    Welcome to the innards of a wonderfully done soundtrack to a grotesquely beautiful NES game, Abadox: The Deadly Inner War! We have the fantastic Kiyohiro Sada bringing this Natsume soundtrack, which yes sounds a bit like Konami because of Sada formally working for them, with that he brings his compositional A-game to this often forgotten title, along with his own sound driver he created at Natsume for himself. Every track delivers an exciting yet intense feel of traveling inside a deadly planet monster to destroy it from the inside, all the Stage themes just ooze with personality, my favorite being Stage 3's "Deadly Forest of Blue Nerves", it brings that wonderful energy of don't give up even as things get tough! The Boss music also fittingly intense, and making even the most high pitched track of "Final Boss Clear" intentionally short (a mistake on the previous video mix as it went on for awhile). So gear up and dive into the goodness of this OST!
    Abadox is usually brought up for being graphically one of the best looking games with its setting, it is quite gross in the best way possible, and with that it actually brings up the other developers that were actually involved with this title, shockingly at least 3 names for such a small game. Natsume was of course the main developer being in charge of the Direction and Sound, whereas the Programming and Graphics were actually handled by I.T.L. (who you might best know as the developer of Bubble Bobble: Part 2 on NES), lastly Dynamic Planning who were in charge of the overall Production on this title. It's amazing that such a relatively small and short game had all these companies behind it, for what reason, not sure, but at least it still made this game stand out in the end. For a shoot'em up, it executes everything solidly as you'd expect, all aspects of this game are of good quality, exceeeeept for the difficult, as my only main complaint is when you die you lose all your power ups, and the last stage in particular is exceptionally difficult and even cheap, making it impossible to finish if you lose your power ups. But aside from that, its still a good game to check out if you haven't.
    Thanks for enjoying the awesome tunes, keep on listening to these better 8BS Revamps! Thank you Patrons for support on Patreon! www.patreon.com/nikotengoku / ko-fi.com/nikotengoku

    I can remember that this game was the first game advertisement I ever saw on TV.

      Pretty dope some people record/preserve those adverts so we can still experience them, must have been fun coming up with them back in the day.

      @@Nikos8BitStereo Yeah, I haven't seen the ad posted anywhere on youtube yet...but I can remember the voice of the advertiser. All gruff and and demonic saying "ABADOX...only on your Nintendo Entertainment Systeeemmmm!!"

    This game desperately needs a remake, or at least a spiritual successor.

      To think there isn't even any kind of spiritual successor by an indie developer, with all the retro inspired games, you'd think someone would make one to this game, can we inquiry an inspiring developer? :P

    I remember renting this as a kid because I loved the visual aesthetic from the tv commercial... and couldn't even beat the first level.

      Wow that commercial is wild, love seeing those for these older games. And well hopefully you went back eventually to get further, helps to know now there is also an invincibility cheat for the game, worth using to experience it! :)

      Certainly doesn't get talked about enough, Natsume and I.T.L. both deserve praise creating something unique for the console.

      No problem, its the hidden joys of such a console with so many titles, always the few that slip by for certain people, this one is certainly a banger!

    One can gain permanent invincibility by beating the game and letting it go back to the title without resetting... you keep it until you reset or turn the game off.
    Prior to beating the game, though? This is a lifesaver: A, A, Up, B, B, Down, A, B, Start. then pause and unpause at any point during the game, code stays in effect until you reset or turn the game off.

    • @Nikos8BitStereo
      @Nikos8BitStereo  6 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

      Essentially the best way to experience this game, which makes my theory of the last stage being ridiculously cheap being the reason the invincibility cheat exists, I can play pretty much perfectly until then.

      Ah yes everyone's favorite track. Well that is essentially just a SFX repeated over for that part, usually something like that I don't consider for these uploads and is more so a "track" to experience in-game.

  • @Chadius
    @Chadius 7 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

    Wow, I thought it was a Konami soundtrack, the composition style feels so familiar... Even the pause SFX is almost Konami.

    • @Nikos8BitStereo
      @Nikos8BitStereo  6 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

      Yup, Kiyohiro Sada (or when he was formally known as Kyouhei Sada) previously worked for Konami before jumping over to Natsume, no doubt what he learned at Konami he brought over to Natsume when developing his own Sound Driver and probably using the same library of samples for Drums.

      Yup, I've never beaten it properly without the invincibility cheat, I can play perfectly until the last stage, its so cheap with what can kill you.
