Why Everton's New Owners Could RELEGATE The Club | Explained

- After months of speculation, Everton are finally on the brink of having new owners. Farhad Moshiri’s disastrous time at the club is coming to an end, with the Miami based investment firm 777 Partners set to take his place. The deal will see 777 acquire Moshiri’s entire 94.1% stake for a reported £550m, although they still need to pass the Premier Leagues stringent owners and directors tests and provide various other assurances before the takeover is rubber stamped.
With Moshiri gone, Everton can ignite the process of restoring their battered reputation. But new owners are no guarantee of success, and the Toffee’s have plenty to worry about before they can rely on 777. A recent 3-1 victory away to Brentford disguised the fact Sean Dyche’s outfit look set for yet another battle against relegation - a feeling they have become all too familiar with.
777 may not have all the answers to rescue Everton either. Their track record with clubs under their control is mixed to say the least, and now they are set to take on their biggest challenge to date.
So what are the problems Everton’s prospective owners are inheriting? And do they really have what it takes to finally stabilise the blue side of Liverpool? Let’s find out in our latest Football Daily Explained.

It would hardly be the *new* owners fault if Everton go down!
If they fire Sean Dyche if they survive this year and send you to League One, yes it will be
Yes it will the owners have relegated every other club they own
@@user-sb7rw7fq8b incorrect, 2 of the clubs they own are still in the top league and the other one they have a minority share in also stayed in the top league in Portugal
It will be if 77 Partners can’t score 20 goals this season
Everton are shocking…losing to Luton just proves they might already be doomed! How would that be any new owners fault again?
Straight up sounds like a disaster being owned by 777. Here in Australia Melbourne Victory are a joke of a club too. Used to be a power house before Melbourne City (yep City Football Group owned) took reigns. Good explanation video FD
The issue with 777 is clear because many clubs have struggled with them however the one praise I will give them is with Genoa because they took Genoa mid season in 2021/2022 season then got themselves relegated and they took Genoa up to Serie A in one season from the Serie B and they could have enough to stay up this year so gotta give them credit for that. I suppose there’s no choice either because from what reports are saying, the club’s in a mess and may have to sell players to pay off debts if 777 don’t come in plus 777 loaned the club 100 mil so there’s no choice now
"Premier League's stringent directors and owners test?" this must be a joke given Todd Boehly and the Saudi PIF recently passed this test, right?
Stringent for certain persons
Stringent about ensuring you're rich enough i guess
Only if you refuse to pay your way out of it
Todd Boehly (or rather his consortium) & the PIF both had the money & required experts to run something like a Football Club. The same cannot be said for 777 partners however.
Btw, Vasco Da Game is not relegated but it's close to being relegated, 777 bought it last year when the club was in the second division, now the club is in the first but 777 have not invested a lot of money and Vasco is close to being relegated again.
Everton could be fucked by 777 in the long run, hell even in the short run it could be a bad idea.
They're screwed without them anyway as things stand.
I think the multi club model is an excellent method to circumvent FFP, as long as you are at the top of the food chain for the owners (which Everton will be). The model creates a safe haven to loan players and get them minutes in lesser leagues while still ensuring their individual development is optimized.
We haven't seen it used to its full power yet, but I also envision a future where Genoa buys an elite talent (if their books could carry the transfer fees), then loans to Everton until its financially possible for them to buy. This allows one club to stay competitive while navigating FFP, and moves players on quickly enough to not impact Genoa's books.
The players plays a part as well
No Shit Sherlock
Very interesting
Can I get a count of how many times Henry said 777
Everton will beat luton at home, 3 wins in their last 3 games. They'll be fine. (Especially with DCL scoring again)
Beto looks good so far as well I don’t think they’ll go down tbh
You where saying 😂😂😂😂😂
This aged like milk
As a Chelsea fan
Everton we look forward to playing you next season 😂
Going to be pedantic here but saying that tests need to be passed before the takeover is rubber stamped makes no sense. Rubber stamping means to approve something without looking at it
We've nearly been relegated with the current owner, so let's wait and see, they haven't taken over yet and might not, so calm down everyone.
Please let this happen!!
Deal is not done yet
would think Everton is going down this time, and that's without new owners.
Stringent did you say?
We haven’t got new owners yet people thinks it’s a done deal going to take till next year dopies
Clubs desperately seeking a new owner is a little pathetic tbh. Financing themselves is not an option.
It's a bit like workers demanding a raise so they don't have to quit their cocaine addiction.
I hope Everton's new owers do not relegate the club bc that would be a bloddy shame if the club do go down
With any luck
Liverpool!
They can't get relegated this season with effective structure on place in Everton.
They lost to Luton town. They are going down this season.
OK. But where is the fairness , I am doubting whether I am a leeds fan now as they care not as a club but just a business. . Take Everton if they do get RELIGATED then as I understand it , Man City have worse charges over a longer period so it should be thus Everton lose 20 pts in total, then Man City have 4 times worse in trouble that equates to either - 80 pts this season deducted or - 80 pts next season or just relegate them at end of season , it was done with Glasgow Rangers but they went down 2 divisions , and juventus , YOU CAN NOT HAVE TOP CLUBS ONE RULE BOTTOM CLUBS ANOTHER . BUT HEY THAT IS HOW THIS COUNTRY WORKS .IF ITS WRONG TAKE THE LOWEST PEOPLE AND PUNISH THEM AND RICH A SMACK ON THE ARSE , ALSO all clubs players should no questions asked have in any and all contracts 20% of the wages go to NHS well they use it the most per individual no matter the injury or how much they are paid the body does not say I am on 50 grand a week so heal quicker . To my knowledge that's not how it works .
I hope they get relagated
Another club that stands as an argument for 50+1
So the same club can win the league everytime like in the bundesliga?
Another crap site dissing Everton ....jumping on rumour mills do one ...nobody knows what is or has really gone on ...ffp ...city have spent over 650 million on defenders alone since pep as been there Chelsea just spent a billion in 12 months ...Everton have not spent spent 700 million it's more like 475 which works out around 55 million a year over 8 years .. like I said Chelsea spent a billion in a year
FSG should have launched a bid for Everton FC themselves (& combine the club with Liverpool FC). Especially when besides being a club with very little purpose in 2023, the Liverpool Metropolitan Area cannot really sustain anything more than One World-Class Football Club and it would take Liverpool FC to the next level.
Get brought, get relegated, get into financial issues, get relegated again, go bust within 5 years ...
Inshallah, please please please
neecastle fan here. everton is a small club with horrible fans. hope they relegated.
Newcastle Everton both ass
They dont have horrible fans why you commenth than newcastl loser 😂😂😂
Small club with more trophies than ur club.shusshhhhhhhhh now child.
You must be a new horse puncher have you grown your 6th finger yet. newcastle fans calling other fans Horrible LOL at that one. Also Newcastle fans stop trying to force a rivalry with Everton you are a nothing club always have been always will be now go crawl back into bed with your mum
They have far more trophies and history than Newcastle (Who will probably get grouped in the Champions League).
As a neutral, please go down Everton!!! You’re our only hope of not having all 3 newly-promoted go down!!! Also, it would be interesting to see Everton in the Championship!!!
“Stringent owners and directors test”? 😂 Yeah as if that’s ever mattered
Yap yap yap not another kopite journo
