Keep in mind that trying to succesfully fold past 10 layers means you somehow have to fold over 1000 layers of paper without tearing them, you have to stretch them so it actually fold but its very easy to stretch them too far and tear them

When you fold the paper on half it's gets thicker 2 times, when you fold it again it's 4 times thicker, then 8, 16, 32 and so one. When you fold it 10 times it's 512 thicker. If you have 2 times thinner paper you can fold it one more time having the same thickness at the end. 2 dimension layer of graphene has 0,000 000 335 mm thicknes so you propably can fold it 23 times until it reaches 1,4cm of thickness. The smallest distance according to physicist is Planck constant (0, 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 6m ) and it's the resolution of our space. If you have something that is this thick you can fold it 106 times until it reaches something about 1cm thickness

I think they are pretty relevant because Hydraulic Presses are commonly used for forging, clinching, moulding, blanking, punching, deep drawing, and metal forming operations. The hydraulic press is advantageous in manufacturing, it gives the ability to create more intricate shapes and can be economical with materials.
Very interesting video but I am not convinced by two facts: 1) you need a continous gigantic piece of paper and not different papers glued together, as those parts are actually weaker and because of the symmetry, it's where you fold the first 4, 5 times 2) the paper after the 7th folding is not very well folded, as the edges get apart when removing force on the hydraulic press. So actually you feel the strenght of paper only in part of the sheet. The problem of folding paper 7 times is that the thickness after 7 bends is 2^7=128 sheets of paper and it is hard to fold 128 small sheets of paper. Next fold makes thickness 2^8=256, next is 512, next 1024... With this machine paper thickness is not constant so you can go futher than 7 times :)
Actually, you can't fold paper more than 7 times coz, everytime you fold it the thickness of the paper doubles, with 1st fold the thickness becomes fork 1mm to 2mm then 4mm, 8mm,1.6cm,3.2cm and going on, folding it 42 times make it as high as moon

@@poopyfarts6010 To fold a paper 12 times you'd need an extraordinarily thin paper with huge surface area. If we're talking about a standardized 8.5" by 11" piece of letter paper, it is physically impossible to fold it more than 7 times without extreme force (far more than what a human can output) and permanently compromising the structural integrity of the paper, to an extent where it may no longer be considered paper.
@@poopyfarts6010 The paper used to achieve the record was 0.033 inches (~0.8 mm) thick and 4000 feet (.75 miles/1.2 km) long (~4,360 times longer than normal paper). Unless you happen to have over 13 football fields' worth of paper, and a place to fold it, this can't be replicated.
@@distraction2803 Even normal A3 or A2 size paper (if thin enough) can be folded 8 times. I didn't say anything wrong. Its just that some people say things like "impossible", "a law of physics", etc. but they don't really know what they are talking about.

The problem of folding paper 7 times is that the thickness after 7 bends is 2^7=128 sheets of paper and it is hard to fold 128 small sheets of paper. Next fold makes thickness 2^8=256, next is 512, next 1024... With this machine paper thickness is not constant so you can go futher than 7 times :)

Actually, you can't fold paper more than 7 times coz, everytime you fold it the thickness of the paper doubles, with 1st fold the thickness becomes fork 1mm to 2mm then 4mm, 8mm,1.6cm,3.2cm and going on, folding it 42 times make it as high as moon
Paper is a lot thinner than 1 mm you know that right

Excellent experiment. Having press is rather helpful. But would the nail be classed as an unfair advantage, as it reduces the thickness of paper to gain the next fold? Just a thought. Still fun to have a go at. Well done. Now where’s my printer and hydraulic press………….
