I love this version because it keeps the original theme, but it goes so fucking hard. "The world has ended... but we're not done and neither is the world."
I remember falling in love with this song the first time I heard it as a kid (SNES), and fearing that it was just a one-time incidental cue that would end when I landed the airship. I dreaded that possibility, so I just hovered there for several minutes just listening to it. Imagine my elation to discover it had become the new overworld music!
I can imagine Celes, Edgar, Sabin, and Sedgar playing the initial instruments. But as the piece goes on, the more friends they find, more instruments are added. Edit: Lol. Must've been tired to mix Setzer and Edgar. But yeah. point stands. I'll leave my mistake cause I'm an idiot and it's funny.
This song...is Hope: this is the characters each experiencing their own trials and tribulations and eventually coming to a resolution: Terra learning what love is by having the strength to fight for the orphans of Mobliz; Locke finally being set free of his guilt over losing Rachel and owning his feelings for Celes, who in turn comes to realize she isn't truly alone in the world; Cyan overcoming the loss of his family and liege and becoming a stronger person while still retaining the memory of their love and respect; Setzer taking the chance to allow himself to figuratively and literally find himself a pair of wings to fly bestowed upon him from a dearly departed friend; Strago and Relm, who each lose hope or struggle to find new hope respectively, being reunited; Mog, the last Moogle of Narshe, choosing to help take on the maniac responsible. I could go on and on, but we'd be here all day if I did... The point being: This song is rekindling the flame within to help brighten a now darkened world in desperate need, this is you picking up the pieces and fixing what Kefka destroyed. I love this song so much, it IS Final Fantasy 6 encapsulated in song form.

The monument to your failures. Then you find Sabin and save a boy from a burning house, as the flames die out a small spark of hope finds it way into your heart. You find Terra, but she doesn't join you, her fight is for a group of children now with no one else to protect them. She feels powerless, having been unable to prevent the world's ruin. But maybe here she has some control. Then you see Edgar, except he pretends to not know you or his brother. You follow him as he breaks into his own castle. You fend off a monster with him and stop anyone else from getting hurt. The brothers reunite, and that spark of hope grows to a flame. Then in a pub you find Setzer. The four of you enter into a tomb, the tomb dedicated to his lover. As it progresses you learn of Setzer's loss, his pain, the same trauma that each of your fellow adventurers share. Pain and loss, no control, fighting to retain a piece of their former selves in the present. This is a harsh world, where people hurt each other and evil has won. Then Setzer recounts the determination of his lost love, her spirit, and you are filled with a solemn inspiration. The flame becomes a fire, and as the minor scale notes begin to ascend, you feel the pain in each note, you feel the hope in each interval. And the airship ascends with those notes. Good to see somebody that shares the same thought. This is by far the most powerful music in the game, a depressing music changing to a one that gives the feeling of hope.
Last year I streamed my entire playthrough of this amazing remaster on Kick and just being able to share this experience all over again, hearing the new music was just a joy. Sharing my heart about how much this game had such an impact on my life, including how much the SNES really helped me share these experiences with friends growing up. This game along with Chrono Trigger really left such a mark on my life and reminded me of some of the happiest moments in my childhood. Even as an adult you really begin to empathize in some context, with what each character goes through in these games. Sure a work of fiction can tell a great story but the narrative that you can compare as a mature adult, can make you even connect deeper with it's story. You never think about it as a kid until you grow up and even then, replaying it can really be rewarding. 😃
Thanks a lot for your kind comments and sharing. It is really a beautiful experience among us. I have a similar experience with this and other games, and I share it by creating this channel.

When I played the Pixel Remaster I made sure not to listen to a SECOND of any of the soundtrack because, as this is my favorite game of all time, I wanted everything to come to me naturally. This is and will always be my favorite song in this game. So when I got to the cutscene where you first hear it I just let it play. I didn’t do anything other than follow the bird. I sat there and listened to it as it went on, and all the instruments joined in. I was in awe. I cried for the second and final time in my play through, the first being the opera scene. Happy 30th anniversary FFVI. I’ll be replaying you next month on my Original Cart when you officially turn 30. Even though I’ve only been alive for 20 of the years this game has existed, I’m eagerly awaiting 30 more years, and every time I go searching for friends.
We did it! All 3 of us That was..the strangets adventure even part of So many deaths because of that creature i don't know to do be now... Don't give up we know this is a Hidden soot
This version is beautiful, superbly done. I still prefer the snes version, as it's more simple and minimalist in terms of orchestration, and it conveys a more intimate feeling of hope. There's hope but no grandeur, still, in this world of ruin. There is so much to do, starting with comforting each other and moving forth despite the struggles. Also the 'mechanical' drums make it so cool, I imagine it to be the falcon engine's noises that, in a way, is the conductor/vehicle of this new-found hope/theme (which it is). So the original fits extremely well. It's just wonderful.
I have a bit of a love/dislike relationship with this piece. It's an absolutely beautiful piece of music and did an amazing job of taking the original (which was incredible in its own right, despite being 16 bit) and turning it into something really special. I was awe inspired the first time I heard it. However, it fails at one of the key components of video game music. It has to be able to be listened to on repeat. Nobuo Uematsu was a genius with this, as he could create beautiful pieces of music that could be heard on repeat without getting old or grating. This fails that by having that big bombastic crescendo at the end. It's absolutely wonderful on the first listen or two, but gets really really old after grinding on the world map for hours when you're actually playing the game. None of the other themes had this problem in this or any of the other remaster games, but this one has got me to the point that I either want to put the game on mute, or switch it back to the original 16 bit version.
Glad someone explains what I feel. I first heard this outside the game and I was hyped to reach this part but... It doesn't work very well in game for some reason for me. The original does. Just like you, I only find this to be the case with this one specific track and I hate that because I actually love this remix so much
I'm still very torn over which soundtrack to use in game, new ones great but there's something charming about the originals. Some sound genuinely better like Kefka's theme. Then others like Gogo's theme where you get a completely new track that's so much better
this is one of those songs that i adore the first couple of times hearing it, but quickly grow sick of how often i have to hear the intro play between every transition while flying around the map. it's one of those songs that makes me wish more songs didn't constantly start over from the top every time they change to a different song like for battles. in fact i kinda wish all the battle themes in all these games did likewise. you have to have a REALLY good intro to not make it get tiring to hear over and over and over and over and over and over
This is one of the few songs where I actually prefer the older version to the Pixel Remaster orchestration. There's a certain fullness to the previous version that just makes it hit harder for me --- maybe it's the heavier emphasis on the bass parts? Not sure. Don't get me wrong, this is pretty. But I don't like it QUITE as much.
This is an instance where I prefer this version. It not only shows hope, but that as time goes on, more instruments are added as more friends are found.
@@mcihay246 That's cool! Like I said, I enjoy this version, and I think all the reorchestrations are fantastic in general --- this one just doesn't evoke quite the same emotional response for me as the original, personally.
@@supremeoverlorde2109 Oh. I definitely get it. Music is a very good nostalgia amplifier. Especially when you hear the exact same 16-bit theme that you've heard whilst you were younger, at a time where you're not.
@@mcihay246 Normally I would agree with that, but in this case it actually isn't nostalgia for me! I didn't play FF6 until like last year, shortly before the Pixel Remasters came out. I feel no nostalgia for any Final Fantasy game, as I'm a relatively new fan and still in those days where I'm experiencing many of the games for the first time. It could partially be that the OG is just what I heard first and got used to, but then, there are some songs from the newer version I like better too. So I suppose it's just a matter of preference.
For a lot of the sprites (except for the battle sprites) they used the GBA version as reference, which obviously had a brighter colour pallete as to compensate for the dark gameboy screen. If you have the PC version you can mod back in the SNES map, which looks much nicer.
Perhaps, it is also because I did not increase the volume enough when I edited the video. If you increase the volume, you will be able to hear it I think.
@@GamerMusic1239 the bass line is supposed to be very prominent in this track, since it’s the best part. Also, even if the bass line was present in this version, the original is infinitely better. The SNES has the perfect sound font for RPGs and the soundtrack did not have to be rearranged in any way. So sad that original music is not an option in these pixel remasters.
Because the old translation was a gag sub that was out of touch with the original game, felt like a parody. Yeah, I know, "my precious memes"... That's precisely why it was retired. Anyways, you're 15 years late. The modern translation has been in use ever since the GBA version came out.
The original translation was pretty inaccurate so the gba version retranslated it and the pixel remaster used that translation Also the original translation screwed up Locke's character in some ways which is a pretty notable issue
First time hearing this song with the Falcon rising to the skies, best part of the game

散々世界を破壊した、あのラスボス、、、。ケフカがもっと強ければ倒し甲斐が有るんだろうけどな、、、
This is one of the few songs where I actually prefer the older version to the Pixel Remaster orchestration. There's a certain fullness to the previous version that just makes it hit harder for me --- maybe it's the heavier emphasis on the bass parts? Not sure. Don't get me wrong, this is pretty. But I don't like it QUITE as much.
i agree, its definitely not the same without the bass and percusion from the original

The overworld looks way too bright.. WTF happened?
For a lot of the sprites (except for the battle sprites) they used the GBA version as reference, which obviously had a brighter colour pallete as to compensate for the dark gameboy screen.
If you have the PC version you can mod back in the SNES map, which looks much nicer.
this is one song the pixel remaster nails. generally I thought it was worse
Anyone here because sonic.exe soh?
Where is the bass line???? 😠
Still there. Get better headphones.
@@mikej2020 The bass line IS 110% funky!
@@Dinosaurs_with_laser_guns yes in the original! Hear I can barely hear it. 😡
There should have been an option for the original music in the remaster.
why did they retranslate all these when they re did them? the ted woolsey verson on the snes was far better
Because the old translation was a gag sub that was out of touch with the original game, felt like a parody. Yeah, I know, "my precious memes"... That's precisely why it was retired.
Anyways, you're 15 years late. The modern translation has been in use ever since the GBA version came out.
The original translation was pretty inaccurate so the gba version retranslated it and the pixel remaster used that translation
Also the original translation screwed up Locke's character in some ways which is a pretty notable issue
Too soft this version
omf uthey butcherd it but the damn orchestra ahhhhh idk if i like it but damn the flutes tears lol
