My mom was such a fan of Hank’s one of my earliest memories is knowing I was born the same year Hank Williams died. Western Swing. Mom’s other heroes were Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys.
You are seeing why Hank was part of the 1st class inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. Now his son Hank Jr is a member making them the only father/son duo. He wrote about real life, mostly his life. It has been said that if couldn't finish a song in 15 minutes, he'd stop writing it. Cold Cold Heart, Your Cheatin Heart, I'll Never Get Out of this World Alive just to name a few of his songs. He also wrote one of the most well known Gospel songs ever, I Saw the Light.
The famous story of Hank Williams, when the Nashville publisher didn't believe he had written so many good songs, challenged him to write a song about a man who see's the woman he still loves with another man, and gave him 30 minutes to write it. It became "I can't Help it, (if Im still in love with you)
That was a great reaction Drama. Again, simple sounding lyrics with not a word wasted. What a career he would have had if he had been able to tame his demons. 🔥❤️
Awesome, grew up listening to Hank , a life that ended way to soon ,he had so much talent to give the world. Might check out Hank Jr, not even going to try spelling his nickname.
That nickname would be Bocephus. (Bow-see-fuss) And if you are going to go that route, you might as well check out Hank III and maybe even Wayne 'The Train' Hancock,
I am so happy to see you react to Hank Sr’s classics. It was a different era so of course it sounds less sophisticated but that shouldn’t detract from his genius. I am 68 yrs old and some of my earliest memories are of my parents playing his 78 rpm albums. I hated their music as most kids do but in my later years I’ve come to appreciate it much more.
Great reaction, man! Another good one by Hank Williams Sr. is "Jambalaya"... about spending good times with family and friends. Reminds me of my my times in East Texas and Louisiana.
Isn't it amazing how well this holds up, 70+ years later?? Furthermore: It sounds like old, old country music; but it's the _blues!!_ Even when it's not literally the 12 bars blue form (as here), the vibe of blues, and the blues scales, are the foundation of just about all genres of popular music from the 1940s to the end of the 20th century (though growing less so now: e.g., electronic-based styles often leave the blues way off in the rear view mirror). And here's this god of country music who was _steeped_ in the stuff!
Love Hank Sr. Great choices. Kaw Liga is another great Hank Sr. song. There are even songs about encounters with Hank's ghost. David Alllan Coe's "The Ride" and Alan Jackson's "Midnight in Montgomery". I think you would really enjoy those songs as well.
Clever song writing is right. Today, more than 65 years after his death, the Hank Williams catalog still generates hundreds of thousands of dollars in royalties every year.
You want a great song from Hank then i highly recommend Be Careful Of Stones That You Throw or Thy Burdens Are Greater Than Mine. Hank is quite the song writer and I am happy you are reacting sir.
You don't know how right you were when you said he been out drinking. He died at the age of 29 I believe it was They say he drank his self to death The king of country great Reaction Stay Safe ❤️
He was born with a mild form of spina bifida which caused a lot of pain and he also had a failed back surgery...He medicated himself but with booze and pills...amazing that he had so many really good songs that he wrote.
I love Hank Williams! He had so many fantastic songs! Thrilled you listened to him and really seemed to like him!!! Ought to listen to review Jimmie/James Rodgers 'Blue Yodel' Father of Country music who died at aged 35 of T.B.!! .
Thank you, thank you, thank you, young people need to hear this music. Is it better than todays music? Not really but this is where it came from. Always remember where and from whom you came from.
Thank-you for the Hank Williams reactions. Have always loved his songs. His writing, his singing, his arrangements are so good. Tragic life, but a generational talent. Keep up the great music!!
Thank you for doing such a wide range of music, Hank is one of my favorites. Great songwriter, so sad that at 29 passed away, but he left us with so many good, good songs.
If you like this particular brand of classic country act you might try is Buck Owens, who had 21 number one hits in the '60s (post-Hank, pre-Outlaw). "Act Naturally" would be his best known, "Streets of Bakersfield" is also good (that one was also a big hit covered by Dwight Yoakam in the 80s FEATURING Buck.) Buck is a guy I don't recommend a lot to because he's very classic, but you're already in the rabbit hole so he's a BIG historical name.
Buck was huge and Nashville didn't appreciate him because he lived and recorded in California. Nashville couldn't take credit for his success. He recorded at Capitol Records in Hollywood and lived in Bakersfield. No studio band, he always used the Buckaroos. When Don Rich is in your band another guitar player is just going to ruin things. They toured constantly. They'd come home for a few days, tape a couple of months worth of his TV show and head back out. Tightest band in country music.
I too grew up listening to Hank Williams music, along with his Luke the Drifter persona. Please listen to his song "The funeral", and have a handkerchief on standby
I think you would probably enjoy the PBS documentary on the history of country music by Ken Burns. It's surprising how many different music styles were blended to create this uniquely American genre.
The origin of "Dawg"... I'm also reminded that, at the time of Hank's success and the growth of country-music was the post-WWII explosion of radio. Radio stations used to be EXPENSIVE to equip, but after WWII, that technology became much cheaper and the personnel capable of running it were abundant. And with that numeric growth - from a few hundred to ten thousand stations - came the need to fill that void. Of course, Big City USA had big-bands... 20-30-40 piece bands that required days to orchestra, then compare that to a 3-4-5 person country band. You can see how simplicity of arrangements would give country bands a big edge in producing more songs to play, more stations to fill. So Big Bands were getting beaten down and what was left would be rock-n-roll, the perversion of this dance-type 'country/hillbilly' music and taking advantage of the greater electronics of all those WWII vets coming home, saying, "I need a job - I used to do wiring in the battlefields."
I had an old buddy..mr Joe Whitaker lol he got locked out and I swear 2010! Climbed right on in the Dog House. Big Old Bluetick looking like bud..theres only room for one of us. Never laughed so hard pulling in to pick him up 4wrk. Grown man crawling out doghouse. Less say it was a looong day. Lol Lay down with Dogs u get fleas. 😕
Man you just heard greatness, it is a shame that Hank had a drinking and drug problems. There are no telling how many number one hits he could have had.. His his Hank Jr. is great also... Play Johnny Cash man in black, this explains everything you need to know about Cash...
Hank died young and wrote 500 songs I saw the Light, one great one
1947. The first rock and roll music. The tune should sound familiar. Think several years later. Rock around the clock.
Yep.
My mom was such a fan of Hank’s one of my earliest memories is knowing I was born the same year Hank Williams died. Western Swing. Mom’s other heroes were Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys.
Bob Wills... so smooth!
Texas playboys wasn’t tommy alsup in that band?
Man! Thank you for such a wide range of music genre.
I’m just getting started my friend
Oh my DramaSyde, there is such magic in this old recording. It is so pure. Hank Williams, Sr. is a classic.

Hank Sr. was the Hillbilly Shakespeare. 😎
That was a great reaction Drama. Again, simple sounding lyrics with not a word wasted. What a career he would have had if he had been able to tame his demons. 🔥❤️

I love all music but country is my favourite genre and Hank Williams was a pure lyrical genius .. Hank Jr is great too
This made me cry the memories with my grandparents they loved hank Williams thank you for being so open minded ♥
I am so happy to see you react to Hank Sr’s classics. It was a different era so of course it sounds less sophisticated but that shouldn’t detract from his genius. Thank you for reacting to Hank ... my daddy loved his music! Brings back memories of me and my dad dancing to his songs.
I was raised by my great grandfather and we would sit on the front porch listening to hank and at 35 now still sit outside listening to hank
Great reaction, man! Another good one by Hank Williams Sr. is "Jambalaya"... about spending good times with family and friends. Reminds me of my my times in East Texas and Louisiana.
Check out his song Kaw-Liga
Awesome reaction!!! Love that you are checking out some music that most wouldn't think of reacting to! You're the best!
Great reaction and tribute.
Love all these older songs. Such a joy to listen to❤️

Mr. DramaSydeTv you have such a way with words. Keep up the good job.
Clever song writing is right. Today, more than 65 years after his death, the Hank Williams catalog still generates hundreds of thousands of dollars in royalties every year.
I REALLY appreciate your appreciation of the most influential artist in Country music history.
Hank is a legend and has some great songs! For comparison, check out George Thorogood's version of this song.
Will do
Oh yeah, Thorogood's rendition is bitchin'.
YES...what you said!!
I remember hearing George say that he considered this to be the first rock and roll song.
Georges version is awesome it was interesting to see this iconic song re recorded
You want a great song from Hank then i highly recommend Be Careful Of Stones That You Throw or Thy Burdens Are Greater Than Mine. Hank is quite the song writer and I am happy you are reacting sir.
The hillbilly Shakespeare. My dads favorite country artist. Grew up listening to him
You don't know how right you were when you said he been out drinking.
He died at the age of 29
I believe it was
They say he drank his self to death
The king of country great Reaction

@@rubytexas1563 thanks for the info!
Benzedrine was easily attainable, and performers were often using it to keep up. Mickey Rooney, Judy Garland, etc... lots of stories
I love Hank Williams!

Bill Haley and the Comets flat out stole this song to create "Rock Around the Clock".
His first charted hit.
Thank-you for the Hank Williams reactions. Have always loved his songs. His writing, his singing, his arrangements are so good. Tragic life, but a generational talent. Keep up the great music!!
One of the greatest songwriters of all time.
I love this song for Karaoke- has a party feel to it!
Thank you for doing such a wide range of music, Hank is one of my favorites. Great songwriter, so sad that at 29 passed away, but he left us with so many good, good songs.
One of the earliest Rock n roll songs recorded
Hank was know for writing sad songs, but he had many humorous songs as well! Try, "We're Still Living"!
He was just crazy talented and keyed on the fence yes very clever
Great reaction, that was fun ✌😁👍

I wanna say thanks for being open to these songs. Hank is an icon. Love the reactions and the channel.

😅🐶 from the sounds of it, you know a little bit about getting out of the doghouse, sir?!?
George Thorogood does a real rockin' cover of this song, along with his great covers of 'Who Do You Love' and 'One Bourbon, One Scotch and One Beer'.
Great song...early rock.. but, on another issue, why wasn't Hank Jr. in the Grand Old Opry?
I have cut down on reaction channels But I have you lock in. You are truly open mind. Thanks for sharing. ^0 year old mason in NH.
Brilliant lyricist
What a treasure he was!
Love this song! Makes me smile

My favorite Buck Owens songs are "Maid In Japan" & the duet with Susan Raye, "Looking Back To See".
Buck was huge and Nashville didn't appreciate him because he lived and recorded in California. Nashville couldn't take credit for his success. im so lonesome i could cry next please
I too grew up listening to Hank Williams music, along with his Luke the Drifter persona. Please listen to his song "The funeral", and have a handkerchief on standby
Amen on that. One of the best ever.
Saddest song, ever written!
Hank's first hit!
How Fun! Great reaction!

This song is one of the reasons Hank was also in the Rock' in 'Roll Hall of Fame!
The Amelas One
There's the man!!
React to Cold Cold heart from Hank Williams. Masterpiece.
You should also check Hank out as Luke the Drifter
The King
Check out George Thorogood and The Destroyers’ version, it rocks!
Check out "Howlin' At The Moon" by Hank, Sr and "Ballad of Hank Williams" by Don Helms and Hank, Jr for a bit of a laugh.
That's Don Helms, steel guitar player in Hank Sr's band The Drifting Cowboys, playing on THIS cut. He also played for Hank Jr later on.
Hank Jr used technical magic and did a duet with this and There's A Tear In My Beer.
Hillbilly Shakespeare with the original rock song, right here
hahaha. How did I miss this obvious meaning all these years? I must have been sleeping on my feet. But I like the song even more now.
I think you would probably enjoy the PBS documentary on the history of country music by Ken Burns. It's surprising how many different music styles were blended to create this uniquely American genre.
Rock around the clock
I heard that too! Especially at the very beginning!
Yep and this is from 1947.
Hank Williams was the best at song writing.
hank williams hey good lookin'..............plzzzzzzzzzz ty
Alone and Forsaken by Hank WIlliams

Man you just heard greatness, it is a shame that Hank had a drinking and drug problems. There are no telling how many number one hits he could have had.. His his Hank Jr. is great also... Play Johnny Cash man in black, this explains everything you need to know about Cash...
I often wonder how much more he would have done if he lived
You should hear George Thorogood's updated version
Must remember that in 1950 out at half past 10 was late lol
👍
Its best to hear his stuff "live". You get the truth in his face. Just like LYNARD SKYNYRD. To really ger it. You need to witness the "talent".
He spent most of his life in the doghouse.
Kaw Liga tells a funny story also.
Another country great taken too young
