    I completely forgot to mention toiletry storage! We also try to keep 6 to 12 months worth of shampoo, bar soap, deodorant, toothpaste, extra toothbrushes, contact solution, shaving cream, and feminine products.

    If you don’t have liquid Benadryl on hand you should add it to your list! In an emergency situation for an allergic reaction it can be taken by children and adults because it gets into your system the fastest😊

      @DiddleyDay8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes! I am very allergic to wasps and my pcp told me to keep a bottle with me all summer. She said it works almost 4x faster so you can pause the reaction before it gets scary. MUST have.

    One thing I did to simplify and reduce costs is purchase wool dryer balls. I always hated using dryer sheets because they are so unhealthy, but had to use them in the winter time to keep static down. Now I never have to buy them and I use the dryer balls year around. Great video!!

    I love seeing other people’s food storage. I’m with you in that we’ve massively simplified ours. Years ago I stocked so many things that we just never ate and it was just wasteful. Simplifying also cuts back on the grocery budget as well. FYI Tartar sauce and yum yum sauce are super easy to make and so so good homemade! I also make our own ranch. Anyway, thank you for sharing. Would you mind sharing your mozzarella cheese recipe? This is something I’ve been wanting to try!

      Oh yes! I wish I could go back and NOT buy all of those dehydrated and freeze dried products! I mean, I know what I use and I have a lot of superfluous things, esp since I market garden and can!

    Arrowroot powder is much better for you than corn starch! I have switched to that, I got it off Amazon. Also trying to make my own dressings and condiments! We have no idea what we are eating sometimes😬I am hoping to do better. My daughter just bought me those cubes. Love them!

    You are such an inspiration. This is one of the best pantry tours i have ever watched because you explain how to simplify a pantry. Just last week there were 2 condiments i wanted but not something i would use a lot of and certainly wasn't willing to pay their prices so i googled copycat recipes and couldn't be happier. I make a lot of dressings from scratch and also make cream of chicken, mushroom, and shrimp then put them in containers and freeze them.

    Love the simplification of your pantry!
    Makes so much sense.
    Base/basic ingredients are best anyways!
    We love hot sauces & now just have bins of dried peppers for making them. Franks..our fav for flavor is just cayenne peppers!
    I made a big pot of Birria sauce yesterday & it's still on low this morning. My grown girls & grands just asked for more bottles.
    Dried peppers are so so easy to store & use, super cheap also..😊

    Traditional Medicinals has fabulous teas & I also love the brand Pukka but I’m not brewing more than a cup at a time. Just research brands that don’t use plastic bags, there are several out there. I use loose leaf teas as well but I buy from local shops. I haven’t heard bad things about avocado oil but Chosen is the brand I use & have heard it’s one of the best, if not the best. Olive oil is the one to be careful about, lots of them are not pure & are diluted with seed oils. You want to make sure it’s organic & the country where it’s produced is listed.

    The salt on just food consumption yes probably that long based on you being intentional. But, if you were preserving meat that would not last long. It doesn't go bad so I would overstock on salt. It is a good just in case

      I should’ve mentioned that we have quite a bit of regular, iodized salt in the pantry as well. If we ever needed to salt meat, that is likely what we would use for that purpose.☀️

    On the avocado oil issue i guess it depends on the brand of avocado oil that you purchase from what ive read i use only Chosen foods avocado oil and Bragg makes a great olive oil or jovial olive oil they are a little bit more expensive but we dont use tons of it either. Thanks for a great video

    Dr. William Li has a tea company that sells clean teas. For allergies if no medicine is available a multi food enzymes capsule helps to calm down the histamine and allergy cytokine reactions. If you can find the fifteen minute informercial about the multi food enzyme method by Nuzyme it explains why and how the enzymes work. The food enzymes also help for when a person doesn't have the necessary types of, gut flora to help digest foods that are not regularly consumed by that person. Traditional Medicinal or Yogi tea companies has a lot of natural remedy tea blends.

    How long does it take you to make pasta for spaghetti? Also, will you show yourself making mayonnaise? Pre-packaged foods are getting us. My kids love to take those type foods to school. They both eat at school but complain of the food. I offered to fix them a lunch but the idea of carrying one more thing is not what they want. They have lockers but not enough time to use them between classes. I cook from scratch at home but they just prefer the pre- packaged for school. They are crazy expensive. I did tell them that I will not buy more until ALL of the snacks are gone. There will be no buying more of a particular type when there are other snacks to finish too. I shop Costco and Sam’s. I hate Walmart and try to avoid it all cost.

      Probably an hour, start to finish. I’ll do a video on it soon. I know I’ve done one before but I think the pasta was just a small part of it.

    What about peanut butter and honey, honey butter carrots, honey for tea, etc.? Do you try to account for extras?

    • @Pursuit.of.Simplicity
      @Pursuit.of.Simplicity  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I definitely account for extras, but when I’m doing those type of calculations, I’m assuming we’ve had to strip down to the bare bones with our food so it may be peanut butter sandwiches without honey in order to have delicious bread to eat it on.😉

    I have noticed a big shift in our eating and storage over the last couple of years. My sons are out of graduate school and have great jobs in other states so they do not come home as frequently. I have many cans that are expiring and not sure where I could donate them? Any suggestions?

      I have a local non government food bank that takes expired food in my city. Perhaps see if you have local food banks that would take. Or do you have little free pantries in your town? Or even ask frugal friends. I've taken a bag of food from a friend because she was just going to throw it out.

    Can I ask how much laundry detergent do you use per load ? ❤

    • @Pursuit.of.Simplicity
      @Pursuit.of.Simplicity  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I use half of a cap full for a full load.

    • @itsallperfectlynormal9805
      @itsallperfectlynormal9805 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @Pursuit.of.Simplicity smart, I use a little less than that. Washer repair man once told me detergent companies WAY over estimate how much is needed per load and it's hard on your machine, your septic system if that's a concern, and your clothing to use as much as they recommend. Also, he said put detergents, and if you absolutely must use softener glue, get a dispenser ball. But all that should go in the drum. Detergent and softener reservoirs get nasty. If that is what you CAN see, imagine the parts you can't.

      @@Pursuit.of.Simplicity Ok...I have cut back and that is what I'm doing is half of cup/lid per load. Thank you for responding. ;) Happy New Year !! 🎉
