she's great!! struggling to follow him for moments but not more than other partners of him, really complex lead! to such an extent that sometimes I doubt he truly knows what he's doing. His musicality and memory are amazing, both have super skills and style.

Richa Mahule Yes, but also he know very well popular songs.
When I was at Terry’s workshop he said that one of the main things is to listen and know as many songs as you can.
So yes he knows the songs by heart..
Music is build up in patterns. Usually of sets of 4 times 8 counts. Therefor, musicality is something one can learn. Mostly by listening to heaps and heaps of music. And dancing to it, of course. Eventually it is a matter of matching your combinations, of which you know how many counts they are, with the patterns in the music. That said, Terry is by far the best in catching each and every break, indeed.

I cant understand the replies below. I see her having hard time following the lead without proper tension and consideration of her vertical. It is not tgat she's not overstyling. She just can't cos the leader does not give her a second or stability to do it. He's doing all he can do but does not allow her to be who she is while dancing. This kinda partneship is not enjoyable but worth to see how the leader interprets the music and solo dances.
2:15 . She can do all she wants . Also consider that this is only one song and every dancer has a different take on the interpretation of the musicality of every song . No worries . Terry wouldn’t dance w you and you wouldn’t dance like him . So it’s all good
I agree. He's twirling her like a top repeatedly with little time for a connection between the two of them before she's twirled out again. He's a great dancer and an excellent lead. He knows the music, but the piece that's missing is the moments in between. She's doing at minimum twice the number of steps as him, and turning 3 times as much. In heels. I call her brave 😅
