Shooting Landscapes with a Long Lens

- Landscape photography isn't all about shooting with wide angle lenses. I'm in Deadvlei in Namibia and in this video I photograph 2 landscapes and both with a Canon 100-400 lens. This allows me to isolate subjects within the landscape and pick out more varied compositions that I could using a wide lens.

Your videos are like therapy. We not only learn how to click better pictures, but also how to live the entire experience. Thank you!
I've only ever really shot landscapes with telephoto lenses, just love the compression, and makes it easier for me to isolate something interesting. Lovely photos as always
Thomas, I just want to thank you for sharing your process. I am a self taught amateur photographer and have learned a lot from your inspirational videos. I normally shoot wildlife but have recently started exploring landscapes and I’m loving it. Your work is amazing and I’m always looking forward to seeing more from you.
When you first wlked up on the group of trees. All I saw was a Salvador Dali landscape. What a great contrast in that shot.
Kinda doubt this'll make it to you, but I think you missed a killer composition at around
Did anyone else hit pause on the video and attempt to visualize how you would compose the shot in your head or just me? HA! I always wanted to go on safari for the wildlife, but now I need to roll down some of those sand dunes. Great work!
The sense of adventure I get from your videos is astonishing. Your photography and your thoughts are deliberate and helpful. Thank you for putting all the work into these.
Simplicity at it's finest! Stunning! <3
Those would be images of a lifetime for me...So good!
Yay! some colour photography to show the beautiful colours of Namibia!
This has been a great series. It's been very relaxing to watch. There looks to be some lovely peaceful scenery over there.
Thomas, it has been a privilege to be following you for a fair bit of time and have watched and re-watched many of your vlogs. The Namibia series really has been epic and each week you put up images that engenders such emotion. I certainly see why this has been on your bucket list....Thank You taking us with you

Cracking video as always - Love my long lens for landscape work as well as wildlife!
Gorgeous compositions. The Black and white photo was absolutely stunnin. You are a great inspiration to all of us. Thank you sir
I'm a bit lost for words. That landscape, place, just.. out of this world. I love it. Might be my favourite place that I've seen from your channel. And you travel a lot. Fantastic image as well. Captured the mood completly. Thank you for sharing your passion Thomas!
Thank you Thomas for a wonderful finish to Sunday afternoon. Beautiful images!
Love the tree shot Thomas. The old country saying, " Making a silk purse out of a pigs ear" comes to mind. You really made something out of nothing there. Brilliant.
Thomas your images are amazing, and this one just took my breath away. I love the texture. Thank you for sharing!
