me is prob going to be about $4200. That's pretty much it for 2024. I'm excited to reach these goals. I have smaller goals that don't evolve around money but self care. In super Hatoyama to see you! You always make me smile. I love you my friend. ❤😊 Happy New Year to and yours. 😊
Wow, Yvonne, it’s sounds like you’re doing well even with the extra spending. I think it’s amazing that you realize that you don’t need a lot and have already fully funded your emergency fund. I’m excited to cut our expenses even more so. We really don’t need a $20K EF but I just wanted to hit that goal 😂 You are so sweet. I can imagine how easy it is for you to spend on your loved ones. You seem like you have a big heart. I enjoy treating others too. It’s okay. God loves a generous spirit. 😘 I hope and pray 2024 treats you well my dear friend ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Kim, I know you will get back on track with working out your new budget. You will feel relieved and no stress. It's funny once you have that emergency fund in place you don't worry so much. I'm excited to see what you have in store for yourself in 2024! Keep this videos rolling! I did forget to mention my debt. I have one card about $1600 and that will be gone end of March. The other end of May. And the very last one will be in October. I will be so happy to hit these goals. I know I can, I know I can, I know I can......😅 luv ya
I asked my emergency fund question JUST BEFORE I saw this video. Sigh.....I've added up my yearly expenses and I think that $10k would make me feel safe in an emergency fund. So I'm going to set my goal that way.
That sounds like a great number. And if I’m being completely honest $10k is probably sufficient for most people. I’m happy that you have the goal set now. I’m here cheering you on 🙌🏾🤗
Kim it so great to see you, you always have the gift of seeing all the sides, the good, the bad and the omg how did I live thought that. Lol and then changing course. I look forward to any conversation you want to have.❤
Dear Kim, thank you so much for sharing your money and family and personal journey with us - through your vulnerability and teaching you are helping many - you're certainly helping me feel inspired and focused and wanting to continue on my journey, feeling normal as I navigate pitfalls as well. I am SO sorry for the loss of your daughter - that must be soul crushing; it's no wonder you've had a difficult time staying on your budget track - that would derail anyone. I think all your reactions have been completely normal and in my opinion that's what your $20k saved emergency fund is for - to help you get through a traumatic moment like this. This year I went through the peak of my menopause transition so I went through some depression as I was waiting to start hormone replacement therapy, and I made one very bad financial choice during that time. I'm now course correcting working on recovering from that. Once again thank you so much for sharing your story and journey with us, and best to you and your husband as you continue to grieve your beautiful daughter. Peace, love and blessings to you in 2024! ❤
Hey sweet lady, your comment is so encouraging for me. Thank you. I really appreciated what you said. Sounds like you’ve been dealt some blows too this year. That’s a lot. But I’m happy to hear that you’re working on recovery. Thank you so much for your well wishes❤️ I hope 2024 has many blessings in store for you as well.
I just started watching you I also subscribed❤my condolences to you and your family my heart for you. Thank you for the financial tip cause I am on a financial journey right now is one of my new year goals so I will keep on watching you
Thank you soooo much for joining me here 💗 and thank you for your condolences. I wish you all the best on your financial journey. It’s an exciting ride. I’ll be cheering you on as well.
Hi girl, im so so sorry for your loss and glad you are in therapy. Thats something u can’t handle without professional help. I’m curious what are you using to track your spending? I’m at the beginning of my journey so looking for suggestions. I’ve been using pen and paper but not sure if that’s the most effective way.
The $1k Emergency fund is just for starters and small small emergencies like needing a new tire or simple repair. Its not meant to be only amount in it. A true Emergency fund is to habe at least 3 to 6 months of your household expenses. TBH, its best to save up a year's worth because you just never know. Covid showed us we were not prepared for it.
Oh yea for sure. And some advise waiting until all debt is paid off before saving the full amount. I realized that didn’t work for me. I think $20k is more than sufficient for us. So now I can focus on the debt payoff again 🤗
Hi, Well, where do I start😢! I need to track my . There was a time when I set unrealistic goals for my self, comparing my life to my sisters lives. Things have gotten better since I started minded my own business
Ooooohhhh yessss, the comparison trap is the worst. I hear ya!! I’m glad to hear things have gotten better for you. I completely understand the tendency. I used to compare myself to my friends and I was miserable. I had to accept the fact that we’re all different and it’s absolutely fine. Now I just do what I can within my own circumstances. Soooo much better ❤️
Hey Budget Buddies!! 🤍 Thank you so much for hanging out with me. So what mistakes are you fixing for 2024? Let’s chat.

Going through that makes other things seem un important. ♥️
You’re so right. There’s not a lot that seems important right now. Thank you for that 😘
Kim I am so sorry for your loss
Thank you so much ❤️❤️❤️
So sorry for your loss. ❤
Thank you ❤️❤️❤️
Hi Kim, I'm sure 2024 will be a prosperous year!

Thank you for this video.
Aw, it’s my pleasure. Thank YOU for watching.💗💗💗
Heyyy Kim, watching while working
Hey sweet lady! 😘
My deepest sympathies for your loss💐💐
Thank you ❤️💗❤️
I'm deeply sorry you lost your daughter.
I miss your uploads because I listen while cleaning.
I am going to be more consistent. Hey, I love cleaning while videos play in the background too! 🤗
@@debt2none 👍🤣
My biggest mistake is that i let my niece use my finances like her own. I must and need to control my funds.
I hear that! I can understand how having someone else control the finances could be considered a mistake. I really hope you’re able to work everything out.

I loved this! Thanks for sharing!!
Thank you sooooo much for watching. I really appreciate you🤗
Happy New Year. I hope you had a great start off great. If so keep it up
Heey! Thank you!!! So far so good ☺️
Thank you for sharing, I love your take on finances and your voice is so soothing!
I like this tip about the escrow. How long into owning can you do this?
@Bigyaad I was asked at closing if I wanted an escrow or not. I think moving forward I’ll decline the option of an escrow.
I’m so proud of your honesty. Thank you for sharing your testimony with us. God bless you and Happy New Year!
Hey Kim!!! Thank you sweet lady. I pray 2024 if full of many blessings for you as well. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I’m here cheering you on 🙌🏾🤗
Im sorry for your loss
Thank you❤️
Kim it so great to see you, you always have the gift of seeing all the sides, the good, the bad and the omg how did I live thought that. Lol and then changing course. I look forward to any conversation you want to have.❤
Thank you so much Gina. You have a way with words that’s always encouraging to me. ❤️ Thank you sweet lady😘

Thank you ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
My big mistake 2023: not starting my youtube channel. Fortunately, I still have an opportunity to do so.
Oh yea, you can make 2024 your year! 🙌🏾
Hey there! Thank you.❤️
I downloaded an app called “Spending Tracker” for my iPad. I’ve been enjoying it. But there’s so many choices out there.
Good video !
Thank you! 🤗
