Feeling so defeated:(i studied hard all week, stayed up until 4 am. Woke up at 7 and worked until 4. Created a practice test with. Did it. Checked my answers. Went back and analyzed what i did wrong. All for Step 1:(i think that i was just so tired by the end of it all that i just wanted to be done. I'm hopeful that i can bounce back but right now I just feel like crying 😢 😭💔💔🤕😓😔💔💔😓
I feel your frustration. The feeling of failing after putting in hours of work is heartbreaking. I go for step 1 2nd attempt next week. I'm scared as hell. But i will not let this test win. I know i am capable 😌 💯 🙂
Frustration is a very positive sign. It means that the solution to your problem is within range, but what you're currently doing isn't working, and you need to change your approach in order to achieve your goal.
Hi Divya! This was a great video! Im also doing the same thing that you are. Im from the "covid batch" and I extended my graduation to next year. Could you give more insight about rotations/electives in the US perhaps in the coming videos? Thank you!
Hi Divya! I love all your videos and I cannot believe that I only found you after I recently gave my step 2. I've binged watched all of them and firstly want to send a heartfelt congratulations. I am so happy for you and this para-social bond I have formed with you makes me feel like you're my sister. You've been an absolute lifesaver. I scored really good marks in step 2 and now I am considering applying to my dream college. I have research and volunteer experience and also a pretty strong CV based on my MBBS and precious academic performances. My concern right now is that my visa processing for applying for observerships might not be approved as the dates are booked completely. Are tele-rotations any good? Also, I am from Nepal and where I live is pretty crowded and the noise outside with the dogs barking and the children screaming is pretty distracting for any voice calls. It wouldn't be an ideal scenario for an interview, for sure. I would also like to ask if you have any suggestions on the mic that I could use to help with my situation? I love the voice quality of your mic and would like to know if it would be preferable in my situation. Thank you, Divya. I cannot thank you enough!! Love, from Nepal.
The NRMP survey shows that most applicants have about 1-2 research experiences and 2-3 publications/presentations. According to what I've learnt from speaking to my mentors, Research is important and good to have on your CV. Esp if you are an IMG.
It's never too early to start preparing for the Usmle, but try to enjoy learning medicine, getting used to med school, taking part in extra curriculars etc. Don't fret too much about building your cv/studying for the steps.
Hi, im also a IMG and was wondering how you got your observership/clerkship? Did you e-mail different hospitals? How did you find them? What did you e-mail them?
Thankyou soo much for the detailed video! I wanted to know how much does ICMR project in india matter in the CV. Because a few people have told they don't consider Indian research good.
ICMR is a well know central funded project and it is one of the best research projects you can do as a medical student in India. So it definitely holds value. Once you have an opportunity to do a research project with international affiliations that would be great too. But any research counts.
How did you do observer-ship during 3rd year? Can you please tell more about research electives or observer ship during medical school before internship?
Hey, is there any kind of FB group or what's app group I can join? My college doesn't have a lot of folks trying for USMLE - I'm trying to get in touch with more folks who are doing the same journey. I have just one friend who is doing the same, cant seem to find more folks easily
Its best to get in contact with people who have gone through it and ask them instead of just seeing reviews on their website. Some groups I can vouch for are The Match Guy, Match a Resident, USMLE Sarthi, Brooklyn USCE.
I think the extension process will work then too. You would have to take the exam (NEXT) in order to graduate according to the Indian Medical system, but I guess you will be able to take it at a later year.
@@DivyaSharma_KeepingitReal Okk. Will NEXT 1 be valid until next year if we take break in internship and then take NEXT 2 after a long gap? Please let me know.
hey divya, here's a fresh graduate from India..so sadly i didnt get to do either observship or clerkship back when i was studying because for 1) i wasnt really sure about usmle and didnt make attempts to go about it. 2) prolly i was just lazy and procrastinating and enjoying my med school to its best..lol so my question for now, is that a problem when it comes to application, for now ive cleared step 1? like what role do they play?
Love your video I'm currently a clinical student in indonesia. I just wanna know, is worth it study in America? Is it worth it to become a doctor in there? I will be extremely happy if you could help me to answer. Because i'm depressed to see my country treating doctors here. i want to move there if its worth the penny Thank you very much

The Usmle steps are very difficult and frustrating to pass, I've always believed usmle is not all about studying, you need God's grace to pass
People keep talking about Richard all over TH-cam, he must be a very awesome help.

Hi, im also a IMG and was wondering how you got your observership/clerkship? Did you e-mail different hospitals? How did you find them? What did you e-mail them?
I looked up their websites and applied directly. Most programs have an application portal.
Great video,
Did you do any elective?
Please let me know.
Yes I did three months of clinical rotations in the US.
Great video,
how many months prior one has to apply for observership?
Clerkships is different from observerships. Its better to do a clerkship. Apply at least 6 months prior to start date.

is it advisable to go through the different agencies which are helping students in steps and research (like Astute , moksh ...etc.)?

Hello ! What did you do between the time you applied for electives ( August 2021 ) till this January ? Did you resume your internship ?
Internship, research, spent time with my family and studied for usmle step 2 CK.
Also how many publications should we have before going for the match
There's no definitive answer. As many as you can, but the minimum safe bet would be 1.
