  • Choosing the right mate to do life with is the most pivotal decision one can make. Marriage comes with many challenges and having a “Purpose Partner” along that journey makes the ride that much rewarding. Karega and Felicia Bailey captured the nation’s heart when they transparently shared the grief of giving birth to an angel baby on their episode of “Black Love Doc.” Listen to them share what makes their love so powerful.

I don't like to idolize relationships because you don't know what people go through behind closed doors. But when I watched the black love episode, I said I want my future husband to love me like that.

The moment he started talking, I knew he was a poet. This is what it looks like when two people are whole and seek God's guidance. Many people want that level of love but don't want to put forth the effort to be that for each other. I feel their faith and love. Scripture instructs the husband to love his wife even as Christ also loved the church and the wife to reverence her husband. I don't believe in saying couple/relationship goals either but I truly believe that the Baileys are striving to honor Christ with their marriage. This is so beautiful to see. Thank you Laterras for this.

I think most women have been taught to not acknowledge or realize that men can and have endured abusive childhoods, toxic romantic relationships, and everything that a woman can and do endure, and then some. None of us was taught how to love, communicate, forgive, and so on and so forth accurately and effectively. And that is where the issues lied. Prayerfully with all the information the Lord is allowing us to receive at the present time will enable us to be better in every area of our lives in Jesus name. Amen and Amen.

I mean it is because people don't seek Christ prior to dating or marriage. And most people haven't given themselves over to God in order to receive this type of relationships. They rather settle, and they rather rely on the coping and defense mechanisms that they have used in the past. But it don't serve them well at all. And they settle for putting on a strong like they are in a healthy and successful marriage.

I have been checking and refreshing the Dear Future Wifey Podcast page, waiting for the next podcast.
Thank you for having them on. They made me cry when they were on Black Love. So many nuggets... They are really close to each other, and I was very impressed by how highly emotionally intelligent the husband is, and by how well he reads his wife. I am 51 years old. I have never been married, and I don't have children. I have worked with children my whole life. When I think of my future husband, if and when I get married, one of the qualities I want in my future husband is high emotional intelligence, and someone who is affectionate (appropriately so in public). And to me, Karega is such an example.
He gave me a lot of food for thought, when he talked about his experience as a Black husband, and as a Black father who needed to express his pain, his anguish, and his grief, when they lost their child. He didn't feel safe to do it in the newborns room, less he be seen as scary. A friend took him outside, and kept watch, so he could express some of his emotions. My parents lost two children when I was a child, and a teenager. As Black people, I had not thought of that aspect. I cried during their whole episode.
Their After Love episode was just as good. The hosts were so moved, the husband personally edited that episode, and they were the only couple featured, rightly so. It was a very powerful and moving episode. Thank you for having them on. I just love how highly emotionally intelligent they both are, and how close they are to each other.
I love how much they respect each other, and how they seem to be people of service. Service to each other, and service (and help) to those who have experienced their pain, and a voice for the Black experience. More power to them, and may God continue to bless them, and heal them.

      @sylvietapos807 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

@@DearFutureWifey, thank you so much for your response. It is your second time doing so, to one of my comments. I appreciate it.
Yes, it probably helps that they have those degrees. Mine is in Communications and Foreign Languages (I speak four different languages fluently). So I had classes in Interpersonal Communications, and I understand what you are saying.
I am 19 minutes into the episode, and I TOTALLY agree with you: I do NOT want to get married either IF I cannot have the kind of intimacy they have, the way he covers her, and protects her. The way she trusts him, and is vulnerable in his presence. I SO appreciated how vulnerable they were in Black Love, I didn't feel as though I was watching soft porn, I was grateful I could witness two Black people love and understand each other SO WELL!!!! Experiences and couples like them encourage me to keep on working on myself, and to keep on saving myself for that special someone, if I am blessed enough to meet him one day.
Laterras, I appreciate that you are a highly emotional intelligent man as well. It shows in your interactions with your guests, and how you approach them.
I remember an episode where the fiancée reached for her fiancé's hand, as she was talking about her relationship with her dad. You caught on that, ans so did her fiancé. You asked her about it, and at first she didn't address it, however her fiancé gently encouraged her to do so, and she did. It turned out that you had read her well. So you are one of those men as well, or you are definitely on your way there.
Thank you again so much for having them on, and for being so transparent with your life, and with your podcast. I will be sharing this episode with my friends and family again.

A love with God as the foundation can stand through any storm. It will have its rocky moments, but it will survive the storm. Laterras, your love for God is also very evident! Keep trusting Him and you will meet the person too! Marriage isn't settling down, it's setting up to build up!! Security is what I'm looking for. I will bury myself in my husband. I'm longing for that.❤

That song in the key of 'G' was amazing. I went back to watch the video over and over again. it was absolutely beautiful as they are. Lateras, when you began to prophesy to him, I was so in agreement with you, I went in, in my house. They will give birth again, in the Father's timing.

This episode had me in tears in the beginning. Out of all the episodes you’ve aired thus far, this one (to me) speaks the language of Gods love. That 1Corinthians 13:4-13 type of love. This was great Laterras. I can’t wait to watch their Black Love episode.

I’m finding it hard to articulate exactly the impact this conversation has made on me but I have to say this...After tuning in to this episode my takeaway is one truly surrendering to the fact that God is sovereign over everything we could ever think experience or imagine. I have but one word to describe this couple’s authenticity, and layers of deep transparency and intimacy to each other and the Creator... the word is LOVE at the highest level. Period. Thank you thank you 🙏

I paused this and went to watch my very first episode of Black Love. (Whew.. my my) To get to “practice love” of this caliber is a blessing and indeed goals. I don’t think I’ve ever paused to pray for my future husband and for my ability to answer the call as his wife. This was deep. MORE LOVE to the Bailey’s. This is what authentic love looks like. Yes, Karega! Real over romance 🖤 SN: my autocorrect changed his name to mine, Karena. Dope couple 🙏🏾💪🏾 You did it again 🙌🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Watched this couple on Black Love channel. I admire the love they have for each other & the level of emotional intelligence that they have. Such an inspiration and motivation. Lesson from this episode: Let love lead in every situation, God is love and if we can understand that, then we can conquer every situation regardless of how painful and hurtful it maybe. God bless !

I have always enjoyed your podcast but this is my favorite thus far. I watched the Bailey’s on the Black Love’s episode “Stand by me” when it was first uploaded on FB. And like you I boo hooed 😭 watching and hearing their story. Thank you for bringing them on and having them share more with us. They have such a huge ministry and anointing. The hand of God is on them to speak life and the love of God to a lost, grieving and dying world. It is an honor to witness their humble beginnings.
May God catapult you, Laterras, to new/higher heights as you continue on this journey of finding your wifey!

Loved the podcast and your manifestation brought me to tears but they were full of hope, that God has someone who will protect me, my feelings, my heart, my opinion and truly see me as I fully bury myself in him. I have got to watch that Black love episode.

Karega & Felicia’s Black Love was so powerful, but this podcast episode is beyond anything I could say. Their love bears witness to marriage: service, surrender, security, healing, protection, provision...I could go on. When Karega spoke on Radical Gentleness for our black men was so moving. Laterras, your letter to your future wifey on security was so authentic & LIT! WONDERFUL!

Yes Laterras, I also viewed that episode of Black Love. I felt the power of their unity and strength. The intentional dedication Karega and Felicia had towards each other. Her feminine submission to him and his Godly covering of her. She was safe and he was present. Your studio transformed into a cocoon tonight. We all came out transformed and more stunningly beautiful.
