  • The 10 largest slums that exist in Abuja Nigeria are located in Jabi village, Garki village, Asokoro Village, Kpaduma, Apo village, Mapape, Gwarinpoa village, Utako village, Mabuchi village, and kado village. Are these villages are slums within the city center.
This is a documentary video showing the slums in Abuja Nigeria
The government has tried to demolished various slums in Abuja, but over time, it resurfaces again, because there is no affordable housing scheme by the government.
Housing deficit in Nigeria is over 65% regardless of what the government data says. Many people can afford to pay rates in Abuja, so they live in the slums

This is a big problem that need to be solved
If someone like me lived in Abuja I'm still going to live in one of these places
Government should develope cheaper housing for the low income earners that's one of the first step in stopping the rise of slum settlements

The only thing that will be done is sending those people out. When you TH-camrs make videos like these …just know it will not be of benefit to the residents. The government has a one track mind ands it’s centered arround capitalism. That’s how many of these communities are noticed by the government and made homeless

You and I know where the problem is....if these houses are built, the people at the higher level would buy them up and turn it to something else. I see what was done at apo resettlement, today, its no longer for low income earners. If corruption can be eliminated, I believe it would really help in solving this big issue.

Breaks my heart i had to help pay rent for my gf. she lives in Jikwoyi in Karu. And thats a slum too even though she doesnt want to admit to it. Self contain 250k ngn. But she says its easy for her to get to the city and her cousins in Nasawara. At least she has street light and no crime there.

Greetings my African brother. I have enjoyed watching your last couple of videos on the Nigerian slums. You may have mentioned this in your video but some parts I couldn't hear; but, I was thinking the government could create low income apartments and slowly move residents from these communities into the apartments. They could choose which families move first based on the first letter of their last name; for example: A-C would move first; then D -F... I saw something like this implemented in Kigali Rwanda except the families were placed in beautiful low income homes instead of apartments. The neighborhood was SUPER clean.

When you consider civilisation, in this age, you will expect Nigeria to have moved on, but the mindset of Nigerian politicians is far from reality. Keep exposing the weakness of government and hopefully one day they will get the message.

Somehow if I could help my sisters & brother it trust it could bring joy to me. Who ever owns the village , collecting the rent should do the sewer system at lest so the waste not a trail in the walk way. Who pays that builder that was doing the brick work or repairing the building. Maybe the people just might not want improvements.

I thought Abuja was planned and designed as an improvement on Nigeria’s erstwhile capital, Lagos. God knows why we get everything wrong in Nigeria. The Brazilians built themselves a beautiful new administrative capital in the State of Goias. Their new capital city is called Brasilia and has never been blighted by slums. Brasilia remains a beautiful enclave to behold. Brazil has nearly the same population as Nigeria. So, population explosion is no excuse for successive Ministers that have administered Abuja. El Rufai, over to you! Why did you let this happen to Abuja. You used to be in charge of Abuja. Please explain how these ugly structures came about.

I'm disappointed to see that all the highbrow areas in Abuja have slums within them. After watching this video, I can conclude that Lagos is actually well planned(in the real sense of it) than Abuja. Abuja is a facade.
