Billy, that bit of waste land that you was on, is actually the old Piggery,s, which I believe got flattened during the 70,s,, and during the 80,s when I was 11-15 years old, I used to ride my Motor Bike on there, along with all the other kid's who had Motor Bikes, and one of them was Gary Rothwell who was my mate, started out on there, and ended up being a Professional Stunt Rider.......
And you being stood there in that field, brought it all back for me.....

Used to ride motocross bikes on the Piggeries, and the farmers fields. Very hilly, great for jumps. If farmer had caught us, not sure what he would of done. Damage was immense.
In the eighties there used to be pitched fights in Rimrose Valley between Crosby/Thornton kids and Pendle kids. Got caught once and dragged into estate, got away and had to run for my life across the fields. Pendle seemed an evil place for a Thornton/Crosby kid. Even though Thornton, at the time, was a really rough place too. Pendle was worse.
If you had said RImrose Valley would be a country park at the time, we would of laughed. Pendle does not seem to of changed, although most of the areas around it have.

Sefton is a completely artificial and weird council area. It's areas of North Liverpool in the south of the borough combined with areas of Lancashire in the north. It doesn't work. The council is split between north and south. The Liverpool part of the council don't get on with the Lancashire part. It's mad that Sefton council still exists. It was one of those crazy experiments they did in the 1970's.

I think you’ve tried to make Pendle look like an urban ghetto and It’s not waste land mate - it’s Rimrose Valley Country Park.
If you want to get a feel for the area - go for a walk on Rimrose, go down the canal and maybe have a pint in the cookies on the canal bank side. That’s what it’s all about.

I was put there years ago on tag after early release from the big house. 21 bowland drive. It was fucking horrendous and I grew up on the ford in Birkenhead during the smack epidemic. That was over 20 years back. And it was bad. I see nothing has changed.

Me Nan lived on Bowland drive for decades. Its well quieter than it used to be now, don't get as many of the little rats hanging round the shops all night. Haven't personally had any trouble there for 10 years
