    when Bill said replace your coolant cap today (5$) espiecially 2006 and older, see his video on TH-cam, I did it that day.
    I will now get the real time diagnostic display, today.
    Thanks again Bill.

    Bill, you genius. I was about to drop a couple hundred on a delete kit. It never occurred to me to weld the cooler shut.
    Roll coal, buddy.

    Hello thank you for an awesome video of knowledge. I'm an auto mechanic that's work on gasoline engines for very long time. And now I got a hold of a 2007 diesel van. That I bought that was torn apart I am putting it back together. So after watching your video I was just thinking what would happen if I can restrict the exhaust that goes to the tube by 50% to maybe be at 80% I was still out of the exhaust gas to cool down the heads and combustion chamber just not so intense to cook the antifreeze. But I don't see any kis out there for restricting exhaust gas through the EGR probably a reason why. I would be really interested on your thoughts of restricting the exhaust gas through the EGR.

    It is a vital passage DO NOT BLOCK IT as it is the coolant for the oil cooler.

  • @powerstrokehelp
    @powerstrokehelp  11 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    It is better to have a good welding shop weld both ends of the cooler so that if the inside of the cooler goes bad then coolant is not fed into your air intake.

    Bill, I am thinking of welding in those freeze plugs like you suggested in the EGR cooler. I am wondering if there's a chance the cooler will get plugged from the additive package and sediment, and block off the coolant flow back to the degas bottle. Is this a redundant loop or a vital passage in the coolant system? Is there a way the coolant can bypass the EGR cooler completely?

    Thanks bill i will check it out. I also am leaning towards a boost leak somewhere. Was a really windy day the other day and i was heading into the wind and only building 9 psi....usually build like 15 with a strong wind (60km or more) and i only build about 5 or 6 driving when i used to build 10. Either its the crappy ford plastic cold side tubing has cracked or its the turbo cac boot. Thanks!

    Hi Bill, 05 f350 with bulletproof egr delete and arp studs. Got a edge insight for monitering and no tunes yet still stock. I was driving the truck today and when i was driving around the city my egt's were getting high even if i slowly came up to speed it would be about 870 F. Eot and ECT are usually 5 apart today they were both at 198 when this started to happen. I did change my coolant filter 2 days ago checked coolant was good but checked today and none was in degass bottle. but no leaks.

    Thanks for such a great video Bill! It really explains how the whole thing works - I have an '03 6.0L and I put the Bulletproof oil cooler/EGR cooler on it. What I found is that when I tow a trailer up a grade, my coolant temps remain low, but my oil temps get high (I backed out when it hit 250*. The fan clutch would kick on, but not soon enough to lower the oil temp. Would a heavy duty fan clutch help at all? Or is there a better option?

  • @EricRock89

    I am interested in buying a 2003-2007 6.0L powerstroke and had a question about welding the egr cooler. What is the minimum gauge and grade of stainless steel you would recommend using for this task? Also is it true that 2003-2005 powerstrokes would not require electronically turning off the egr valve while the 06 and 07 models would require a tuner to shut off the egr valve? Also would it still be advantageous to turn off the egr valve with a tuner in the earlier models if the cooler is blocked off in this manner? Thanks! Keep up the videos

    Cam sensor is a weak ink in the 7.3s. Ford claimed to have fixed the problem with a grey sensor but Id still have an extra one in my glove box.

    Regulated fuel return with an electric fuel pump will liven up the OBS trucks like right now. Check the forums there are several DIY vids and parts lists. Get that junk mechanical pump out of there and get some modern fule pressure going and you will be amazed with what she can do.

  • @powerstrokehelp
    @powerstrokehelp  11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You will get a code in a 06. Tuning is required. Bulletproof Diesel has excellent products. I think they are a bit overpriced for what you get.

  • @powerstrokehelp
    @powerstrokehelp  11 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The H&S is a great tuner but the tunes have too much timing and will damage the motor. We can supply a street tune card for $300.

  • @powerstrokehelp
    @powerstrokehelp  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    it is called 7.3L IDI (Indirect Injection). It uses a mechanical fuel pump. These are great engines but not very powerful. They are prone to leaking fuel around the return line orings on the injectors.

    i am also buying a turbo from BD diesel (TP38) 66mm compressor wheel and a 1.00 AR they also put in thrust bearing. is their any other better turbos out their? the stock turbo really lags when im towing 8000 pounds it has a lot of trouble getting up hills. I will be looking at doing those other fuel upgrades you mentioned. thanks for the help!

    quick question for ya Bill: for the lifetime bulletproofing process, if a customer wanted to use a different programmer/tuner from the get-go other than the edge you use (meaning the customer wanted you to install the other programmer/tuner) how would that affect the warranty and what difference in price would that make?

  • @powerstrokehelp
    @powerstrokehelp  11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You can tune that fan to come on at a lower EOT.

  • @powerstrokehelp
    @powerstrokehelp  11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    That is a waste of time until you get the fuel bottle neck straightened out. A turbo, any turbo is only as good as the fire pushing it. If the fuel is limited or restricted your fancy expensive turbo will not be working any where close to what it can do.

    Thank you for the video. I have a 2006 f250--6.0 I am considering doing an egr delete and looking at your suggestion on the video it makes a lot of sense to have it weld it. I agree with you that those rubber hoses are a pain.
    But I have one question for you. By welding the pipe on both ends and re-installing would I get a code? .
    What do you think of the bullet proof system for egr and oil coolers?
    Again , thank you for the videos they are great providers of free intelligent knowledge.

    My truck was studded before I got it. Is there a way to tell if it has the egr delete somehow other than tearing the engine apart?

  • @powerstrokehelp
    @powerstrokehelp  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Two schools of thought. If you put it in the drivers manifold as most folks do and you have an injector fail on the passenger bank, it will burn a hole in a piston and the gauge will never move. BUT if you put it just past the turbo in the down pipe you do not get as accurate a reading. So the debate continues or should we just have two gauges. One for each side. I have had a few trucks come in here with two gauges.

    How are you Bill i have a quick question for you do you know if it's common for the camshaft censer to just (GO) on the old 7.3L because we had to get one replaced on are 02 dump and it would continuously stall out as we drove it. Ya see i dont wont to deal with that again and we have a 1999 F350 long bed is it worth waiting on it or should i just replace it? Also is it thae same deal with all Powerstroke 7.3L? Thanks for your time hope to hear back.

    K thanks ya i know about that just was curious if you know why my temps would spike like that all of a sudden? is it normal for the 6.0 to do that once in a while? just seemed unusual since i was not towing anything and the temp was only 21 degree Celsius. Normal temps i see all the time is usually 750 ish and in the city eot is 197 and ect is 192. They just spiked all of a sudden and stayed up high. Thanks

    • @thenitroviper6149
      @thenitroviper6149 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. My uncle has this happen and as a result, he lost his engine. Didn't know it happened until the turbo blew apart and ruined his hood. The technician that did all the work said he found coolant in the oil and found burnt coolant residue on the pieces that were left of the turbo.

      Rennis Henry if you have oil in your coolant reservoir tank or find it in your coolant it's more than likely a bad oil cooler

      yes every 6.0 will have problems at some point in its life. If it runs fine an sounds fine then it should run ok for a while, but they are very problematic when they are stock I would bullet proof it asap. Studs,egr delete or bulletproof egr cooler, new fuel system (I would get a fass) and put rev x and injector cleaner in every now and then and you will never have a problem. (owner of a 2004 6.0 bullet proofed)
