I’m doing well but I’m struggling with my orchids. I’m a beginner grower and cranked up the heat in the winter and none of them spiked. I can’t spend the money cooling them down with the air conditioner now. I guess I have to wait till next year!
Hey, I have a beautiful big phalaenopsis which is in full bloom and has a lot of green roots. Problem is that is has 3 basal keiki. As you can guess 3 basal keiki is a lot for one mother plant and the keiki don't have a lot of room. Should I remove them once they have roots of their own and when the mother plant is out of bloom? And how do I best remove them without hurting the mother plant.
Dear Dani, You have impacted my life so much so I wanted to write in to express my gratitude. I found your Chanel about a year ago when I first became interested in orchids. Your information was so helpful and most importantly encouraging for me as a beginner. Early up I killed a few plants unfortunately at it caused me to stop for a couple months. I was so sad, and the negative comments I got from a few local growers really dampened my spirit. It was then that your videos were my support line. I wasn't sure I could make a fulfilling hobby out of orchids. After all the are very expensive where I live and I was afraid of throwing good money after bad. I took inspiration from you to purchase discounted plants ( I didn't even know my 1 local plant shop had a sale section! It was hidden in the back!) And I began to grow my collection. When I started to get the hang of caring for a few varieties and even got some blooms I was so excited. I joined my local orchid society but was met with a bit of an attitude from some about have all NOID orchids. But guess what?! I didn't care! You grow your plants for joy and your pleasure, and I decided to do just that! I love my pretty NOID flowers, and I'm so proud of my plants! Thank you so much for the information and support you supply for so many. I love your attitude, you are so genuine and down to earth. I thoroughly enjoy every video of yours and I am always clamouring when I see a new upload. One more thing you have inspired... I bought my first African violet today! I was never drawn to them, but after seeing your love for them I couldn't help but have them grow on me! Again, a million thanks! K
Hi K, thank you for writing to me! I'm so sorry you were treated badly by some in this community. We all go through problems with orchids, but we learn. Also some of my NoID orchids are my favorites! ID's are important for contest gowers, or hybridizers, we just want pretty plants ☺️ so don't let a few bad apples spoil the 🥧.. how did that go? Lol it's a wonderful hobby and most growers are wonderful people! Orchids can be an escape we all need from time to time. Glad to hear my videos helped you! 😘
Always nice to see positive/success stories. I love hearing thoughts on the various setups. I've gone for a full sphagnum moss for some of my thinner root orchids. And just being very careful not to make things too soggy. It's working for me at the moment will keep my fingers crossed things continue that way in the future.
I have been watching you for a few months now. I have always wanted orchids but I’ve always heard that they’re too difficult. I have one orchid plant that I have been caring for with my knowledge from your channel. Today I went to water it and noticed the most beautiful bright green roots growing! I’m so excited! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with me so that my orchid growing experience can be a positive one!
Welcome back from holiday, hope you enjoyed your weekend! All this good news is welcomed and made me smile today in this crazy mixed up world we are in. Keep up the fantastic work! 🥰💯
Hi Danny, how are you doing? I'm hopping you are safe. Your still stay at home like most of us here in Greece? Tonight, after watching this video, something push me to take a closer look at my Neofinetia, and can you imagine my surprise....she has a tiny flower spike!!!! I have this plant 1 year!!!! I'm so excited!!!! Thank you so much.....
Hi, Dani! I recently discovered your amazing "Miss Orchid Girl" channel, and it's so uplifting to know that you get just as much joy, as I do, from orchids in bloom! They're a gift from God, and the fragrant ones, are so sweet, they're heavenly! So, take time to smell the orchids, and the roses! Love & Light, to You, "Miss Orchid Girl" -----Arlene
Loved this topic as it addressed some of the issues we have from time to time. I’m talking in my case about using a dome for Phals that are struggling. Thanks xx
Hi Dani.. I am new to orchids and feel fortunate to have found your channel, I never knew there was so much that could affect their health! So, thank you for sharing your knowledge and experiences for us newbies! Now, I am in the USA and would love to order that Phal Anaconda but cannot find a supplier. Can you suggest any? Thanks in advance and stay safe.
@@MissOrchidGirl Hi Danny isolation is proceeding as we should and daughter father bonding time is terrific. But life has thrown us many curves and some sad. Hope you and family are doing well keeping strong and healthy, as well as your community here.
lady how are you I have six orchid and they all are doing wonderful they blooming I'm just having a problem with just one growing out of the center but everything looks okay I think it's the flower Spike I'm not sure
Oh my gosh HELP! I bought an orchid at the store and didnt realize it was in such pitiful condition. When I pulled it out of the pot just about all the roots were rotted, and I realized that the stem going into the flowers was actually glued. It was also covered in gnats! How the flowers are alive is beyond me. I cut off all the dead roots, put it in a new pot specifically for orchids (air pot) and gave it new medium. Do you think it will survive? Please let me know what else I can do!
What a wonderful video! Thanks for keeping us entertained while we’re in lockdown. I love seeing your Neo falcatas, I’m seeing the first flower spikes on my Neo falcatas now too (I’ve been waiting a couple of years). I’m impressed by your success with the sick Phan. Do you think the humidity dome would be a good idea for a terrestrial orchid? I have a rootless Paph. concolor that I’m trying to revive.
Hi, increasing humidity is good for any dehydrated orchid yes, just be sure to check often for mold outbreaks, they could happen in such high humidity ☺️
Hello, Ms. Orchid girl, One question, S. moss vs wooden bark which one is better? Your reply will be appreciated and helpful to me as sorry to say I killed two orchids was with Moss and putting ice cube. Thanks 🙏 watching from Canada 🇨🇦
Hi, both are awesome if used correctly, the ice is not ok. Orchids don't grow in icy conditions naturally. I talk more about using different potting mixes here if you want to learn more about them th-cam.com/video/tMHpameTvCo/w-d-xo.html
Hello, Orchid girl. Thanks for your prompt reply. Yes now watching your this video. Sorry to bother you again, question is apart from your all items show in here, small pebble also be used to grow Orchid plants? When you have time please reply. Thanks
Why are my spikes from my phalaenopsis thin and short? I do live in a high altitude. and dry atmosphere most of the year if not all year. I want to keep the roots moist instead of the drying out but I'm afraid of them rotting. Would the dryness have something to do with the size of my spikes?
Question: i have a rootless orchid I've been trying to save but hasnt shown any difference in months. The leaves are still wrinkled with dehydration etc. So... can it be totally dead even with green leaves?
Hi Danny, can I ask you what happens to the leaves of a phalaenopsis if she gets too much sun. I have one I'm afraid she gets direct sun - albeit gentle sun - I live at 60 degrees N. Shetland islands. Do they get kinda mottled leaves? Xxx
Hi, if the leaf overheats due to sun exposure it will burn. These burns look like either dark, or completely dry patches. Make sure the leaves don't feel hot to the touch, if they are cool they won't get burns ☺️
I'm having trouble keeping tolumnia, it's either too dry or too wet (and die). Do you have advice? I feel like I'll neglect them if they're only in sphagnum moss
Hi, well the key is just to find the balance, it can be bark, moss, a mix, clay pots, small plastic pots, mounts, all can work great if you are comfortable with them in your environment. I have them in small plastic pots with a mix of small bark and moss in a very warm environment, for example ☺️
It seems like after a lot of experimenting with many types of media, you are sticking with a bark and sphagnum mix for most of your orchids. Is this a fair statement? I live in a dry/hot climate, so I think it is similar to your environment. I bought a bag of bark and hope to transplant a few of my orchids into it. I currently have them growing in bags with a bit of peat moss (yes, peat moss!). But seeing as bark seems like the all-purpose mix that has worked for you, I would like to try it again.
Hey Dani, hi, I think you should look on google for Phalaenopsis/Doritaenopsis Black Bird, a beautiful hybrid with such an intense reddish color. I love your videos, and good luck

Hi, I think the fertilising regime, recent stress and light have more of an effect, but be sure your orchids can grow long spikes, some can't ☺️
My good, so are beautiful
Question: i have a rootless orchid I've been trying to save but hasnt shown any difference in months. The leaves are still wrinkled with dehydration etc. So... can it be totally dead even with green leaves?
Is there a type of fertilizer you recommend using on orchid seedlings? Is the MSU fertilizer safe to use on them even if they were recently repotted?
What does it mean, if one of the leaves in a phaleanopsis moves around the base, but is firm yet lays on the other leaf?
Hi, not really sure what you mean by moving, but check to see if it's still attached at the stem, maybe it broke in some places 🤔

Hi, looks lovely ☺️
Mam,
I m a beginner from India , my vanda orchid's leave are getting yellow and drying day by days . Can u help me to fix the problem.
Hi, not sure I can help, it may be stem rot. Research a bit this term and see if it looks the same. Good luck!
@@MissOrchidGirl thanks mam. I regularly watch ur videos . all r helps me a lot .
May i spray fungicide for this problem . or control watering . I used to spray water twice in a day for 10 to 15 mins
Hi there. Kind of boring here during this time. But at least my orchids are doing really good. I have new flowers on one which I never had before!
Hi Danny! Any AV video soon?
Not sure, I am currently treating the thrips and that means separating orchids from violets and also starting some of them from leaf again
You should get orchid flasks.
I’m early :3
