If we ignore the fact for a moment that Petra is a CCM group, and listen only to the talent displayed here, and the time in which this album was produced, Petra could easily match any mainstream mid 80's rock talent playing at that time. Great vocals, great keyboard, guitar, and drum work. There was certainly alot of talent there.
I like Petra because I think they are the most honest gospel based music and have lost themselves for the gospel, Having the talent to be famous in the worlds eyes, they choose to us their gift for the gospel of Christ, WOW
Petra with John Schlitt performed this song last night in Enid, Oklahoma. This is an album I know little about, and a song that I knew nothing about at all.
I wish I could see them playing this one. It's one of my absolute favorites. In any case, I'm gonna see them for the first time in Friday! I can't wait!
They did this for their 50th Anniversary tour. Great stuff. At the VIP Meet and Greet I told John I loved his Head East stuff too. He looked surprised and then gave me knucks lol. Cool guy.
Something about the ending, 3:50 onward, always had a feel to it that reinforces the point of pushing toward the higher prize and letting go of materialism.

To cast God aside is no guarantee of being called wise. No matter what we do, we are likely to be fools. Given that, why should we not aspire to be God's fools? He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose.
Logically, not all gods are created equal. We cannot consider the Mayan gods who demanded beating human hearts to be on the same level with the God who demands that we "circumcise" our own heart (i.e. commit it fully to Him). A quick winnowing of impossible gods will quickly show you the One God who really exists, even if you miss the obvious clue that only one God is named "I Am." Or you can take the short course, and pray that the One God who actually is will reveal to you which of the many supposed gods He is.
Everyone says that until you ask them to think about it logically. Then suddenly they have no time for such things. But I wouldn't want to push you beyond your pre-defined notions.
Only one life will soon be passed - only what's done for Christ will last! We as Christians have this life on earth to lay up treasure in heaven. People who are sold out for Christ are often thought of as fools by the rest of the world... but some day we will be with our precious Savior in eternity. May we preach with passion and in the power of His Holy Spirit the true pure gospel that is the power of God for salvation to all who will believe on Him!

We r not only lying to ourselves, but a lier. there is not kingdom in heaven for liers, nor other commandments we break. Jesus is there to forgive us, but we can't continue to be sinning. We need to repent truthfully & begin to walk w/God that others will see it to, to come to Christ Jesus.
