    Disclaimer
    1. Gross list be warned this is DISTURBING. Do not for me, yall know what you're getting yourself into. There's a reason my videos say disturbing.
    2. The films are about grotesque gore and less about disturbing gory moments. Although there is overlap! Films like Audition (1999) which have a lot of gore only show it towards the end, I wanted to pick films where gore wasn’t just the reveal. Tusk was also in this camp, the reveal is so special I didn’t want to spoil it. yall know I love that film!
    3. I tried to go in order but it’s very subjective and I didn't have time to count gore vs minutes.. But the list has the more hardcore stuff at the end.
A lot of french films fall into this category. I have a complete list of french extremity so I only tried to add a few, but they are a HUGE influence in modern gore.
    4. And of course, I picked 20 because it's a nice rounded number, what I love about Horror is there’s always more where that came from ;)
    Movies mentioned:
    1. Society (1989)
    2. Eat (2014)
    3. Raw (2016)
    4. In My Skin (2002)
    5. Dead Alive / Braindead (1992)
    6. The Special (2020)
    7. Inside (2007)
    8. Hostel (2005)
    9. Tokyo Gore Police (2008)
    10. High Tension (2003)
    11. Evil Dead (2013)
    12. Guinea Pig (film series)
    13. Terrifier 2 (2022)
    14. The Human Centipede (Film Series)
    15. Martyrs (2008)
    16. Cannibal Holocaust (1980)
    17. The Sadness (2021)
    18. Ichi the Killer (2001)

I have watched half of the list (10/20), but as I got older I also got more sensitive with gruesome scenes. Still love a good splatter though, a couple of weeks ago I went alone to the movies to watch Terrifier 2 because my partner refused to come along... and I am 7 months pregnant! It was a lot of fun, Art is the king!! Still think Martyrs is the best on the list, it's one of my favourite horror movies of all time. Great video, as always!!

    • @VAVORiAL
      @VAVORiAL 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

I disagreee with it being "very well made", but honestly; the premise is intriguing. Sure, perverted and awful, but then again, if you want to do body horror you have to come up with something unnerving and disgusting. Dieter Laser's performance definitely stuck with me as well.

Martyrs is the best horror film I have ever seen. Gory and masterfully out together. French horror definitely one of the best genres and they make it psychological so the gore makes sense. A few years ago at a local horror convention, I got to meet Ashley Williams from Human Centipede. She was very sweet. Did you know there's a Nekromantic 2? I have the DVD but I don't know if I ever watched it twice. Another twisted German movie is "Schramm" from 1993. And another crazy Japanese film is "Machine Girl" 2008.

I don't think I'm gonna watch the "Guinea Pig" series tho! 🤢

I got to give you credit for working up the nerve to watch these. Honestly the only ones of these I can see myself watching are Society and Braindead, maybe Raw. Working up the nerve to watch Excision and Starry Eyes last year felt like a right of passage, and it was totally worth it.

I actually cried during Dead Alive from one of the scenes. I've never cried during a horror film from like, the sheer shock. I guess it should be said that I'm incredibly sensitive to animal abuse in movies. So that's why I cried during the dog scene.

I watched this, paused the video and watched Flowers, then came back to share my opinion. Very surreal and avant-garde. Gruesome, sure, but the almost absurdity and dream-like state of the whole film makes it very watchable. I'll have to check out some of the other films listed. I've seen The Human Centipede and didn't really see what the hype was about other than it being a bit of twisted idea. Martyrs has been on my radar for a loooong time but I'm yet to watch it. For me, a horror film has to be believable for it to really get to me. A lot of the films with over the top practical effects (think The Fly, Dead Alive etc) don't really do it for me because I know they're not real and couldn't possibly ever be real. But stuff like Saw and Hostel really hit me because I believe there could be people out there like that. Thank you for recommending Flowers - I've actually never recoiled so much at a film until now. For me, the worse scene was the bit with the banquet. Like, yikes! The twist in that scene threw me, and then the bit with the nail in the bathroom...oh boy...no...I winced. Worth sitting through for the ending though.

@@stephanieramirez6880 We will find out, lol. I've seen just about everything else under the "disturbing movie" umbrella, but Guinea just doesn't seem like a movie. They just seem like a long torture scene with no plot at all (by design). Am I crazy? Is there actually a story? I could Google it I guess, but I prefer viewer opinions

Sounds like Salò. It's not a movie, it's just a boring list of garbage scenes strung together like some "edgy" middle-schooler was trying to come up with a list of the worst things he could think of. 🙄
