I worked with Donny Hayes when he had the Wingan river farm. We drove there together daily, the stories that he would tell me about the early days of the ab industry were still some of the best stories I have ever heard. The places he would take me each day, up bush tracks to show me spot x after spot x, would annoy the farm manager he had working for him to the brink. I learnt so much from Donny, he spoke very highly of Tassy and brought a huge smile to his face. One of the best times of my life. ❤

G'day Garry. I met you a few times over here on King Is. Unloaded you a few times, and always wanted a job on a boat like yours. That aside, I just want to say how proud of you I am for you to put out all these videos. It's something I've always wanted to do, but felt I was a generation too late and also to busy to spend the time to dedicate sitting and chatting to get the tales. My years in aged care have shared many Tassie tales, especially of the King Island history. I'm always longing to know more from the past... to remember. so thank you Gaz for these uploads. They are to be cherished. I for one am downloading each and every one.

There’s those who fished N.W. Tassie and then there’s us who fished the Southern Ocean South of Hobart and lived to tell it on here!

Good 'Ol Bluey. This is all amazing... so wonderful to hear about diving before I was born. My grandad snorkled in Sicily for may years for urchin and octos. Taught me how to freedive in the pool when I was a wee lad. Like someone else here commented-- they don't make 'em like that anymore.

Those were the days. Is JC still going? in 2022. Still well known here in Eden.

Salute to this man and others like him!
Takes a brave soul to knowingly swim with white sharks lurking about!
