    Dear black men- when you date outside your race, do so with love and without insulting and degrading black women. I think this is a lovely couple and I'm happy that he has the foresight and self love to find a woman that works for him without being disrespectful to the women who look like his mother. I wish this couple all the happiness, and love in the world.

    First thing: I rock with them. Their relationship is built on a foundation of mutual love, respect, transparency, and honesty with themselves, one another, and God. It doesn’t get much better than that. I LOVE that they decided to have hard conversations early. It has set a precedent in their relationship. From now on it will be their “ normal “.
    Second thing: I have ALWAYS wanted a Black man, but in my forties I opened my mind to men of other ethnicities.
    I told God: I really want a Black man, but if You have a man of another color for me, I’m open, and I would never want to block my blessing. That’s been a few years ago. Still single.😆😆😆😆. But I’m open to the Husband God has for me regardless of his ethnicity.

    I love how transparent Laterras is because I was triggered when I saw the couple but because I am open minded and don’t judge I decided to watch and so far so good. Although I do love to see black families being built up. I can appreciate how he talked about his nieces and him not tearing one race of woman down to build another up.
    Congratulations to them and may God bless their union 💕

    The question is.. "How does his marriage effect your life?"
    I think black women get upset because they feel rejected. But that man or any man's choice has absolutely nothing to do with you or your worth as a woman, especially as a black woman

  • @tasheema

    When I first seen who was apart of this interview I was triggered. They really seem like a lovely couple and I'm happy they have found love as that is something I dream of having one day. With that said I was triggered because I'm an educated successful black woman most likely in similar social circles as Sekou yet I don't have access to men like Sekou. Its also triggering because as a black woman I am expected to provide child rearing support when the men in my life that partner with non black women realize the cultural gaps that impact their children. If I decline I am seen as bitter so I must smile and teach their wives how to cook, comb hair, and reinforce the beauty of their children when the white community rejects them...Its a lot which makes it very hard for me not to be triggered when I see couples like this.

      I can totally empathize by how you could be triggered however in your statement you said you do not have access to men like Sekou. That is not true what you speak into the world will be reflected back at you. So speak the man you want into the universe your spirit and God and he will definitely show up. Manifest this man and call him into your life. Positivity is the key, focus on your great thoughts about beautiful you. A guy with the great attributes of a Sekou can and will be yours!!

    • @jessicahenry2934
      @jessicahenry2934 2 ปีที่แล้ว +33

      This couple seems genuine so I wish them nothing but the best. However, I agree with this statement and appreciate your transparency. I am an accomplished woman myself and I too was triggered . Black men of this caliber typically don’t date within their race, and there’s a number of reasons why. The “stares” aren’t from jealously or bitterness, it’s a feeling of resentment and betrayal. Black women have been in the front lines supporting our men, even when they’ve turned their back on us it seems. We are the reason justice was served for George Floyd, and laws were passed for Breonna Taylor. Our “attitude” , strength and perseverance plays an integral role in the legacy of a black man. You’re right, black women will be the ones coaching her on how to care for her black child's hair, and how to cook for her man, but will reap no reward from it. We are tired of being used and left with nothing. Black women deserve more access to happy and healthy relationships.

      I emphatize in the fact that maybe you are not aware of who God is. So, I can understand why you speak that. Whether this man or woman was white, black, Hispanic etc, they explained that they did the work it required for them to meet. He explained that he loves her dearly because of her love for Christ. Don't try to validate yourself by your success, or what you have acquired because to have a successful marriage, God has to be the one leading you.

    Thank you for this episode! I went from being triggered to being delivered…Seeing black men with non-black women almost always feels like rejection mostly because of the narrative that usually comes along with it. I also feel that the rejection is felt deeper because some black women only see themselves with black men. If a black woman is herself open to diversity in dating, the sting of the rejection may be reduced. With all that said, I felt so cared for by Sekou when he spoke of his concern over how his nieces and the other women in his family would interpret his relationship. I felt so much love in this episode and am hopeful that I too will find love like Sekou and Mattie! Praying for you both and I will let love light the way🙏🏾💜…

    With these relationships, I tend to find the black Men especially, not liking who they are or thinking white is better, or wanting to go through the white door of opportunity (yes I have a lot of men friends and I'm married to a confident Black Man). My major concern is seeing the wealth transferred back into the white community. My professional soccer player friends told me, once they are traveling all that is presented to them are white women, other ethnicity and no black women, because these basketball , football industry, work with agencies that send these women to events, before they even reached their hotel or even know were they are staying. The Lord showed me my Nephew was dating a mix lady, before he even told me, bwoy the Lord warned me in that dream, so I had to hold a compassionate heart towards this situation. However these things are deeper than us. Once you have money, these women will hardly leave, lets be honest.

    I’ve discovered that Blk men who pursue white woman are not appealing to me at all. I can be friends with them but nothing beyond that. I’ve tried to build a relationship with a few blk men with white women preferences and there’s always a disconnect. We’re just too different! So I’m happy those type of blk men can find love within their preference. I just wish they wouldn’t experiment with trying to date blk women and wasting our time.

      Lol as a black college athlete. A lot of my teammates are into white women. I think a lot of it has to do with the environment they was raised in. I was raised in a predominately black and Hispanic environment so my dating preference always were a women that look like me. My teammates grew up in white areas and they like white girls. There is a big cultural difference between the two. I think that’s why I struggle to get along with them because we have different interest.

    I will say, it is easier for a white woman to bring that peace and quietness when she has never experienced or understands the many challenges and the environment many black women and men have to endure. Unfortunately, we as women and a race are not given that luxury or privilege.

      Her walking around as a pretty blond white woman affords her an experience black women will never have. If you’re going to open this conversation we have to have it genuinely. White privilege is a thing and black women generally have more challenges and obstacles as white women that shapes most of us differently. Heck seeing “our” men often choosing someone like her over someone like us is something we have to process and work through. If nothing else I know she has and will never deal with that…

    Unpopular opinion: it literally hurts heart when black men say, “she brings me peace” when dating/marrying non-black women. Of course she brings you peace.
    She’s not a black woman whom was raped by a slave master and bare his offspring; worked 2-3 jobs to feed her kids because the deadbeat dad left her; called ugly because of the color of her skin(too dark); whom life doesn’t matter in white America; have to pray everyday that your black son/daughter don’t get shoot by a cop; and looked down own by a black men. So of course a non-white woman bring black men peace. They use black women up until they become successful then go give it to a WHITE soul cyclist instructor🤦🏾‍♀️ I could careless that a black man chase non-black women. But let’s be honest! Those same women wouldn’t dare want you if you didn’t have a penny to offer. I’m just thankful that my husband’s parents taught him to love on black women. Cherish them because the world hates them. I’m thankful because I have a black husband that supports and believe in black love. Oh! And he definitely finds peace in me as I find peace in him…

    This is powerful. Kudos to her, for her honesty about her reactions within those tough conversations. I think in this day and age, we feel as if we have to pretend and process tough and difficult unprecedented situations immediately. Respond perfectly immediately. I love the fact that she allowed herself to be honest in not knowing, and that he was patient as she figured out her response as well. She wasn’t posing, and he gave so much grace as she navigated such a huge life reality for him. I appreciated their honesty and transparency!

    Latteras!!!! I went back and watched your podcasts of all the beautiful, successful, intelligent single black women and cried! I'm not looking for marriage because I'm 60 , but I do hurt for the young beautiful black women who have so much going for themselves, but are not chosen to be wives, especially by wealthy Black men! Black men are making black women baby mamma's and not wives. This is devastating our community. This podcast just demonstrate the lack of unavailable black men. In this podcast we see you Latteras,( single)and a black man with a white woman...two unavailable men! I'm not just venting to you but I'm asking God what he has against black women? Why so much hatred and disrespect from black men? What's going to happen to my beautiful successful, educated niece's? Will they be alone for the rest of their life?
    I need to unpack one more thing! You said your white assembly of God church family gave you their second hand clothes and shoes. How many of your white Christian friends marched in the street when George Floyd was murder? You know who was marching in protest....the women who are the least in the eyes of black men...black women!

      Why would you say I'm unavailable? I'm very much available.

    • @loveneisha
      @loveneisha 2 ปีที่แล้ว +33

      I know you asked this question of Latteras but I wanted to chime in. As a young childless, educated, unmarried black women I had to be real with myself about a lot of black men. A lot of them aren't equipped to be husbands, providers and shouldn't have the access to be fathers. The harsh reality for women like your nieces and myself is that we have to move away from being loyal to one group of men. Date who you want and don't ever let a man know he has your loyalty without giving anything in return. I feel like that's why some black men treat some black women so horribly because they know they'll be there marching for them and no other race of woman will. I've dated black men with various backgrounds and they all have the same mindset; what do you bring to the table, no gold diggers etc. I see all these channels on TH-cam telling black women how to get a "high value man" or nobody likes black women; not much on teaching these men much of anything. Except for how to sleep with a lot of women. I figured why that is. There are always droves of black women ready to show their undying loyalty to men who could care less. They going to date outside their race anyway because black women are too strong, aggressive and combative. And any other word they can think of to attack with. Are there available black men who are ready to be husbands, protectors, providers etc, I'm sure. But I hope black women don't sit around waiting for one. I hope black women stop being bothered or upset when they see black men dating other women. I use to be disappointed in the past, but for what! To any single black women that might read this do what's best for YOU.

      Laney, sis, I totally understand your comment & perspective until 😵‍💫 the, “I’m not venting…” You are venting & that is OK! I do think you should look for the heart and sincerity in their exchange with one another, us as the audience, and Laterras as the host. You’ve got to process your hurt & anger with God and in a professional setting.

    • @loveneisha
      @loveneisha 2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      @@brittanymillner I feel like you gave good advice but you didn't understand her perspective. The original comment had 10% out of 100% to do with the couple in the video. The other 90% I feel was disappointment and frustration with the majority of the black community. She didn't say she wasn't venting; she said I'm not only venting to Latteras but God as well. Unfortunately I see a lot of black women express the same grievances all over TH-cam and Instagram due to interracial couples and them holding onto the idea of not getting their black love fairytale.

    I have absolutely no problem with black men choosing other races of women. I don’t think they owe black women anything nor vice versa ( ie black women should reconsider their loyalty). But I do have a problem with them being disingenuous with black women. I would have been fine if he said he chose a white woman and saw no issue with doing so - the implications never crossed his mind. But to acknowledge that he knew full well that his decision would, unfortunately, have an impact and contribute to one of the problems plaguing the black community, yet he chose her anyway perturbs me. That means he either deliberately foresaked black women for her (based him admitting that he understood the impact), or the story of his nieces and aunts and such is just something he made up after the fact to avoid being labeled. This is why black women stay on the hook. I wish black men would just come out and say whom they prefer so that black women can move on and stop looking crazy out here. He chose that white woman because that’s what he prefers. He should just say that (if anything) and keep that story about and the black women in his life who he apparently didn’t admire enough to want to build a family with someone like them. Sistas are out here devoting their lives to finding a “good black man” who for all her loyalty will fight his inner turmoil to the death to be with a white woman over a black woman. And, I think the only way black women will feel released from what they think is their assignment is if black men stop dangling the carrot if you have no intent to feed a black woman.

      @diaryofaselfmademillionaire 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@tbcreloaded7529 I don’t need to know him. I know what he said and I reacted to that. In any case, my comment is less about him and more about this behavior and how I believe black women need to take heed and move accordingly. I don’t know what you mean about reactions on another video. But to be clear about my reaction, I don’t care about who bm choose. What I care about is black women’s image. My problem is that the world sees that bm have no devotion to black women (evident by their actions) but bw fail to accept that truth because some bm string bw along. Bw are out here looking like we’re desperate and have no standards. That’s partially our fault for not loving ourselves more (I’m not in that category but I am a bw I’ll lump myself in). But it’s also bm fault for taking advantage. If bm prefer white and Hispanic women, great. Stop using bw for sex, stop making them single mothers, stop giving them stds, stop using them for a come up then dumping them when you make it. Stop pretending. Unfortunately, I know it’s not going to stop. People are going to get over if they can. So, I want black women to really listen when men like this speak. I want bw to get some standards and require reciprocity. I don’t think bw should give bm the time of day unless and until bm desire and devotion to loving (not just sleeping with) bw is strong enough for them to resist pretty blonds.

I also believe when you love,, physical, human n divine, it can truly be amazing. Great conversation n thank you for sharing your journey of love. God bless your parents n entire family members who have contributed in natruing you both. Both colours are beautiful, love has no colour.
