After years of admiring RGM, I recently visited and placed my order for a PS-801-EE. Now will patiently wait for 12 to 14 months for fulfilment. Beautiful craftmanship at work here.

What a great video Bruce! Fascinating! Thanks for sharing the RGM inside perspective with us. Eye opening.

Love it! Thanks! I own two RGM watches, and I can promise anyone considering one that these pieces are worth every penny. Yes, not cheap for us plebs, but you will be passing it down to the next generation. And I totally feel your “tangential pride:” with all our flaws, proud to be an American with this 801-model on my wrist!

I own one too; the 107 (one of the more affordable one) but it's great

I bought a Reference 300 series 1 dive watch from them in 2010.
I still have it. It’s outlived a lot of other watches. It’s eternal.

glad you got the tour. Didn't get that when I went there in June. stayed at the door, spoke to a gentleman, saw some of the watches, and got some postcards. their workspace is right inside when you go in.

They are a certified service center for alot of watch brands. I've had a few watches serviced there and I have to say they did run better than when I first got them after they came back from RGM. I had a nasty spill skiing broke the crystal on my Sinn 356. RGM fixed it and had it back to me in about a month.

Do you know if they work on vintage pieces? I have a 1930s Tavannes that needs work, I think it's a broken mainspring.

@morgan97475 they can work on anything I'm sure. They are a real old time watchmaker.

I'm a newbie to this hobby. 2 years ago I saw a video about RGM and was hooked. Some people have Rolex or AP as grail. For me it's an 801. Such craftsmanship only 3.5 hours from my house. Just need those numbers to hit🤣

I'm glad to see high-end watchmaking on our turf. As mentioned, we haven't seen American watch production take the lead since my uncle George invented the LED watch in the early 70's. The Pulsar years were pretty exciting indeed. But mechanical pieces are still the most interesting and RGM looks like a must-stop on my next trip northward.

This is getting scary. First, you purchased your (then) grail watch, the Vacheron Overseas 4500V blue dial. I'd had the identical watch for a number of months before that. NOW, you go and tour RGM. I purchased my RGM GMT-500 (RS Edition) a couple of years ago! If you go out and purchase a Porsche GT4, I'll be convinced that we were separated at birth.

RGM is a treasure for sure. I got to your their facility before Covid and it was tremendous. I also got to handle Rowland’s tubillion. I had the pleasure too also have him as a guide at the National Watch and Clock museum which isn’t far away. RGM ids also the designated repair facility for Sinn in the US. I wish you had been able to film one of the rose engines that he has working in his facility - really amazing. I will have a watch from there one day!

A great overview of the workings of RGM Bruce. That they not only produce incredible movements in house but breath new life into old USA Hamilton movements. It's great to see that the little beating hearts get a second chance in a new watch. Us mortals get to experience these movements that our lost relatives and the original watchmakers saw on release is quite a odd feeling. Thank you for sharing Bruce. I admit I'm an old fashioned mechanical nerd who still appreciates a quartz G-Shock amongst others.

  • @zionkid420
    @zionkid420 ปีที่แล้ว

Striping machines do striping, usually on the movement and internal components. Like when watches include Geneva Stripes. Guilloche on dials is patterned engraving done with engine turning machines.

I love what RGM are doing. If I had Warren Buffet money I'd start a USA Watch Company in a heart beat. It would take time. Watch-makers are not around every corner. But competent people can be trained from scratch. Please Power Ball!

So is most of there current range taking old pocket watch movements made by Hamilton, cleaning and timing them and then re-casing them. The old Hamilton movements are already decorated.
putting an old Hamilton pocket watch movement and then just re-casing it with your dial seems like it isn't worth the thousands they charge. I can get those old pocket watch movements pretty cheap all day long. Would rather see a Modified Unitas 6497 instead (skeletonize it or decorate it yourself). Hopefully they are just sourcing the old Hamilton movements and not taking them out of old pocket watch cases and throwing the case and dial away. lots of people collect pocket watches.
