Congratulations on addressing a tricky subject in such an honest, humble and successful way. I’m someone who loves the color black. HOWEVER, I’ve noticed that people seem to be lathering it on everything! There are some settings where it simply does NOT work. I don’t like black grout with white tile for the same reasons you mentioned. The second bathroom you showed with the “black” grout on the light colored tile works because the grout lines are much smaller, and it doesn’t look like jet black grout was used, rather a soft black or charcoal. Nevertheless, Black is a classic and timeless color. But context is everything. I use black to make a television less prominent. I’ve used it in a matte finish on a small, old, very damaged wall that houses a black bookcase and desk. And I’ve had black appliances for more than 20 years. It takes a skilled hand and eye to make it work. Great video! Thank you for sharing it.
Agree. I love black but only as a small accent color. There are a few “timeless” white and black decor items. A black & white geometrical floor for example. I believe the best advice I received was keep fixed items windows, floors, cabinets, appliances, countertops neutral. Don’t choose so called “trends” for any of these fix’s items. Follow trend with easily removed items. Pillows, paint on walls, pictures on walls. Items which can be easily changed.
This was a great video! I never liked a whole house Farmhouse, I only like a Farmhouse kitchen which I don't have but in the future I would love to have one. This video was soo helpful. Thanks.
I am new to your channel and love your videos! My husband and I will be building a new home next year so this is great timing to come upon your channel! May need to reach out for assistance with our exterior and interior design colors!
I’m not a fan of the overuse of black either. We are building and we will have white metal siding with a brick skirt - I opted for white windows and a taupe metal roof because I didn’t want the harshness of black but the metal guy and roofer were both surprised because they were like “wow, everyone is going with black”. - Exactly😂. I only go with a trend if I like it but I never go with a trend just because. Now where I think I messed up was the fascia and soffit-I made a split second decision to use the taupe but now I’m second guessing 😩. So many choices
I like your honesty on this subject. I adore the cream and sage home. It’s warm and integrates well with nature. I just discovered your videos and I’m already one of your fans. Thank you for your decorating advice.
We went to go see a new development and every house was white with black windows. No porch, dormers or anything to breakup the flat surface. I’ve never seen black windows before this, and the first thing I thought was, this looks like a jail. lol. I do see how they can work after seeing this video, but still not for me. 😊
It seems to me that only people vulnerable to someone else opinion can be upset if the project they have implemented or are planning is not trendy. If a person is making a home for themself why should they do it a trendy black if they like white?

@ Thank you!
Excellent video and very helpful
I can't find the "how to de-farmhouse your farmhouse video.
Totally agree! I do not like black, I think it is sad and depressing.
I love the everything black! It looks nice and honestly color just gets tiring and you have to worry about matching stuff
Very true!
Well besides chrome and gold/brass, black is your only option for finishes. Pick your poison, right?

I think taupe is really nice! Add in some sage green accents and I think it will be beautiful!

I drove by 50 new houses today all white shiplap. I loved it but now it’s everywhere …

What is the AI software or is it a secret?
Mid journey!
It's just like too much gray. It gets boring. People need to wake up and get their own style.
Yes! The overuse of gray is big with the modern farmhouse trend, unfortunately.
It seems to me that only people vulnerable to someone else opinion can be upset if the project they have implemented or are planning is not trendy.
If a person is making a home for themself why should they do it a trendy black if they like white?
Thank you for this. Not a fan of black windows. I feel they're tired & dated, grim.
I hate the black, flat fireplace. It reminds me of cremation ovens😬
Me too! I can do a little black like the one I showed, but I agree, I’m not a fan of the all-black fireplace.
That ai house with black everywhere 1st one looks terrible 😩
I know! And this is all builders are doing nowadays!
@@homelikeyoumeanit bad choices lol
