These are the coolest people in the world. Saw them last night, and they were one of the best shows I have ever seen. Most energy, most music, most heart. This kind of music is worth paying for.
I am a polio survicor, since the age of 4 months, this song just broke my heart to pieces! You made feel again what is to be human and that is to feel the pain of the other and help him!!! God bless you!!!!

One of the greatest achievements is the 99.99% eradication of Polio in the world. Who would ever have believed that India would be declared Polio free (not a case in three years). Afghanistan and Pakistan are the only two countries left. Let us hope that the anti vaxers don't fuck it up for everyone though.....maybe the music of Benda Bilili will help. Thank you Rotary for starting the Polio Project and for the last 40 years of immunising children with the magic drops.

@swahili77 Are you advocating that people need not get vaccinated against polio??? I can't seem to make out your exact point. You seem to be referencing the "hygiene hypothesis," which has been most robustly corroborated by the study of polio. Children were not getting the disease (because conditions were cleaner) when they were getting maternal antibodies (ostensibly a partial vaccine) from breast-milk. The naive immune response of older children to the virus could then led to poliomyelitis.

I don't understand any Swahili, or whatever language this was that they sang in (I'm pretty sure it was not French on this song), but their message is a very important one -- vaccinate your children against polio. Good rhythm and musicality as well.

@swahili77 You use "adverse reactions" as a reason to justify not vaccinating? Unfortunately, the medical concept of "adverse reactions" is on a continuum of potential harm. If you understood this, you wouldn't frame your argument so naively. For ALL medical therapies, a substantial amount of work is done by medical professionals to identify and weigh potential harm of any treatment.
Your opinion is grossly uninformed, and most importantly, it is STUPENDOUSLY negligent to propagate.
